Well if u already have a Surge blade there is high chance that u have lvl 10 Surge gem, as RE ur prio should be to have lvl 10 blitz rush, because it actually deals more dps overall, and cooldown gems for maelstrom and blitz rush are also pretty important

I've seen some people use fatalwave instead of moonlight sonic, pros is its faster and you can cast other skills during travel time, cons is its a back attack skill. Have you tried it yourself ? Whats your opinion on that ?

It’s alright, but it deals less damage than moonlight (even on backattacks) and it has no paralizys immunity, so it gets interrupted all the time by the lightest slap the boss does on you

I honestly don't understand why, Fatal Wave animation is janky unless u play it with Swift Fingers tripod, it just locks u in the motion for too long. And yeah, it deals less dmg than Moonlight Sonic even if u hit back attacks, also when boss is tiny u hit less ticks than on bigger targets, so ur gauge and dmg is hindered. Only fight where it might be great is probably G4 Brel

Don't you think Moonlight Sonic also locks you in place ? I played surge forever but just built RE as a second build for more variety, tried it a bit in raid and the moonlight sonic felt weird to me. The channeling creates quite a long window during which you're not chasing the back of the boss for your SA/BR/Surge. + I noticed you're not using it at all during burst phase, which means your rotation works perfectly fine without it. Is the point just to keep it as a meter filler in case you miss a spell or to integrate it in every rotation when you can ?

@@antoineprevost3320 moonlight is a filler skill, it serves many purposes that other alt skills wouldn’t. Fill up meter if you missed main skills, clearing large areas of ads, multihit mechs, it is non directional and has some range which means you can keep up dps uptime even when the boss is facing you/blocked by terrain and you cannot chase backatks, it’s a very flexible skill. It also has the advantage of canceling it midcast by just stop pressing it or stepping, which I find myself doing quite often. If you just half cast it, you still kept damaging the boss and you won’t lose dmg, considering your other skills came off cooldown now. Never use it if you have maelstorm up, unless you fked up and have nothing else off cd

@@antoineprevost3320 Nice, Im actually happy u are watching quite closely hahaha yes, u are not chasing the ass, because no matter how high is ur cd gem or how much spec u have, u always have some downtime, then u use moonlight sonic and u dont need to chase the ass for it to hit its dmg I dont use during burst phase, because I had my ulti off cooldown, which allows me to get 1 free cycle without waiting for other skills cooldown as meter filler it does amazing job, with maelstrom and rune on it that skill gives u entire orb and a little bit of 2nd one, normally u use it only when other skills are on cooldown or when u miss Ur main cycle is still VS, BR, SA, Surge

Surge requires less investment, RE really shines when u get multiple lvl 10 gems. For Surge most of ur dmg is just Surge itself, on RE ur dmg is equally splitted on all of ur skills. And also perception of RE is pretty bad

If we talked about very end investment. Surge still way better compare to RE mate. What i mean, like 97 stones and giga bracelets. Surge still beat RE , when your blade have 5x3+2cd/2 adre. If you are 5x3+1 i can understand your POV saying RE will be better than surge. As 531 surge atm is very sus with 1 ether predator or 1 adre 3 cursed doll , this 1adre3cd+KB build hit very hard but you always need 2 crit sync to baby sit her. I play RE and Surge. But with 532 investment , trust me u will see surge way better. 531 surge is quite trash atm. Unless u go for 1 adre and 3 cursed doll +KB with requirement above. Anyway,I never bring the atro since I’m playing HM but will be good idea to try it this week. As per sonavel i can surge around 550m-600m with gunlancer. Me personally will change to RE only for some raid which give annoying situation for surge.

my friends keep telling me i need full lvl 10 gems DX and keep referring to your comments XD. I've only played my db as a re blade. i almost never use moonlight sonic, is it really worth the gem investment for that skill? i only have lvl 7 gems at the moment, been using surge, blitz r, void s, soul a, moonlight dmg gems (moonligbt lvl 5) and blitz r, soul a, void s, dark axel, earth cleaver cd gem. what do you think? my logs always show moonlight sonic is such a small damage % and i just cant see how it's worth the investment into another dmg gem there. and how about the dark axel cd gem, thoughts? ive even thought of getting rid of moonligbt sonic cd gem for spin cutter cd

I really like ur comment, lemme start with telling u what gems I have, and then I will answer ur questions, my gems atm are: BR - DMG, CD SA - DMG, CD VS - DMG, CD Surge - DMG Moonlight - DMG Spincutter - CD Mael - CD Cleaver - DMG And starting from the top, BR, SA, VS, Surge are an absolute mandatory, those 4 abilities take most of the dmg in a fight Mael is an absolute necessity if u want to have smooth rotation Spincutter at least for me is a mandatory gem to have as well, with lvl 10 CD and QP lvl 5 it's cooldown is only 4 seconds if u use it 3 times And now the less important gems, Moonlight and Cleaver dmg are used, because in my current setup of runes, all other gems, my spec etc. I dont need any other cooldown gems, hence why Moonlight and Cleaver are there For me personally, Cleaver usually takes around 5% of the dps and Moonlight can be anywhere from 6 to 9%, depending on how often a boss will jump out of ur Void Strike So at least for me personally - Moonlight dmg gem is pretty important, this skill might not be important during burst, atro window but its overall contribution is significant, with how easy and versatile it is to use Now, moonlight cd gem is an absolute waste, u almost never use it back to back when ur cycling skills, throw it out, same for earth cleaver Axel cd gem might be okay if u really fuck up ur rotation and u need to rebuild out of Axel meter generation, it gives u more orbs than Cleaver and has shorter cooldown, but at this point I would probably just activate 2 orb and accept the fuck up with having some donwtime. And about the first line, it's not true u need full 10 gems to play RE, what Im mostly trying to say when I put a heavy pressure on having high gems as RE is the fact, that if u just get a single lvl 10 dmg gem Surge is just better, no deep meaning behind it, RE on the other hand benefits from every single dmg and cooldown gem, well except spincutter maybe but I would still argue it helps u to keep better uptime during the raid Hope this answer will be satisfying XD

Also on a side note, I consider even lvl 10 CD Axel gem very situational, and not useful enough, I have it as well since I play Surge too, thing is, it takes u around 4 seconds to do ur full combo of VS, BR, SA and Surge, after that u have around 2-3 seconds of downtime with my gem + spec factor, so u base ur dps out on 6-7 seconds dps cycles considering downtime as well Axel base cooldown is 12 seconds, with lvl 10 gem its still entire 10 seconds, so even if u stretch ur cycle to it's very extend u might almost never use Axel twice during a single cycle, that's why it is a dead gem slot for me personally Edit: Because every time u reset ur cooldowns ur Axel cd goes back to 1 second, also maybe future raid structure will require me having Axel cd gem, but that sounds too ridiculous

That's interesting that axel builds more meter than cleaver, i never noticed. I had one more question i wanted to ask by the way. My friends noticed you said you have 7 surges per minute on a good run. So i've been wondering, when you say 'good' do you mean perfect, or would perfect be more like 8+ surges/m? I did a few runs in trixion with max spec and cd gems, but was only just hitting 7 surges/min, that is 100% uptime. on a good hanu run, i can hit 4.7 surge/m. in an actual raid, i can't imagine anyone hitting 7 surges/m unless you're shooting them out at 2+ orbs

@@zengceng in good Hanu runs I had sometimes 6 surges/min even considering the phero downtime By saying 7 surges/min I was considering a very good uptime while boss is not doing anything that will hinder it And Im actually not Sure how many Surges/min I can hit in Trixion, I will try it today and give u an update

@freevo7912 okay, so do you mean more like, 7 surge/m in between mechs while you are actually able to hit the boss, basically 100% uptime where possible? like in gate 1 brel, you have the counter mech or the safe spots where you have to stop dps, that brings your surge/m down, but while the boss is targetable you can shoot surges at a rate of 7/m and thank you for all your explanations and answers, i appreciate it :D
