Pilot: A man opens his eyes. A dog passes by... As confused as one can be, the man stands up and runs as fast as possible, leaving a bamboo forest to learn that he was on a plane crash. The end: Jack slowly enters the bamboo forest and lays down on the ground. The dog comes by and stands with him. The plane takes off, and Jack, as sure as one can be about fulfilling his personal purpose in this world, closes his eyes. Beautiful.

I was in mental rehab for major depression and anxiety. The group therapy sessions really didn't do much for me. My sister had the entire DVD collection of LOST and I binged it in my room, first 2 seasons in a "suicide watch" room, over a couple of weeks, then the rest in a "you're not suicidal anymore so here, here's a bigger room" room. Those characters became (are) family to me (Kate is like the 2nd cousin I kind of tolerate but don't really like), and all variables considered, I think this show saved my life and helped me grow, massively. I've seen the show in full 4 times since. It's been about 7 years since I watched it, I'm overdue for another one. It helped me realise that my mum was the most important person in my life and petty relationships with girls, abusive relationships and toxic friendship don't matter in the bigger picture. I saw myself so much inside Jack and Locke, but also Charlie, Desmond and Sawyer. Mostly Jack. One of my favourite characters is actually Michael, and I think I'm one of the only people in the world that loves him. This, along with The Leftovers (another Damon Lindelof) show, and it sounds stupid, but watching both feels like some of the most important things I will ever do, for myself. I really can't make it through most of these episodes without ending up in tears. I miss these characters, and I hate that so many people don't watch it because a lot of people misinterpreted the ending.

I don't care what anyone says, this is the best show. And this finale is the perfect way to end it.
@bobdonda4 жыл бұрын
The finale seems better every time I see it. The first time when it aired on TV I wanted more answers and was a bit dissatisfied, but now I know those answers really don't matter. You don't need a detailed explanation of how everything worked, just like you don't need to know exactly how Wolverine's healing powers work in a superhero movie. You just have to accept the supernatural parts as a piece of the story. I think Lost absolutely would have been the best show of all time, if it was fully written out ahead of time and then re-written and polished, made a bit more concise with fewer loose ends. The slow pace and occasional flaws of season 2 and season 3 just cause frustration, and leave you disappointed when later seasons barely address abandoned storylines. It would have been a perfect show without those flaws. But it has them, so I can only call it "one of the best shows of all time" instead of the undeniable best.
@erawa27404 жыл бұрын
@@bobdonda I totally understand your point. Lost is by far my favorite TV-show of all time, but I recognize its multiple flaws (some frustrating inconsistencies or incoherences, abandoned or unexplained plot elements which were important at some point of the story, etc.). However, for me, paradoxically, the "problems" of the show are mostly present in season 4 and 5. Season 6 is more organic, coherent and intriguing than season 4 and 5. In my opinion, the exploration of the conflict between Jacob and the Man in Black (and all its crucial implications in the whole story of LOST) is more interesting, captivating and significant than the plot with Widmore's freighter in season 4 and the random jumps through time - as well as the CRAZY idea to detonate a hydrogen bomb - in season 5. But the first three seasons remain the best for me (despite the slow and dragging first half of season 3, basically the episodes where the characters are trapped in cages ^^').

Sayid explains in the 'sideways' why he doesn't end up with Nadia (although the sideways was a red herring, I think it is an often overlooked stroke of genius that allowed the writers to answer and/or tie up questions and loose ends), he didn't deserve her. I was crying more watching this than when I was watching the series finale 10 years ago. I absolutely loved this series. It was my favorite thing on youtube for 2 years straight and it made me love this channel and Lost more than I already did. This whole reaction series feels like a beautiful love letter to the show and it's thanks to you Suraj who's basically ME if I was a Normie ("ME!" - Nikki), it's thanks to Rana who at first most of us felt weird joining this series but turned out to be an awesome addition and a frickin' beautiful mind with her correct predictions and, of course, it's thanks to Nikki who with her lively attitiude became one of the most entertaining and sincere viewers I've ever seen. I can only say thank you for making me feel as if Lost was on air again and I hope I'll get to watch this series with someone some day. PS: I hope you pushed through with your reactions to the epilogue and bloopers. Make up for the lost episodes 3x03&04, damn it! (jk, love you guys)

I remember seeing Carlton Cuse in an interview talking about when they really sat down and mapped out the whole mythology of the island and the road map for the whole show - they knew from that early point that Hurley would end up being the protector of the Island. Kind of chokes you up when you think back to Hurley in the early seasons...organizing golf tournaments...distributing all the Dharma food to everyone for a beach party...etc.
@pearljammies4 жыл бұрын
I can’t think of many more perfect meldings of actor + character than Jorge + Hugo. He’s the heart of the group from the very beginning...the men of science and faith are fighting their battles amongst themselves while the Heart beats steadily. He reaches out to everyone individually and holds the group together. I mean...if you solely look at how he brings Sawyer in - getting him to stop with the nicknames, getting him to be kinder and let his guard down - and he does it all without smashing anyone over the head... he’s everything.
@victorsixtythree4 жыл бұрын
@@pearljammies "He's the heart of the group from the very beginning." I think it really does go all the way back to the first episode - there's that scene from the first night on the island where Hurley's distributing airplane food and he gives Claire an extra portion. I was also thinking about the scene from the finale when Ben tells Hurley "I think you do what you do best. Take care of people." Which got me thinking about the time Hurley shared his chocolate bar with Ben. (Hmm...seems to be a theme of Hurley feeding people..and he was a cook when they were with Dharma in the 70's...)

OMG... I cannot watch this episode, or reactions to it, without crying like a baby. When I watched the finale when it originally aired, I really liked it, but felt the sideways timeline didn't work in retrospect. Watching the final season with you guys really helped me see how it all tied together so well, so much more so that I thought at the time. One of my all-time favorite shows. So glad you enjoyed it. Fringe would be a great followup to this show, since there are some behind-the-camera connections. Person of Interest would be good too, but it'd probably be best let some time pass to help you better accept Michael Emerson in a different role.

I am so, so *deeply* happy that you guys enjoyed the finale and understood what was going on. I was worried that you guys would dislike it, or think that they were dead the whole time, or have extra "questions" that you were annoyed about not getting answered. And I was moved by how strongly you all felt the emotions and dove in so fully. Looking forward to taking the next reaction journey with you guys.

Lost is life, Life is Lost. Watching it along with you was quite the experience. It's my 10th time on the island and it always feels different, more conscious, more aware. Discovering new details, new inspirations. Lost has been accompanying me for the past 23 years through so many different stages on my life's path. It's always such a profound and thought-provoking experience, and the end or maybe....the beginning of something new. Its so pure, real, exceptionally beautiful in my opinion. Lost offers everything, like life. Cinematography, writing, actors, sets, ... all included and especially for me the music, the score by Michael Giacchino. From start to finish a wonderful creation. Great to see we got some new Losties. It's always nice i think to experience somehhing with open mind, heart and eyes. Take everything fully in. Stay LOST 🏝️😌 everyone and may God bless you. 🙏🏼

Not going to lie - for a year or two I thought GoT would take over Lost for me because of how strong it started, but having essentially rewatched it for a third time through these reactions, and with how GoT ended, it's just a reminder of why it's still my favourite. You will not find a more fleshed out ensemble cast than this, and no show has got me as engrossed into their characters ever again. I'm not one to get upset at tv/film, but you get to know these characters so well, it's so hard not to be incredibly emotionally attached. The Giachinno score just accentuates it massively and is something I still listen to this day. Those scenes when they remember are bloody beautiful and reminds me why this will always be my favourite show. Jack and his dad meeting gets me everytime. So much anonymity between the two throughout the entire show, that end scene is the only time they act like father and son, Jack struggling to understand and Christian explaining it to him, you never see that through their interactions throughout the show, that father and son bond. I love it.

Hi so ... I've been on a kick of watching Lost rewatches lately, after not watching the show since it ended 13...14 years ago. Eventually I got around to your channel and man... you guys are in my top 2 for Lost rewatches. I will definitely miss Nikki's jaw-dropped, eyes wide open, "WHAT THE F*CKS," but I have to say, Rana might be my spirit animal. Every time she reacted or like climbed up on a ball jumping on the couch, I was like "YES! That's exactly how I felt at that moment!" The sheer joy in her face at the happies and sorrow at the sads...gave me the old chills all over again. Thank you Suraj for introducing them to the series and letting us take the journey with them. And now I have to go see what else your team is watching that I like. I think you guys are great. As an aside, I have worked in media for 20 years and have been contemplating for months on starting my own reaction-type channel. You guys, along with Blind Wave and a few others I enjoy, are like the gold standard, if I ever get it off the ground, I hope I can keep it as quality as yours. All the best!

I was 30 years old, in grad school, living in Texas. I had been following LOST from the very beginning, every single week; never missed an episode. I would talk about the show to my classmates; no one understood my 6-year long obsession. When I knew the finale was approaching, I wanted to have a viewing party like y'all had. In the end, I ended up watched the finale all by myself, in a friends house that I was house-sitting for while they were away on vacation. After the final shot of the show, I unexpectedly, and uncontrollably, sobbed my eyeballs out, for like 15 minutes. Like, a hardcore wailing, the kind where your teeth are showing. I was yelling-crying, my lip felt swollen, I had snot out my nose, my cheeks were wet, my eyes were red, my throat was sore, my shoulders were bobbing...the whole thing. It was the ugliest kinda ugly cry. It was beautifully sad, cathartic, and joyous all at the same time. Actually, I'm kinda glad no one was around to see that. 😂 I love LOST, it was my "first love" as far as TV shows go.

I was lucky enough to watch the last 2 seasons (and re-watch the first 4) with my best friends. I was younger and a bit more in the mindset of "you have to be tough" so I held back my tears and emotions as much as I possibly could and I was still the one to break the hardest in our group. Definitely had tears streaming down my eyes and was choking back the sobs. It meant less for everyone else because I was the only one that was a part of the journey from the series beginning to end. I suffered through season long hiatu'ses for 6 fucking years lol. It was torture. I don't care what anyone says. The end of this show is by far the best and most emotional of any show I've ever seen, bottom line. Breaking Bad comes the second closest and it's still no where near as impactful in my eyes.

I really can’t believe that most people took the ending as “everyone was dead the whole time”. Like cmon man it’s definitely not projected that way. I can see how maybe the montage of everyone and then jack closing his eyes next to Vincent could be taken as he dies in the pilot but there are distinct differences. To me I thought it was pretty clear that everything that happened on the island and in their life actually happened. And as you guys said the purgatory phase of the show where they don’t know who each other are is the midway between the afterlife. They built that place together because it meant they could all be together with the people from the happiest time in their life before they move on. What an incredible show. Again it really is a shame that a good amount of people misinterpreted the ending and ultimately wrote the whole show off because of that

I love LOST, my fav all time Drama series. What some non-Losties don't get is while there are other awesome series out there, sometimes much more dramatic than LOST, watching LOST, you became part of them. They were family. You cried with them, got pissed off with them, rallied with them and triumphed with them. By the time Season 2 ended, this was my extended family, and all the feelings they had, I had as well. In the last episodes, when the main cast members "remembered", I cried, cause it was like coming home, it was like coming back to the family you always loved. That is why LOST forever will be my all time fav. I have all the DVDs and have watched the whole series 6 times now...and each time, they are still my family, and each time, I cry, and anger, and laugh and love....there may never be another like it...Thank God !! I reacted just like you guys did in the end...because, as I stated above, LOST and the characters are now your family too, and they always will be. I cried because I lost part of my family, but I rejoiced that they were back together again for eternity. Thanks for the couple years of memories of LOST reactions...you guys are the best....

I bawled like a baby when 'The End' originally aired. And unsurprisingly, I bawled again watching you guys bawl. I was one of the few that actually really really LOVED this series finale. Because I am all about the journey, with any show. And my god, the parallels between the finale and the pilot and even scenes in-between... thats catnip for me. I love that type of storytelling. What happened, happened. And it ALL mattered. They needed each other, to move on and let go ❤ I love that Hugo became Jacob and protected the Island. FAV CHARACTERS - Hurley, Locke, Kate, Sawyer, Desmond and Juliet. FAV COUPLES - Sun and Jin, Claire and Charlie, Rose and Bernard, Sawyer and Juliet, Sayid and Shannon and Penny and Desmond. A few of them are fav characters, too, but more so in their couple than alone. Anyways, its been a fun ride! And hopefully you guys watch FRINGE together ❤

@ricksterdrummer21704 жыл бұрын
I might misunderstand you, but I don’t think that’s how the “flash sideways” work since as Desmond said: “They’re already there.” It’s a different reality where they had memories of their “other life”. In the real reality they don’t know this other reality exists besides Desmond. And It’s not a place they end up when they die. They already died, in another life.

Rickster Drummer you are missing the whole point of the ending. Yes, there is no time in the “purgatory universe”, Juliet made that clear in the opening episode of the season. They all died at one point, and yes, Hugo may have lived hundreds of years and died a lot later than the other ones.

Hikai Tadacho I do feel shows like Lost, the Sopranos, the Wire & Battlestar really kicked off a golden age of television. But Lost was the only one (and probably still the only one) to do it on network television, with all the crap that that entails. I put it up there with shows from pay channels like HBO, Showtime etc. It’s still a pretty incredible feat. The only thing that could’ve been improved on with Lost being on a cable channel is that they could’ve streamlined the episodes & not had to do the ‘filler’ episodes that sometimes come with a 22 episode, network schedule.
