Will Jill Biden accept reality and persuade her husband to stand down? In today's circumstances, if he loses to Trump Biden's legacy will turn to ashes: Edward Luce, Chief US Commentator, Financial Times to Karan Thapar for The Wire
...........................................
In a fascinating, detailed and insightful interview where he analyses and discusses Joe Biden’s future as the Democratic candidate in the US presidential election in November, Edward Luce, the Chief US Commentator and Columnist of the Financial Times, says the principle people who can persuade Joe Biden to stand down and opt out of the November election are his wife, Jill, and, possibly, his son, Hunter. At the moment, Jill Biden is deeply committed to the Biden family mantra/law that when you fall down you stand up and fight back but it’s possible that she might come to accept that if, in the present circumstances, Biden loses to Trump his legacy will be reduced to ashes and he will only be remembered as the man who insisted on fighting for a job he was no longer capable of doing and, in the process, endangered everything he and his Party stand for.
In a 29-minute interview to Karan Thapar for The Wire, Edward Luce, also discusses who might be Biden’s replacement on the Democratic ticket. He assesses Kamala Harris’s prospects as well as those of California Governor Gavin Newsom and Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer. Mr. Luce is also asked about speculation that Michelle Obama might step-in but says firmly this is “fantasy”.
Few people understand American politics better than Edward Luce. He is also the Financial Times US National Editor. Earlier he served for several years as the paper’s Chief of Bureau for South Asia based in New Delhi.
If you want to understand Joe Biden’s future as the Democratic candidate for the US presidential election and do so in a thought-provoking but engaging manner, you cannot do better than watch this interview. Edward Luce is both very informed and quite riveting.

That being said, we want to see Karan coming on Podcasts, interviewing non-conventional people beyond politics like he did during his BBC days. I just feel he’s a gem who needs to shine a lot more ✨

@@fastphotophotography 1. Inflation. The first thing Dixiecrat Joe did was to stop drilling for oil on government lands. Gas prices doubled for the average citizen with a year Also, sending out stimulus checks after the pandemic was over, this flooded the money supply.. 2. Chaotic border policy- Biden encouraged so-called asylum seekers to surge to the border. This is unfair to those who attempt to come here legally, plus it puts undue financial pressure on state and local governments. 3. An appalling foreign policy. He baited Putin into invading Ukraine. He and his handlers made no attempt of diplomacy to stop this war. Also, he screwed the Ukrainians by withholding vital weapons once the war started. His ineptitude pushed Russia, China, and North Korea together. If the US had a real statesman like Bismarck or even a Kissinger, they would have devised a policy to prevent Russia and China from forming an alliance. I have other things to list. However, I will wait for your reply, if you attempt one.

Biden has been a wildly successful president. Any candidate would slap their own mother to run on Biden's record. It'd be enough just to run on all his record-breaking economic metrics (low unemployment, high wage growth, stock market growth, GDP, etc... even inflation has been trending down since fall 2022, and has consistently been better than the rest of the world). But there is also Biden's series of consequential legislation--CHIPPS act, IFRA (with largest climate change earmarks in history, significant lowering of drug and healthcare costs, middle class tax cuts, infrastructure spending, etc...) and the earlier covid stimulus bill (which failed to raise the national minimum wage but still raised federal employee minimum wage along with any federal contractors as well). Altogether, you have a presidency that is by any standard the most effective advancement of democratic party ideals since LBJ. It's truly tragic that age has done such a number of Joe Biden, because if he were younger, he'd be unbeatable.

This is the era of building post-truth narratives - remember someone in India tried to build up a false narrative of "abki baar 400 paar" & "tumse na ho payega" [repeated recently] and giving the advice, "if yore not gonna win, why waste your time trying to win?". The art of fighting without fighting involves convincing your opponent that he is JUST NOT upto it - & hope that your battle is won ! Here its, "its gonna be very bad for you if you try & lose out!". Nobody tells them that - "Its Okay, nobody cares ! I'd be happy to try & lose than not trying at all ! You are forgetting what a great achievement it'll be if I win !" Joe Biden, POTUS should fight and remain POTUS another 4 years ! US of A needs a good person with his heart in the right place rather than one who is very efficient & effective, but all he does is immoral & unethical !
