Exactly, the polar bears also were the ones to spin the wheel that moved the Island so that there would be no human casulties, which is why Charlotte finds a Polar Bear with the Hydra Symbol on in Tunisia

I remember dr. chang threatening to send someone over to hydra where all they do is 'ridicilous experiments weighing bear turds'. I just assumed the bears were a minor detail, something semi-normal that the scientists were researching

OxyCodeine They were training them at the Hydra with fish biscuits on how to be obedient, however when we see Charlotte in Tunisia for the first time in her flashback (beginning of season 4) she finds a polar bear with a hydra sign on it. Later on we discover that the wheel leads to Tunisia as is shown with Ben and Locke since there is an "energy source" there. So The Dharma Initiative did spin the Wheel and did move the island with the Polar Bear, making them move through time as well... So...Dr Pierre Chang may still have been alive when the plane crashed for example since we never see him die and he just kind of dissapears...(Like Locke did with Richard) There is a theory that even sugests that he joined the Others and that Sawyer actually killed him without knowing it, and it might have been shown as a premeditated Easter Egg to what will happen over Space/Time Travel... So no, the polar bears aren't just there for bear turds and aren't as minor and incoherente as most people think they are. All makes sense if you look closely ;)

He isn't the most famous of the lost cast though. Evangeline Lilly/Kate has starred in a bunch of big budget movies, The Hobbit trilogy, and is now doing Marvel movies. Whilst all Ian has got is the Vampire Diaries show, which is successful but obviously nowhere as successful as her movies. I'd say she's had the best career and is the most famous out of the group now. c:

There is no explanation, since they were just numbers... but that was a big coincidence that those same numbers made Hugo make his travel, was at the hatch's door, was the numbers that needed to be pressed and each one represented a survivor from the Oceanic Six (Jacob numbered many people on that cave)
