They claimed they had the (well not literally the WHOLE story, but the concept of the show) whole story early on, but people kinda figured some of it out, so they tried to tell people that wasn't it. Or at least that's kind of how I remember it (it's been 12 years since the hardcore fandomness of LOST was around). There's another aspect to it but it's potentially spoilery at the moment they are in the show currently.

@@malkmuslistener5459 they had the ending of the eye closing decided early on They never claimed to have the whole thing figured out (in fact they always claimed the opposite with regards to not knowing if they were getting renewed or not until they finally negotiated a fixed ending with ABC) This idea that they stated to have had everything figured out is an online myth that is circulated without any evidence to back it up

Ben had killed Keamy because the latter had triggered his anger over Alex's death. It's odd that so many believe Kate would have automatically go with Sawyer if he had not jumped. Especially since she has always been in love with Jack.

Oh God! Please spare me. People were so desperate for a white male hero on this show. Since Jack failed to become that ideal hero, many fans had set their sights on Sawyer to fulfill that role - especially during Seasons 4 and 5.

I think they said it was because neither of them were confident enough in WHICH wires to pull that wouldn't set it off. Desmond said that there were a lot of trick wires that would set it off if they were accidentally pulled.

Really the only explanation the show gives is "The island isn't done with you yet".

@@Im_Ish not really. the show gives you plenty of answers to any questions you might have (except for a few useless ones). Everyone on the island has or had a purpose. Michael also has his purpose. Until Michael has fulfilled his purpose, the island wont let him die meaning there is nothing that could kill him until he is done. That said, in the Lost universe time has a set course of action and nothing can be changed, so Michael wouldn't be able to abuse his "power" in any way

@@danimoorehead in retrospect it was genuinely jamming, the captain manages to fix it afterwards and says as much to Keamy (before he gets himself killed) In every other instance, Michael tries to kill himself and fails. They explain that issue in the final season with the conversation in the black rock and the dynamite (trying not to spoil things for others by detailing that exchange)

@@Im_Ish - season 6 offers an explanation during the exchange between Richard and Jack over dynamite at the black rock (Michael can’t kill himself) - Keamy’s gun was genuinely jamming and the captain explains that he’s fixed it when they meet again on deck later in the episode
