Juliet is such a bad image for women in this and the previous episode. A grown woman being grossly insecure because her man looked at a girl while speaking to her causes her to whimsically want to blow up an atomic bomb which she previously thought was suicidal. Just shows women being lead around by their most base emotions driven by a man. So sad to see her go out like that.

There's an interview with Elizabeth Mitchell 'Juliet' where she explains that during the scene where Josh Holloway 'Sawyer' is holding her from falling that he was actually holding onto her full weight even though she was being held by a wire. I'm just speculating here, but I think after "The Incident," Eloise would have started experiencing problems with her pregnancy due to the release of extreme electro-magnetic energy at the Swan Station. That would have necessitated her leaving the island in order to give birth. In her absence, Widmore likely took up the mantle of leader as a temporary measure until she came back, but she never did (after what happened with Daniel, could you blame her?) So neither Widmore nor Ben were probably meant to be the leader of the island, which would make sense since neither of them really seem like they would meet Jacob's criteria. Also, I think it's safe to assume the hydrogen bomb never actually did go off. Obviously the island doesn't get destroyed, but even if the explosion were smaller since the bomb was stripped down, it probably still would have been large enough to destroy the construction site at the very least. Based on information we were given about the Swan Station in earlier seasons, we know that after "The Incident," the DHARMA Initiative enclosed that whole pocket of electro-magnetic energy in concrete in order to prevent another incident from ever occurring (Sayid even points out how thick the concrete walls are in the Swan Station when he and Jack are examining the hatch in season 2). If the hydrogen bomb had gone off and the construction site was destroyed, the DHARMA Initiative wouldn't have been able to seal up the pocket or enclose that area in massive amounts of concrete as quickly as they would have needed to in order to prevent any further destruction or loss of life. I'm guessing that after Jack, Kate, Sawyer and the others went back to the future, the remaining DHARMA people who were nearby started pouring the concrete almost immediately in a frantic effort to stop what was happening (either that, or everyone got lucky when electro-magnetic energy started pulling concrete mixers toward it and sealed itself up). I'm also going to guess that after they managed to get the situation back under control and they felt safe enough to resume building the Swan Station, the DHARMA Initiative actually recovered the hydrogen bomb and decided to use it for the station's fail-safe system (where else would the DHARMA Initiative get their hands on anything powerful enough to render that energy inert?)

So here I was thinking we had a respite from Suraj's spoilery ways last episode. I attributed it to restraint but I was mistaken. It was happenstance. He still blurted shit out. It just didn't wind up spoiling something in that particular episode. In this particular episode, no such LUCK. 0:47 Not even a minute he, he intervenes and mansplains something. When the writers were IN THE MIDDLE OF finally presenting the flashback that accompanied the pilot episode, he blurts it out. Jack calmed Kate down with it in the pilot. Kate uses it while fleeing the smoke monster. Jack makes her recount it when he's operating on Ben. And now, we finally get to see the scene. If the scene had come and gone with no reaction or hint that it rang a bell, cool. It would sort of be his job as the Sherpa guide to remind them. But he doesn't even wait until the scene finishes playing out. What might've triggered their memory was when Jack ACTUALLY started the counting. Or it might've sunk in seconds after. But he didn't wait to see if their memories were triggered before jumping in. He started reminding them in the middle of that callback and even when Nikki said she remembered, he kept going on and finished his mansplanation. 5:35 So it was in this episode where viewers learned the significance of Sawyer looking at Kate and not Juliet (or saw that it was significant at all). Of course, Suraj had to point that scene out in the previous episode. He's like the guy who says, "now if you'll notice, that woman didn't actually say hello to Bruce Willis..." Yeah, Suraj is apparently THAT guy. So throughout the story line of Ilana and co., she goes around asking the cryptic question, "what lies in the shadow of the statue?" And now that people are congregated around the foot of a statue and it's revealed that that's where Jacob lives, 9:18 Suraj blurts outs "what lies in the shadow of the statue?" hinting that that may have been the statue in question. 16:21 Later in this episode, the WRITERS inform the reader of the significance of that question. Ilana asks Richard the question at the foot of the statue. Why did Suraj blurt it out earlier? The writers had a point in the story when they were going to reveal it to the viewers. But nope. Suraj had the be the one to reveal it before the show had a chance to do so. 11:38 Here's is an example of why Suraj's instinct to flex his Lost knowledge is dangerous. Because his judgment sucks. As the veteran viewer, he has to be judicious enough to recognize what a viewer is supposed to know and what a viewer has not yet learned. And when Rana says she's glad that Ben "gets to see all this shit," Suraj jumps right in and confirms that Ben finally gets to see Jacob. But here's the thing. As someone who's seen the episode, he knows Ben sees Jacob. HOWEVER, an observant first-time viewer, he would not have been able to conclude that. The first hint we got that Ben couldn't see Jacob was when he took Locke to the cabin. And then, Locke saw and heard "Jacob". Here's Ben and Locke again, going to see Jacob AGAIN. Why would this be different? That's the knowledge base from which he should be confirming or denying their speculation. But nope. With bad judgment, he follows his instinct to blurt. And this poor judgment of his is a major reason he should curb his instinct to flex and simply STFU. 14:20 Here's one of the more offensive instances of mansplaining. He's actually connecting the dots for these ladies about the "incident". He's actually asking them if they remember the season 2 finale when the electromagnetism was pulling in the metallic objects. I mean, what kind of viewers does he think they are? Does he think they forgot that scene? Did he think they wouldn't connect those GIGANTIC dots on their own? Does he really have to chime in here? What other veteran viewer of a Lost reaction series would actually do that? 16:54 So Rana, connects some dots and speculates that Locke could be the man in black. Instead of letting that pass with a poker face, he had ham it up and put on his shades. Thankfully, she learns not to pay him any mind. Because it's less important that the reactors find things out on their own and on the writers' timeline and more important that he have a hand in providing that info... even if the hand comes in the form of a wink and nod. 24:58 So here, he points out that Jacob physically touched all the people. But he prefaces it by saying, "if you watch this again and again". I think Nikki intimated that she was planning on reexamining the show on going over it again. I guess Suraj thought that he missed the opportunity to mansplain that part during this first viewing. He made sure he got it in here in case he's not around to mansplain shit in any rewatch. 29:11 [POSSIBLE SPOILERY CONTENT] So here, Suraj introduces the possibility that Jacob may not be 100% good. Hmmm. Now what have these ladies observed about Jacob thus far that might make them conclude anything other than the benevolence of Jacob? Or put another way, what have the writers shown us up to this point about any murky grey area with respect to the Jacob figure? That's the judgment we're dealing with here. That's the judgment he exercises when determining when to flex his Lost knowledge or not. 31:42 [POSSIBLE SPOILERY CONTENT] And here's the capper. His instincts to flex were so overwhelming, he couldn't help but blurt out something THAT DIDN'T NEED BE SAID!!!!!! He told the ladies that Dr. Chang lived (which was his way of giving kudos to the writers - i.e., explaining his prosthetic arm). But here's what that revealed about his JUDGMENT. The last thing these ladies saw was Juliet detonating the atomic bomb. The theory was that the bomb would reset events. The things the ladies were speculating about was about this timeline. Would they mysteriously wind up on the plane bound to LAX or would their current timeline still exist? In blurting out that one little thing he just HAD TO (?) add, he basically confirmed that the current timeline would exist. 26:17 This is Suraj in a nutshell. He chides Rana, "no looking up shit." Apparently, what he was thinking was "spoilers are MY job." Again, I started off watching Normies reactions as a fan of Suraj. But with each passing episode, I found it getting harder and harder to stomach his antics. And it didn't start off personal, but it's starting to creep into personal dislike territory because the irritation has gotten visceral. But I enjoy Rana and Nikki's reactions so I'll likely finish this series and grin and bear all his flexing his nails on the chalkboard. But it's gotten so unbearable that I don't think I can watch any more content with him in it. I've been enjoying their Better Call Saul reactions series but have been "warned" that a certain someone may be joining in for the second season. I'm 5 season invested in Lost so I have to finish. With only 1 season of BCS invested, I don't think I'll be tuning in for the rest of that series.

Also Ben was "saved" by The Island as a kid with The Others' (The Hostiles) help, whatever they did to heal him inside the Temple made him lose his innocence according to Richard. He said it when he took Ben from Sawyer & Kate. Maybe, "losing your innocence" means you can't really be the leader and that's why Jacob ignored Ben or treated him badly, hence the "what about you?" question. Just, maybe...

Damn. I remember that on my first viewing I never liked Juliet. Then on my second viewing she became my favorite female character of the series. And Locke? He always felt off to me during season 5, and when we found out that was MIB all along I was almost too happy. Still, Locke's end really is depressing when you think about it; the whole "you're special" thing was staryed by Locke himself as he went back in time in episode 3, later reinforced by Sawyer, then by Jack, and all of this because "Christian" - MIB - wanted him to turn the wheel and leave the island. Locke's choice to kill himself was also initiated by MIB. And then he dies alone, strangled to death by Ben, thinking he was a nobody. Now to get to this ending: on my first viewing, I was 100% sure the bomb was always supposed to go off because of the fact that, if they actually changed the future, the whole Jacob storyline would have been completely useless. So I was pretty sure of how things would turn out. Then you can figure out my surprise when season 6 started. Such a journey, and thanks to you I'm reliving it all over again

@@czar24productions94 How does one come to hate a fictional character? I'm only curious, as "hate" is something I would only feel towards someone or something that has done serious harm to me or someone I deeply care about. But idk maybe I'm the odd one for thinking like this since I've seen many use this term for everyone they can't relate to...

It´s no shame to not realise that Locke wasn´t actually Locke anymore this half of the season. Even the actor didn´t know!

its clear that locke is the black smoke
@bobdonda5 жыл бұрын
Agreed... Locke was always talking about fate and destiny and seeming like he knows things that he shouldn't be able to know... he took it to another level this season, but we didn't know if that's Locke acting weird as usual, or if it'll be revealed he found out a lot of info that will explain his actions, or what... he was always unpredictable. IRL though I couldn't handle being around someone erratic like Locke, if someone wants my trust or cooperation but won't explain why in detail, I want nothing to do with that

u better start Dark or Orphan Black after finishing Lost. the Lost slot on tuesdays has to be filled with another mystery series, like, real mystery, and those two shows came to mind. ♥

@@SRowntree i think orphan black would be better, for the amount of seasons, so it can make it as full as posible, and i love that series. Dark might be a lil more interesting ON YOUR FACE kind of interesting. i love both shows to death, i just happen to love tatiana maslany a bit more (?) hah ♥

Man in Black was also in Supernatural, he was War. Remember when Micheal killed Libby and Anna Lucia and Ben said it was his choice to kill them, Ben didn't tell him to. Now Ben kills Jacob and that was his choice. Also Ben "We're the good guys." Frank's position on people who have to tell you that they are the good guys.

When Jack was getting his ass kicked by Sawyer made me realize. people get beat up so much in the show. and it's like. how do these people still have teeth? they got these big pearly white teeth and they're getting their f*cking asses kicked every episode. bashed in faces hit with the butt of rifles punched a zillion times. There's no way they'd have teeth.

I ALWAYS think that the fact that the smoke monster make a chain sound , like "tika tika" and drag people into holes inside the island, it's a direct reference here with Juliet , taking down by chains into the hole of the bunker
