You have to google Riverhill Himalayan Gardens today 2023, Sarah and Ed have renovated the gardens to the highest standards, a real professional botanical garden. The best part of all this is they have managed to afford to repair 80 years of neglect and the historical trees and plants are the jewels in the crown. Extremely well done Sarah and Ed Rodgers!

This series as a whole has revealed family after family, steeped in stubborn ignorance, who have come to own a home created by a by-gone generation. Finally, a family removed from the incompetence of most in their shoes, and have embraced the expert advice presented.

I love that Sara, the school teacher Mrs Rogers came up with this brilliant idea to make a family adventure out of the precious woodland! Her husband is so supportive and makes an adorable Yeti! Ruth expanded on their ideas and it seems this house has a bright future! RIP Great-Grandma! So valuable that Ruth had her record her knowledge for future generations! I would love to take my own grandchildren there someday!

I looked up the website for river hill in September 2023 and it’s such a success!! I would absolutely love to have this local for my kids! I mean what a brilliant idea. Then if you look on the website they have workshops, yoga, painting, wreath making ect. That maze is coming along now starting to look like a hedge maze. I think this is the most successful country house rescue of this show!! Well done Ruth you did so amazing.

Wonderful solution and perfect for his wife that is a qualified teacher and their own children. All the children visiting looked like they were having so much fun. In years gone past, some people left their estates for children to enjoy and left them to Barnardo's. Hence, I was horrified to discover that the Children's Charity had sold off many of those estates throughout the UK to property developers. That wasn't the intention of the givers, I'm sure that they had hoped their historical homes and grounds would be protected and saved for the future's children to enjoy. So it gladdens my heart to see this project at Rivenhill House in Kent.

I think every change that was made was made for the children as well as the parents to interact with children. The Maze is absolutely a great ideal. Just in a short sight of watching Parents were chasing them and having a fun as well as everyone was getting much needed exercise. To have a great place to learn the history of the trees, plants & flowers would & still have loads of fun. Spot On!

The yeti was a stroke of genius ! The kids loved it. I would strongly suggest that they employ a professional plantsman to propagate the rare plants they have to preserve the collection and perhaps even to sell... Unfortunately , it looks like a lot of the Yew trees in the maze have died and need replacing...

I can't wait for my own children to one day visit Riverhill, when and if we get a chance to travel to England. We ourselves have lived in the real Himalayas (Kalimpong and Sikkim) for 10 years :)

I understand that the owners of such homes are somewhat entitled but if these homes are to be saved and preserved for future generations there need to be some form of relief from death taxes which sometimes are crippling to the point where the house has to be sold or left to fall into decay and lost forever.

That can easily be avoided by proper planning which everyone should do. Its usually due to greedy/selfish relatives that thought they would never die.

@@atodaso1668 What set the rot starting was both World Wars. Many of these old families had 3, 4, or more deaths, and so death duties, between 1914 and 1945. During the wars it could be that there was not time between deaths to do any Estate Planning, particularly when one heir after another was in combat.

Got to LOVE the Grandmother Evelyn for telling Ruth that she's NOT an old fuddy duddy and that she DOES know what's going on. Ruth: "Does this imply you've been taking a back seat ?" as if the lady weren't capable. Evelyn putting the woman right back where she belongs: "Well; how to put it ? Having been in hospital and being in a coma, this is the first time I've come out for 5 weeks, so obviously I've taken a back seat......." She was too polite to add - You silly old cow - at the end of that because she has an education, but she implies it so well 😁 Good on you Mrs Rogers Senior.

My suggestion ahead of the lady.Ruth.. Ed and family and mother move in to mansion with grandma. rent out those 2 houses.. make a part of mansion a BnB for mom and grandma to run. Breakfast, dinners. Hire a cleaner a few hrs a day for ladies. Have more garden tours. Grandma 86. Should not be living alone, too costly. Everyone must tighten up purse!!@ I think a MAZE IS A GREAT IDEA. GREAT REVENUE..VISITORS FAMILIES WILL COME. KIDS WILL GO TO MAZE AND HAVE A BALL GETTING LOST. GRANDPARENTS CAN SIT AROUND AND LOOK IN GARDENS
