My best friend for the past 25 years is not into luxury. She could care less about fashion or bags but she has been along my journey and has been my biggest supporter. I think she gets as excited as I do when I’m looking for a new bag. I like wise support all her interest. It’s such an unconditional love and friendship. If you loose a friendship over luxury than there were conditions placed on the friendship. That’s really sad.
@deborahcurtis13855 ай бұрын
She couldn't care less, that means it's not possible to care any less. That's a much more powerful statement. It's not 'could care less'. People get this wrong a lot and it's misunderstanding the language.

@@DaylesAddiction I have a very strong memory of looking into the mirror side by side with a frenemy who I hadn't yet identified as such. And I asked her: "Why are you so nasty to me?" It was bewildering to me that she would suddenly say or do something nasty. And she said: "Don't you know? I'm jealous of you!" I always thought friends were by definition wanting the best for you, looking out for you, caring about you. This is so not the case. Even now I get surprised. It must be the Sagittarius thing too (I've got it rising) because I expect the best but when it doesn't happen, just cannot hang onto bs. (at least she was honest!)

@@DaylesAddiction Yep. I had a choice early on when it became very clear that my sisters and elder brother were definitely favoured.To an extreme. I could take it out on them and be miserable, or I could just not blame them and move on. I once had a close friendship end and it was very hard to deal with for a time. Then, I sat down and examined the relationship and how we interacted. It became apparent to me that it was for the best in the long run; also, just like you, Dayle, I realized that dwelling on something I couldn’t control was not worth it. It started stealing joy out of my life and taking away my other relationships that were dear to me.

Your comment truly strikes a chord regarding the complexities of friendship and growth. A 25-year-long friendship envelops countless shared memories and experiences, which is no small feat. Your words remind us that even as friends may diverge due to different life choices, it doesn't mean that our mutual respect and understanding must end. True friendship indeed transcends material possessions and is built on mutual understanding and resonance. When friends undergo changes in identity and roles, the ability to pause, understand, and wait for one another is a precious quality. It reflects a deep appreciation for the friendship and respect for each other's growth process. Of course, maintaining any relationship requires effort from both sides, especially when life presents us with challenges and pressures. Our life paths might cause our relationships with some friends to evolve, and some may only accompany us for a portion of our journey. At such times, the best thing we can do is to cherish the good times we've had and, when our paths diverge, to part with gratitude. Thank you for sharing; it not only reminds us to cherish those around us but also teaches us how to gracefully handle the inevitable changes and goodbyes in life. This mature attitude towards life also respects the wonderful memories we've made.

I have a close friend and it feels like she judges me for my love of luxury because she wasn’t dealt the same cards as me. I’m relatively young (23) and we’ve been friends since childhood, I grew up pretty spoiled. Even before my parents bought me big designer names, I was always given coach and I adored it! I still do. I’ve kept every single piece of coach my parents ever got me. It’s sentimental. My very first high luxury bag was when I was 11-12. My dad actually purchased it when I was about 5 but kept it safe for me until they thought I was mature enough. I’ve always been so grateful for my parents and she even told me when I was younger that I never made her feel less than and I never was a snob. But somehow in our adulthood, it seems that something has festered inside of her. She doesn’t support it and whenever we’ve been out shopping together, when I would want to visit a luxury store all she would do is purposefully embarrass me by being so loud about how she would never buy anything at those price points in the store and how “I don’t need that.” Doesn’t feel good anymore. It’s hard to even think about letting go of the friendship but we’re not children anymore and there’s no reason for an adult to behave in that manner. Even with starting my KZbin channel, there was zero support. I’m still a very very small creator, but it would feel nice to have the support of one of your closest friends. Thankfully she isn’t my ONLY friend, but it does hurt knowing she’s one of my longest friendships. Losing friends over something we enjoy that doesn’t hurt anyone, really sucks! I enjoyed this video a lot Dayle. Thanks for the great watch always! 💕

why not shop at stores you can both afford to shop at together and do the luxury shopping with your parents or other friends that can afford it? it doesn’t sound very thoughtful on either end, to be honest. I would never ask a friend to accompany me to do something outside of her budget on purpose unless I planned to buy her something as a gift. just like I wouldn’t ask a friend to go on an expensive vacation I knew they couldn’t realistically go on. 🤔

@@DoYouLikeLuxury it was never ones sided. She would want to go into these stores as well, but then would go into the stores and act out. I always go into wherever she wants. You kinda assumed I dragged her in. I never did. I’ve always been thoughtful of her, almost too much. I can’t even share with her things I’m excited about because I know how she will react. Even when she can afford it, she expresses how much she hates the price points and how “ugly” she thinks it all is.

Polyester lining is a killer! Linen breathes, while polyester is hot in summer and cold in winter. Polyester 's a horrible material but it has creeped into luxury jackets, pants and skirts. Just like we get gold-tone and silver-tone as a euphemism for fake gold and fake silver. Gold plated used to be the lesser choice now it's almost unheard of except with vintage, or Hermès.
