I think it might be part of the problem, that people cant see their impact as a support. but i can definetely see if im doing well as a support, if u have enough space awareness to see where ur teammates are and can act on their needs or mistakes u can pretty much see if you are shielding/healing well, if you are boosting at the right time and so on. I agree thatthe visuals are not optimal, but its mostly lack of awareness. Im not a support main, and i only have one support. And that support is an Artist (why? because its the only support that is not boring) u have skill shots, you have to actively place yourself well and do decent decision making. In contrast, paladin is just spamming buttons cause the AOE spells are just huge, u dont need skill to play pala decently and for me thats just boring. Like DPS chars, there is a skill ceiling, and for supports, in general, its not that high. The ceiling of supports is more Brain usage and decision making. So at the end of the day, i feel like the support kits in general are the main problem, not the lack of visual impact portraited on the screen.

People keep repeating and repeating supports are boring to play, surely that doesnt help. And even if they are to you, they arent boring for everyone, so maybe try to not send that message even if you dont want to play them. Now, the reason they are "boring" is because they dont do big pp damage, and thats it. You can try and roll it as many times as you want however you want thats the whole reason some people will never play a support. It doesnt matter if it shows the contribution this way or the other way, if they bring more buffs, if they bring less in exchange for dps... it wont ever matter. Saying playing a support is just pianoing is simplifying the gameplay as you could with any other class. Also there are piano dps classes that nobody consider boring, Predator Slayer for instance. So pianoning is not the issue, is the lack of big pp damage. If you play as a support they way you should you wont be bored unless you are doing old raids for homework and in that sceneario what does it matter, its a 15 min raid. I dont know the situation in Korea and will take your word for it, but in the West, one month after the latest conten is released you see more parties than not with 2 supports looking for dps, because luckily many people made at least one support as a second or third alt.

I don't think that lack of big PP damage is why people say that supports are boring. They are boring because there is very little you can do in terms of playmaking moves. There is one skill with damage reduction that can maybe sometimes do this + Artist has really good cleanse that is useful in some raids and can prevent wipe (especially in Clown). But that is it. In a MOBA game I used to play, each support has some sort of on-demand cleanse. One of the supports has a cleanse that also pulls your teammate towards you, so if for example they are pepegas at positioning and get caught, you can save them. Some of the supports have either damage reduction, invulnerability or can make you temporarily unkillable (like crisis evasion). Most of the supports have some sort of CC and can setup kills for the team. Some of the supports can to some degree do fairly OK sustain damage or in some cases substantial burst damage (like for example transform into a big dragon) that can change the tide of a fight. In Lost Ark you are pretty much on autopilot, rotating your DMG buffs, spamming brand and shield(s). Sometimes you use identity that gives bigger numbers to your team (and/or heals them), but it hardly changes anything other than raid is cleared faster. You don't see any dramatic change during the raid. Something like that would be called a "heal bot" in the MOBA game that I played and there were occasionally such characters, but they would eventually rework them to be less passive, because almost nobody liked to play those "heal bots". And yeah, you can make plays with heals too, but it is better to have more options.

I am noy saying they are the best designed supports ever, just saying in progress/ilevel reclears they arent boring to me. I have to pay attention to 3 people lives and positioning to try and shield their asses, place the buffs where they stand and/or the boss will stand and manage myself in the process while countering most of the times. I Know many people play way more passively but then its not the class' fault. That said, all this doesnt apply to reclears with overlevel but idc much really those raids, they are fast content. As a support main, I would also welcome more variety of supports and the things thay can do but the thing is they are already quite strong as they are. Adding more healings on demand or crazier stuff would broke them entierly imo. That could be balanced with harder encounters that rely even more of the skill of the supports but then they would also thave to update the existing ones to be able to achieve that. @@staryimoze

Personally I love playing support, I know its an unpopular opinion. But getting upgrades to my weapon, card set, better gems, getting more hp all feels great to me. I personally enjoy knowing that those upgrade boosted my teams dmg, and that I can give bigger shields and heals to keep them sustained throughout the fight. As for an idea for the support shortage issue. Why can't we just remove the 2 Party system and just make it 1 whole group, and run a setup of 7 dps 1 support. Some more adjustments would need to be made of course, but that cut the need for supports for each raid by half, and open another dps spot. 1 support managing 7 ppl on buffs will be the same on paper as 2 supports each buffing 3 ppl each.

Just some personal thoughts. I’m a support main since lost ark launch, my biggest issue with the game is supports feeling under appreciated. The game is all about damage, there are many times I saved a dps from near death but never received the recognition for it. How well a support does is heavily determined how much dps the team is doing. However, there are times the boss does random patterns during a big buff or dps get knocked down or skills on CD or they simply don’t stand in the buffing circle when they are near it. Like you said, it’s hard to visualize my performance as a support, if I can’t even see how well I am doing then how is my dps going to appreciate my existence? Sometimes I feel bored during a fight because I feel like I’m just a body pressing keys until the end of the raid. I don’t find support rewarding at all in this game. I can see why people don’t play support, I personally have more fun on a dps alt than my supports.

Yes i agree with the points you talked about . 1: Main swaping is so important for a game like lost ark . They are doing really bad job at balancing the game every single patch. 2: Support shortage , is a huge problem that the devs created and they should make the supports more fun , and more used (more useful),this is also a problem with the main idea of roster game ,and i hope they find a way to make people play supports. 3:The game takes ages to start , and the graphics are old now , even lost ark mobile looks x10 better and prefrom better than Pc, which is so stupid. I think they should also focus on other things . 1: New players guides and solo activity and things to learn , when i teach players i have to take them to raids and teach them ,and it is hard ,and stupid to be honest . 2: Stone cutting and the Rng amount in this game should be less , it is just stupid . 3: Gear honing window is old and so bad , that need to be changed. 4: The idea of x6 roster is too much for some people , they should make it more playable for people who want to play their main more. 5: Sliver grind is just stupid , and the Unas/weekly should be reword , they are just bad way bad.

But all of those you mentioned is the intentional inconvenience, so you will swipe card. If they fix all of those then card swiping will reduce quite significantly, they can't afford that, they want your money.

At the end of the day there are some people that don’t wanna play a support, just like how some people don’t wanna play dps. Synergies/supports add a bunch of restrictions to making groups, which adds to the lobby simulator on top of gatekeeping. Bc of how hard raids are and how many we need to do for gold/progression, the current system doesn’t really work well

1. Mate, I keep telling they need to add in trixion training for boss main mechas so people can learn patterns and be confident without being judged constantly in the dungeons including sidereal practices. 2. To get 9/7 is insane. They either have to reduce rng or remove peons so we can swipe gold as much as we want for stones, but then again the market prices will sky rocket so maybe we need to remove peons and reduce rng to balance market. 3. Imo the whole gearing system is garbage. You get gear for free basically and you just honing rng like a monkey. Can we get a standard MMORPG style. You clear dungeon we compete for the gear drops or something like that. It feels more rewarding knowing you have better gears or more gears then the other. It shows progress. I wrote in one videos the whole system how I would change it but its like an essay and can't be arsed to repeat it. 4. X6 roster is wild, you set up us for the fomo. X2-X3 is the MAX it can and should be. What i hate about this game that everything is bound, bound and bound. Can we get it so that we can move between roster at least. It is so stupid when I get stone kbw/adrenaline and I have to sell it and then buy it and pay peons for it as well. It is just retarded. 5. Never had issue with silver, but I agree grinding for silver is just useless. In fact with such game style the daily quests are not needed because LEGION RAIDS, CHAOS DUNGEONS, GUARDIAN RAIDS ARE ALREADY A DAILIES with the X6 and other alt grinds for gems + now it give that rare drop which is great.

As a support main, I picked bard as my first character in lost ark. I can see the many view points of playing support and not playing support. You will only main support if you really enjoy the play style of just buffing and supporting your team rather focus on finding the dps window and doing big numbers. Those who don't to buff and shield teammates can't be force to play it if they do not like it so there has to be an incentive on making support. They should either reduce the honing cost of supports and give more rewards that are roaster/tradeable. Those extra mats saved and earn can be invested into other dps characters. At the end of the day, we do not care about the supports iLevel or if they have a +25 weapon. We just care if they have the iLevel and the 5x3. By creating another support for cheaper investment, more material generating and getting a faster rate of return on their investment people will make support because it offers so much for little work. To solve another issue why support aren’t in end game raids. They can provide a support honing buff for your roster. For example if your support is 1580, then all your characters that are below 1580 and below gets a honing buff. This will allow people to save mats and gold, which will benefit the player who plays the support. Supports are supporting others but why don’t they support our own characters?

@@lilym6483 pheons are in the game for a reason, they shouldn't get rid of them. they do need to be changed however, i think the price of pheons should flex with the current price of blue crystals so that you don't end up paying ridiculous prices for them.

Exactly! As a main supp with a couple of dps toons in my roaster it feels bad when you finish doing x4 raids/guardian helping pugs progress etc.. and by the time you bring your dps toon to do the same content you get gatekept or there is no more support at that time. It sucks for us main supp to play dps toons unless you have a static. Nobody help/support us :pepesad

Suport issue is much more complicated in my opinion. And I fully agree support is too strong, game is unplayable without it. Redistributing buffs is good idea but what about the rest. Most ppl do not even realize how much dmg you receive is mitigated by support shields and DR, especially on ilvl. Akkan G1 without support you would use all pots before 60 bars and then die. Then you got heals and all the buffs. I do not agree to removing supports. I like playing them :)

Concerning Akkan, that is not factually true, i can do Bus akkan on a summoner without support and i dont die most of the times. The main problem there is the swift from yearning and damage amplifying that you most certainly need to have enough dmg to complete the raid. It obviously is a lot harder to survive without a support, but its pretty much doable. Concerning removing the supports, you are seeing this as an extreme point of view. Making raids playable without supports is not the same as removing them. If that would be the case, a party would still prefer having a support on their party, only going for full dps if no other option was handed. Altough i agree with you that there are more steps to be taken before even considering going down that path of "not needing a support".

i like playing supports too.. but i can never Main a support because there isn't much ceiling with them to begin with.. you only use CDR gems because dmg does nothing... there is maybe 2-3 bracelet effects that are worth having (cheers and the debuff for crit/def). also the engravings barely do much for support anyway... like Cursed Doll AP buff doesnt even apply to your heavenly tune/Sunsketch etc because those skills only go off of your AP from gear... engravings dont even buff it which is silly in my opinion.. so there is no reason to build any risky engravings like CD which could limit your healing taken etc to boost your output as a support. the archaic engraving system needs to be relooked at and new engravings added/old ones adjusted to give supports more viable options.. right now its literally 6 engravings that most supports run across the entire game... thats bad game design in my opinion..

Supports are essentially just a damage/surviveability stat stick. Only way to solve the problem is to remove that role from them and rebalance the game accordingly. No bandaid fixes will ever make supports widely appealing enough to fix the playerbase imbalance. This is a well known issue across every MMO that has reliance on tank/healers; there will always be a tank or healer shortage. There're 25 classes or so now, and only 3 of them are true supports...that's already a problem by itself. Why force supports into the equation when there's no true trinity system (only a couple of classes with a short duration taunt). Will be a lot of effort but they need to move survivability back into the individual classes to remove support reliance. Maybe some base percentage HP & DR buff. Let support classes keep their current skill kits but rework them just to deal pure damage like every other class. This is a fast paced action game yet the optimal playstyle is to bring a zDPS shield/buff bot party member to every single raid? Sounds pretty terrible. WoW is experiencing this exact issue with their first ever support DPS class, Augmentation Evoker.

as a support main, the lack of customisation is really what kills it. barely any good engraving options, and the forced set , it's always yearning, you can't experiment with others sets because the entire game is built around you having it. yearning is too oppressive and makes for a bad design space. it's also a very selfless set, you don't get anything for yourself after 2 set, so you don't even get to see any character growth. there are also a few things i would like to see to also improve gameplay: mana bars. this is mainly for artist, because you want to time mana restores to actually be impactful. adds some interactivity. guage bars: show me everyone's guage so i can time my buffs. rework shield ui: it's garbage and obscures everyone's hp value. this actually helps dps too because then you can actually see if you're low hp under supp awakening click through ui: allow the party UI to not obscure movement clicks for the people who move it more centred. it get's in the way when you accidently click it and can't move damage numbers: allow us to set a threshold for party member damage for it to be visible to us as well. so that we can also get the happy juice when we see someone get a big number under a damage buff window, adds fun

I don't mind my bard being a dps, i've been playing it since the very start and i just enjoy the theme regardless if im supporting or not, but i kinda would need like 1 million gold to turn it into a proper dps at the ilvl i am.

Nah they'll just give you a single tripod in each skill that gives you plus 3000% dmg to that skill, and a lvl 4 tripod ammy, only one tho

"as a compensation for the big inconvenience every support player that has reached 1620 gearscore in said date X" ( the limit is to avoid bot and last minute exploiters with multi class/account ) to celebrate the support class turning in dps we will give to that class a full lv 10 gems set (BOUND EVENT) and lv 5 tripods amulet (BOUND EVENT) for the first. and only time in lost ark history.

They need to give all classes their own way of hp sustain and maybe a few other party synergy buffs, similar to how GW2 has done it. Every class has their own heal and party buffs they can use.

This is a great idea, it allows for more pug friendly groups to run with a healer while the more hardcore parties can run healerless or a hybrid support for most encounters

There will always be people playing these kinds of games for who their main interests is not to be doing damage themselves, they want to contribute to the group in other ways. Supporter is basically the only way to do so in Lost Ark (no tank). Supporter role in these kinds of games typically has a really big impact on gameplay. That's just how it tends to be otherwise there wouldn't really be any incentive to play it. Might as well be afk if you can't influence anything. I have no idea what Smilegate should do. Improved visual feedback will not change anything, much like handing out free shit to people playing support. Band-aids at best and nothing like a long term solution. I think deleting the role would be the laziest way to approach the problem. It would probably also make a lot of players that mainly play support quit as well.

1. Rework how main stats work and put them on gems instead of dmg percentage, so that lvl ten gems actually have an effect for supports a big one at that. 2. Bigger heal numbers/shield numbers and crit heals and shields. 3. They need very viable DPS specs. And should be able to spec into niche builds to do as much DMG or support as the party needs. 4. More newer support class options. This is probably the biggest in terms of getting people to actually try it out as a new class. People said artist would not have solved the shortage but it actually did for a few months, but slowly dropped back down due to other issues not heing solved with them and the cost of honing beyond a certain point. All these combined would pretty much do as much as you could ask for, you can't solve the problem entirely it's baked into the MMO identity

I don't think deleting the Support class is the right answer. The overdependency on Swamp of Yearning is a bigger problem than Entropy and I am surprised that they haven't addressed it. The other big problem is that Spec is not viable for Supports - this makes the Swiftness gameplay into piano spam instead of creating meaningful moments of power. What they could do is use design space of Third Awakening to provide defensive/heal options for DPS classes. And then give tripod option to skills with Ready Attack so that it buff your team but not you. This way some classes can simulate the role of support, giving people the option of raiding with 8 DPS instead of waiting for Paladin/Bard/Artist to show up.

Really great points all around honestly memo. Something need to change. They've been making small changes here and there; this makes the game feel a lot better. Like sharing chaos stones and battle items. However, they need bigger changes to make the game easier to access and more enjoyable. Introducing more content for your main character, making supports more engaging and nerf them so that they are not REQUIRED for content. You can allow supports to res, so they feel that they made a big difference if someone dies. Or just allow us to use some of the millions of feathers we have in legion raids. Give dps characters more buffs, debuffs and different synergy. Synergy is another big issue; there should be multiple options for classes, this is another small reason for gatekeeping because ppl want crit synergy, etc. Another big issue with this game is that it's heavily reliant on funneling mats from alts to your main, but like you said, when you want to swap your main its way too hard. So, it's funny enough that the game is focused on alts, but never really allowing you to easily swap to a new main. I really like the shared bound mats, but even then I don't think that's going to solve the issue entirely. They should probably nerf honing more, tbh. I like the class change pass, but I understand how it can be an issue. For example most ppl are meta chasers, and theyll prob just swap to the strongest class everytime. Granted it will also be a benefit because some ppl will switch to supp. Id prob switch my reaper to supp tbh.

They should have a card set or gear set for HP regen + ATK speed, so if people choose to play without support, they can can choose the HP regen set in exchange for DPS lost from the gear set/card set (LOS/KLC). People can still clear the content but just slower. The raids are not even ilvl capped so DPS check are not even tight if you're doing homework raid. You still have plenty of time to clear and people don't have to wait for support. You can even matchmake at that point if you really want. Matchmaking is useless right now. No one even matchmake. Might as well delete that function. This will make Support optional and having support will just make the party stronger.

Although making the supports more interesting would help, I don't think it will impact too much with the support shortage. At the end of the day, I believe that most people that play this game just like to play dps. No matter how much more interesting it is to play support, they just want to do damage and kill stuff. Another problem is that there seems to be a trend of when a majority of supports want to play. You can see it in sonavel lobbies, where at certain times, it's full of lobbies lf dps, and at other times it's all lf supp. It's even worse for cubes, as there are times it takes forever for supports to matchmake, sometimes even ending up grouped with a full roster of support, and other times when queuing up as dps, you find no supp and go full dps. The only thing I can think of is to make another gearset, that would somehow allow dps to play as a support, and buffing supp's dps so that if they grouped up together, they can swap to dps easily to do the content, or make the latest cubes doable as solo for every class. Maybe a gearset that makes you do extremely reduced damage to enemies, but attacking allows you to give buffs, and stagger dmg does other utility?

The idea of an alternative "support" set for dps classes came to my mind quite often, and yes ..i kinda agree on that, it would definitely help. Like you hit, attack, do everything you do as a dps, but you generate buffs/heals/shield/utility instead of deal dmg.

That wouldnt solve the issue completely because we have to remember about the pheon system. In addition to grinding youd have to buy freaken pheons for 5x3. Pheons is also a major problem in this game. Its too greedy

why not just get rid off all features and just have 8 and 4 main raids and guardian. All I hear people talk about constantlly and want to do are raids anyways like test of manhood. Strip out everything and when people.login just feed them to raids. Raids are like roller coasters, if people want rollercoasters then just build all rollercoasters. Make it like six flags theme park where all you get rollercoasters instead of disney world theme park comes with scenery and all. I dont understand why we need these scenery when al the community cares about is boss mechanics.

1. Balance - OK fair but PTR is for testing and what gets into the live is actually somewhat acceptable. LOL has same issue and its a COMPETATIVE game. 2. Swapping mains - I agree should be easier. 3 Roster bounds mats = market crash (mats will become worthless in broker or you will be hardcore forced to make chars to support ur main). day 1 max ilvl for stacked rosters. Huge overgearing on new content and many many more problems depending on how you actually adjust the rewards... It is in no way a solution. Trading honed gear with a hone downgrade sounds better and addresses 2. 4. Supports - Yearning YES I AGREE!. Your idea is actually ok. But could be done half half. Like keep mark but nurf it = normal synergy. 1 Power buff should stay. Could be either normal power buff or identity and give some dmg skills(could be "if you or ur pt hits the target does X dmg" or whatever you could think of that is NOT just dmg numbers. Also "new" supports benefits should stack so that 2 supports in pt is viable. balance should be 1dps1sup slightly stronger than 4dps=2sup2dps. ______ at 1475 you had 3 close ilvl raids where you felt the power of gearing your character while still not 1shoting the raids = game was good at 1580(before akkan) you had 2 gates where you felt your gear power. Rest was low content where you needed ppl to stay alive to just do the mech = game was bad Conclusion = New content should be always power lvl similar to previous with a SMALL power boost for rewards. akkan update - 1600ish akan + kaya + brel 4 = good Voldis update - 1620ish with elixirs = not so good but ok (not good because you 1 shot akkan with ele). Theamine update -1630ish good untill you are done with trancendence than..... THIS in my personal opinion is the lost ark problem that ppl dont talk about.

8:04 Actually no. Supports are called boring in almost all games. Its just the nature of being a support. The problem with supports is that very few people want to main support in general, most players want to have supports as alts. What causes the lack of supports is that its too hard keep up with your main and level a alt to end content at the same time. Want to solve the support problem? Stop making expresses. What we need is a global leveling rework and end game clicking buffs. Expresses should only be for new players first character.

What you said about statics is so true, thank you for sharing. I´ve been in about 3 different statics since i started playing the game and all i can say is i never really enjoyed being there. In my opinion they should change the way they do supports (and not just heal and shield), like for example we have other engravings we don't use, scrap all of that and make bunch new engravings for supports like for example being able to sleep or stun or agro the boss (so the dps can do more and finish the raid faster) or being able to resurrect or even give like some sorts of shield to prevent wipe. So this gives the support players something to do and feels like they contribute to the team. If support can also have their own build, i'm pretty sure people want to be a support main more. But they have to change lost ark dungeons completely and figure out how support can interact with bosses, which ofc takes time. The could also make the unused stats like endurance, domination, expertise come into play to interact how support can actually interact with the boss. Or change support to dps, which is cheaper and faster to do, but some people don't agree for sure and some may quit. P.S: They should also make the raid clearable without support (but faster with support). So it's time for Judgement, True Courage and Recurrence to shine. So people can actually choose between support and dps and be able to switch freely if needed. If support can do something to the boss, i'm pretty sure there will be a lot of supports player coming in. So not only we solve the unused engravings and stats issues, which makes players pour more accs, stones, and bracelet to the market and make the market healthy, but also make supports more fun which is important, so they will make a lot of money, and we will be happy.

Im a full roster bard main and while I do enjoy the class my biggest problem with it is that supports in lost ark are not the same kind of support class as in most mmorpg games they are primarily damage providers and nothing really else the heals are just nice side things but you always focus on spamming those dmg buffs and if you buff damage it is always hard to see the effect on the party you do without a dps meter or something similar meanwhile when you heal you actually see hp bars going up and you see how much a good support can heal or how little a bad one can I never understood why in lost ark supports almost always have to choose what buff they give either damage or heals ( pala doesnt really have to choose but their heals little to nonexistent anyways ik ) Maybe its just me but I would like supports to have much more of a healer role that also give buffs like dmg buff on the side while mainly healing tho and if you go with the healer route you can easily just keep 1 support/healer for the whole raid and just make the heals raid wide instead of only party 1 person is more than enough to heal everyone if they dont have to choose between dmg or heal buffs and you would definitely see how much a good or bad support will contribute to the whole raid

Also, when you cast a shield as a support, the spell should always be uninterruptible by stagger. "Oh, you want to prevent damage? Well, this random ball came out of nowhere so now your spell failed. Sucks to be you". Also, the shielding spells on Bard and Paladin should require more player thought and input than "press button", Artist does it right.

Paly do have a lot of healing the difference is that he has sustain healing instead of burst healing. He also has much more damage reduction/prevention than the other sups. This makes paly unsuitable to pair with bad players that are constantly taking damage but on the other hand perfect for good players because of his buff uptime. And paly also pair best with classes that are more tanky like all the warriors and some of the gunners because even if they are bad players they are not constantly at death's door.

What supports lack in healing they make up for in shielding and mitigation, which is obviously less easy to quantify. You can still kind of tell when the support is bad because you are just eating damage but theres so many factors like, for example maybe the dps are just bad and thats why the party is preforming poorly, and obviously shields (proactive healing) feel less impactful, noticeable, and overall just worse than heals (reactive healing, watching your hp bar ping pong up and down, clutch saves) both for the caster and reciever. I think this is a pretty core theme to healing in lost ark, the bulk of your "healing" being mitigation, which makes it something that seems impossible to solve without a full overhaul of the entire role. All that to say there is no easy fix, the game has been designed from the ground up with healers in the state they are. Every raid, every guardian, ect. Deleting supports and shifting support focus to healing require similar amounts of full game redesign, with the later you would not only have to rework and probably replace a large chunk of every supports kit, but you would have to redesign the fights around having an infinite amount of healing. This would probably involve higher damage from bosses, bigger emphasis on 1shots, and higher emphasis on raid wipe mechanics which are all in the opposite direction of where lost ark has been going with its nerfs to raids. Imo the solution is moving more towards making the mechanic already implemented (shielding) feel better and look better, incentivize using your shields well. I dont have any really good ideas for this, the only thing that comes to mind is getting meter generation for your shields and other mitigation blocking damage, and adding a different color number on players to show when they get hit and have a shield, how much you blocked, but those two things alone dont seem enough to me. They could also add extra numbers showing how much damage people are doing thanks to your buffs during the fight, but that seems like a bit much screen clutter and hard to implement well when compared to how much better it would make supporting feel. Overall quite a challenging problem, i look forward to see what conclusion they come to for a fix

For as much as I love Lost Ark, it should look towards other MMO's to seek improvements. Dungeon Fighter Online handles alt progression very nicely. The Cutline (normal mode) content gives you a baseline of character bound mats like normal. However, as you get stronger, and graduate, you can do the higher difficulty that will give you a partial amount of roster bound mats instead (But the same total mats). That way, you have a reason to run harder content, even content you've graduated, on your strong characters to funnel mats to an alt at your convenience. On one hand that makes using alts a necessity, but if you ask me, this game already forces you to play alts anyway with it's gold system. So this feature would be great towards creating a stockpile of mats that you can use any time you want to roll a new or event character. What ratio of Roster bound mats they want to give is completely up to them. But then again this is just hopeium at this point. Being SO invested into your main is a problem that will only get worse not better over time, and when everything is time gated as it is, it could be months before you could realistically play new main in any level relevant content. It's bad design. DPS Meter is also handled better in DFO. It's strictly for you and you alone to look at. You can link it in chat if you want, but using this information you can deduce your own combat effectiveness. Sure it allows you to infer how well others are doing, but doesn't out them. This is how they should do it, because otherwise, people are just going to use the external methods anyway. How is that bad for the game? As far as supporters, I have ranted about this topic for decades. It will never cease to amaze me people who defend that archetype in this type of game. This is an action RPG Game where action gameplay is the focus. Of course someone like a support is not popular, it's not suitable for the game type. Why can't you beat Elden Ring with the Priest Class? How come I can't find a Vertical SHMUP game where one of the ships is a healer? I don't know maybe because it's not appropriate for the genre? I'm not saying it can't work, and some people might like it, but I am saying, you as an MMO developer are needlessly risking the integrity of your game simply HOPING that 25% of the playerbase will like this one archetype and the other 75% of the rest of the playerbase is playing the game as it's intended: Like an Action game. This game doesn't need healers. It never did. And I'm willing to piss off the dozens of support only mains in order to make the game as a whole run more smoothly. My idea: Tune down the effectiveness of a healer to be that of a dps in the same slot. They'd still be BIS due to utility, but the game wouldn't be balanced around them.

On your first point. Balance. They do that for 1 reason. Money. I don't understand how players don't see that. One of their biggest revenue earners is new classes. When new class ideas dry up, the next best way is to capitalize on fomo and rebalance low-tiered classes to be bonkers in damage. It is VERY predatory and yet somehow, players have not caught onto this yet. Edit: At 5:15 ... yes ... 1000% yes. This whole game is a alt-centric game. It should absolutely stop having character bound materials. Period.

I was talking to my guild about this, we came up with an idea called alt boost. This basically works like this. Say Main char is 1580 but a balance patch happens and your main starts to lack. We thought about giving your alts a boost (increased mats, honing success etc) until they are a certain threshold below your main. EX: I have a 1580 soulfist and then they get nerfed. I then wanna switch but dont have any chars close to 1580. I would be given 4 spots I can pick to be my "boosted alts" You could change these every 30 days or whatever. Boosted alt would last until a certain itemlvl threshold is met then they become a normal character. So once my artist got to like 1520 she would lose her increased drops, honing success etc. I feel like the system would help people boost up chars to play as there main if they choose to keep grinding them to what there main itemlvl is. I feel like at this point in the games life, early content like guardian raids for instance is DEAD asf, i had to make another account to help me beat them at a low itemlvl because no one does those low tiers anymore, Same goes for abyssal dungeons. Until they fix that early game this is kinda what i came up with...

That's why I created 20 different chars and played just my own pace, I enjoy the guardian and chaos, I do the legion if I want to. Played 95% solo and PUGs only. Im done chasing meta or to do everything for this week or to finish this to finish that, because its fvcking exhausting. SG will never change and fix things in the game, and when LostArk released in Mobile and if that game revenue surpass the PC client, I swear the balance updates will be mostly fvcked up and the content will be slow AF.

Every game has supports shortage because no one finds playing them fun. It's just how it is. That's a huge reason why "flex players" often end up turning into support players. It's a bigger problem in Lost Ark because of the amount of content we need to do weekly. If someone has 3 supports on their roster, by the end of the week they'll only have 3 dps to play with. Also, as someone who's highest character is an artist, unless you really love the character, pushing a support just isn't fun in this game. DPS have their fun seeing their numbers go up. As a support you... Don't see anything changing aside from a weapon glow. Also, probably a hot take, but if you wanna play alone, don't play a MMO.

One thing to add about class change ticket. Is that why not add a 1per account class change ticket that you can only use 1 per year? So if there is 2-3 balance patch that year and hopefully you want to switch to another main(be it if you already have that class or not the ticket will make sure as long as you got 1 slot free in roster you can transfer everything to a new class/main) and wont regret it. And that ticket can only be used 1 time per 1 year. And for example if you used that ticket at end of Dec 2023 you will still always get a new ticket(from event or cash shop thats up to smile gates but at least it make every happy to have option to switch if they want too) at Jan 2024 at start of the year. And if you used the ticket and came to regret it later you have that Jan 2024 ticket to change. And once you used up a ticket regardless anytime in the year you must must always wait for next years ticket if you do come to regret or anything on the issues. Again all of this can be considered both on player side and on LA model side. Seeing as there is time limit and you cant buy the ticket every single time but is gated least 1 year shouldnt maybe impact the game that much. Ofcourse we just hope that LA team wont mess up the balance patch for those who content with their ticket switch as well. Because that would just effect their current main once again. This was a pretty good example for when slayer only came out in NA/EU for like over 2months and already got somekind of nerf which felt for least in NA/EU to early. I mean those spec slayers player already even invested lvl10gem etc. to build class, trixion testing dps etc. and even bought char slot to open and make a slayer only to get slapped by a sudden nerf so early. Its pretty let down for NA and EU. And could say that that balance patch was pretty much unwanted. No wonder player seek class changetickets after balance patch. And in this recent balance patch that has find "useful" things in it is wanted by many players asap still need to wait for next year. Some might say, you see the problem here. That timing sometimes good and then there is bad. And if LA ever add class change ticket in the future they can always see if its good or bad impact and can always adjust and remove it later if need too.

They would never delete sups for 2 reasons 1-it would be a massive mess on re-assembling thins. 2-there would still be a class they would make a full sup build Suports server to buff, debuff and heal. Imagine more than 2 char in the party healling , or using shields(if you have a gunlancer in the party its basically this) I recently started honing my artist to akkan, an I fell in love with the playstyle. Its not like bard that you need to mas the keyboard(HT, GT , HT,GT) or paladin that does everything at same time, buff, heals and provide DR with a braindead rotation. Every suport should be engaging , like every dps class

I was support main until the release of akkan, then when I had to start upgrade the gems to lvl 9, I realized i wouldn't really see a difference in gameplay for such a big investment. I enjoy playing support and I still play all 3 of them on my roster but imho the major problem is the lack of feeling in char progression on that classes. Now I enjoy my 1615 predator and I'm ready to suffer the support shortage on voldis release

Supports are designed by actual smooth brains. Easiest fix in the world. Make intelligence actually matter as a stat / str / dex. But intelligence for the topic of support. Have gems increase the stat directly. Boom same increase for DPS players, now a huge increase for support players in whatever way they decide to make it matter, as it is currently those main stats to little to nothing, they really just have to rework how stats are actually used in this game, and really really gotta let go of "increases x by 300%"

As a D1 support main I think there is no solution that would fix the support shortage, because at the end of the day you are still stuck in the most boring role in the game. But deleting the role completely is among the worst ideas, because then people would be focusing only picking classes according to pure synergy. For example, you have a Slayer lobby host, of course he will pick up a gunlancer for back attack, wardancer/gunslinger for crit and glaivier for crit damage. What classes would end up being gatekept, mostly classes like Zerker, Slayer, Sorc, Souleater, Deathblade, Shadowhunter etc. basically every class that only has the "lazy team buff" to offer.

The problem of support most of player have 1 alt support class vs 5 dps class and also even u wanna play whit ur supp u have to hooning them a lot for only a single 1 alt or so.... so the sulution is 2 otions : options 1 give the support more material even non tradable cuz is a lot of help for alt hit 1580+ whit less effort or options 2 : get the support can join raid way less i lvl like akkan 1540 or ect on this way many alt support player can join higher raid for better mats and this will be help all other dps enjoyers in party find support way way easyer :D

Class change tickets would make the pug meta horrible. Meta chasers would swap to one of the top performers every "season" and cause bad classes and possibly even mediocre classes to get gatekept even more than now because there would be enough of the good ones going around. This may also incentivize people who arent meta chasers to buy those tickets. Depending on the price of those tickets, SG could make even more money by adding them, at least until the game is dead. Roster bound mats sound nice, but essentially only further push the incentive to create alts, in this case even beyond the main 6 roster because you could funnel literally everything to your main(s).

For homework raids like up to kayangel hm, a lot of my friend groups go double support 1 crit syn and slayer/db comp. A lot of them have slayers/db/(also soul eater now) as a main and aero/wd/arcanist secondary with 3-4 supports roster, and they'll just do different supports, so attack buff stacks. They breeze through raids quite easily 😂

@everboy8 I understand it's not min max, but on average; they clear quicker than pugs do. They didn't have to wait on a dps that was built to standard, synergy and after that, they didn't have to reset or take longer if that pug dps didn't do mech correctly. Rather than splitting the supps into two groups, they'd rather just do raids with themselves and not have to deal with the hassle of being disappointed. I'm not saying it's meta or any thing, it just works really well for their group. On top of them just funneling their top2 main dps since their supports don't need to hone weapons 😂😂 they're having a blast. Other friends who have 1supp 5 dps roster are currently burning out to try and hone to 1600 on alts

i agree abt the risk thing it's very annoying that easy class like predator deal more than hard class like arcana EVEN THOUGH arcana dmg isn't bad and gold river needs to change his mind about class change ticket and stop lying like he did before about dailies supposedly killing the game if they were reduced. he ended up changing them anyways.

Support problem I think can be fixed by giving every class in the game supporting abilities (or tripods) and making the current supports dps. Abilities can be the simple damage buff, shield, speed and probably lifesteal. Also reduce the boss health correspondingly to be in range of not requiring the amount of damage that the current supports can add to the party.

Idk about that... If you give everyone some measures to protect themselves it's either busted or complete trash. If you make them teamwide it'll be even worse + gatekeeping is gonna skyrocket. Also it would probably ruin some techs like pushing through certain mechs with support awakening, DR saves, important cleansing etc. You'd have to rework or remove all of the support engravings too, cuz who the fuck is gonna take Expert then. It'd be like 4 additional dead engravings.

It's kind of a similar situation with the Entropy gear set removal regarding the support engravings, what will happen to ambush and brawler? But I'm not quite sure how this is gonna make gatekeeping skyrocket.

​@@Hovokatonsharingan Except playing support is an entirely different game than DPS, whereas entropy is just a matter of positioning. It will depend on how strong the self-buffs are to keep a class alive, they aren't all gonna be the same. So if your class has dogshit sustain you're a liability to the group. If it's teamwide buffs you won't want more than 1 shielder or need a healer anyway, can't run without one. Hence gatekeeping will be even worse.

@@floo0o0 I understand that it is not the correct thing to do, but I mostly compare this thing to how it is made in Blade and Soul (game I played prior to LA). Every class was DPS, every two classes had similar types of party buffs (crit and crit damage buff, main damage skill enhancement, full cooldown reset, damage block for amount of ticks, damage block for a few seconds, ect) similar to how there are crit, speed and damage synergy abilities in LA. Although there were healing classes in BnS (which were mostly used for facetanking) there were also access to lifesteal spread out to multiple abilities per class so they didn't have much problem besides wipe mechanics. YES, this would make potions redundant in LA so it would take a LOT of time and work to manage and balance but it can work. I'm not saying they should copy paste the same stuff, but there can be some things that can be reworked similarly. In the end, all of this is just a suggestion, not a correct solution

the game launch time is due to the game being run in UE3, just the resource handling and initialization is super slow, its unfortunate since migrating over to UE5 is an extreme unrealistic amount of work contrary to if it was UE4 it'd be much easier. however! due to LA Mobile being UE5 it seems like they may have assets migrating over already and that should be a showcase example that they probably are working on it in the background

The reason for support shortage is that on an 8 man raid, you need 2 supports which makes it harder to find one specially on higher raids like thaemine. Just condense the 2 parties into 1 and make the raid require just 1 support.

I've tried playing support as I generally liked support play style in other games. But I switched to dps, just because they are more universal. It was hard to do solo content as support class. So you just can't play support as a single character, you need to play dps anyway. This can be solved by empowering support classes off party. Maybe giving them some sort of a buff, which is dispelled when support character joins party? Pure visual changes are useless, really. Another way to solve the support shortage problem would be to give a support engraving to any class, so that players could swap to support easily. Just change a preset and you're a support. Of course, it needs more detailed thinking. For example, supports use different engravings, which aren't that easy to get (so maybe giving an engraving support event for that?).

To be honest, I don't think the problem is in the game. It's the community overreacting to minor differences (setting aside PTR versions where a class does 50% more than the rest). The game has so many vertical progressions that class balance just doesn't matter so much for the vast majority of the players. Suppose I play the currently OP class (which I don't btw). So what? You could have better gems, better card sets, higher item level or item quality and still do better than me. This obviously changes in the extreme late game when you have everything maxed, but that only concerns a relative handful of players. And even then the truth is playing the "wrong" class won't make you fail. All classes will get the job done in the end. Sure, for some it will be harder. Sure, it's not ideal. But they'll get the job done. It will matter for the world first clears, but that's even smaller pool of players. Not much beside that.

Deleting supports is the absolute worst idea. What about everyone that has a roster of supporters such as myself? Also why remove the variety. A game with only dps doesn’t sound fun to me. Don’t get me wrong I like playing dps but prefer to play a support.

I currently have 5 bards (1620, 1605x3, 1580) 1 pala (1600) and an artist (1580). I think its kinda selfish to pretend to simply delete the rol. I really enjoy playing it, even if i dont see a direct impact on my dmg bufs, i can clearly see how i can make dps survive and have a better experience on raids. Imo, making supports earn more (gold or mats) could be a great solution, dont get me wrong, i dont say that bc im main sup, got more than enough gold and my roster is stacked, but ppl like gold and rewards overall, maybe that could be a reason for them to push their sups to endgame. Other solution, change visuals and skills, make them more interesting than simply pusing a key and thats it, party gets a buff. Paladin is a really good class but it has almost nothing, spam shields and dmg buffs that you dont even need to aim. Artist is much more fun simply bc you need to aim the skills, constantly moving to give allys shields. Make the content doable without the need of a sup, should be a bit harded than with one, obviously, but definetly doable if dps are good enough to dodge enemy patterns and have a good uptime.

I am glad you are talking about these topics. About supp shortage in the west : EVERY lobby, for EVERY content in west is looking for supp. Therefore sup join the strongest/jacked lobbies and obviously this extremely incentivate gatekeeping / fomo / toxicity. And took everyone away from what a game should be... which is fun. Staring at the screen and waiting HOURS to have a chance to join a lobby is NOT fun. This is a very dangerous loop that eventually will kill the fun also for day 1 players, like me, with most of my alts really well built , well prepared to do every content with ease. This, from my short experience of the game until now, is the WORST aspect of the game by FAR. The solution to this it s very hard to find, i am not sure what can be, and i don't agree on deleting the role, even if i absolutely agree about the disgusting relevance of yearning set above anything else in the game, but devs need to work on this as an absolute priority imho, somehow. I am genuinely worried that nothing will happen tbh, because all of this literally play the money game of Lost Ark. It s just that i don't want to alt-f4 in front of a lobby simulator anymore, let players...play. Sorry for wall of text.

Switching classes would probably never be done in this game because of how heavy the p2w is, and they cant justify an extreme cost on the ticket against the cost of you buying gold or honing chests: its not a fixed value. As you said, parts of support changes are just alleviating an issue. The rewards in WoW arent exactly just for support, what you get is a small bonus chest if you play a role that is currently under populated in that queue (tank/healer/dps). It doesnt contribute to progression. Augmentation is a spec i play because its new and chill, its dps with support capabilities and is measured in effective dps as the idea of the class is to be a dps that brings everyone elses dps ceiling up. As for solutions it can be difficult as they have no identifiable roles they just have strict classes. If a group runs 8 dps it wont know so it couldnt adjust mechanics that heavily rely on support or are overtuned... because thats another symptom, existance of support means a fight doesnt go through much balancing. If we could identify roles, i think a starting one for supports would be to release their party limit and have 1 support affect both groups. This way you can also bring more identity to support; what if we had a warrior support with horns or banners that provided spec/crit/swift, suddenly you have a semi-support people might play, its not another shield and heal monkey. The variety of support would be the 2nd thing to consider. And in fights where its correctly tuned to not require shields/heals 8 dps or the semi-support can be used.

I think the Visuals improvement should be like the support class could see the damage number of their buff. e.g. if a spec’s doomsday hit 10mil with the 10% damage buff from the mark, then the support will see 1mil damage in their screen,popping out from the boss,maybe using a different color. Or you can change the mark skill into a damage skill “give boss a mark that will explode after 10s, and the explode damage = 10% of the total damage that boss received during 10s” And also at the same time give all the support a road to (end game) buff, make support easier to push to the end game. I think that might solves the support shortage.

id really like to keep my support main as a support, but i think i would enjoy having skills distributed more evenly between all classes and buffing supp dmg so that they are optional instead of required. i think they also need some visual updates for sure and more variety in builds would help people have more fun on them

Memo how about if SG/AGS make it so you can earn your weekly max gold on one character this way putting less HM pressure of having to do 18 raids a week to get all your gold? Would not this help with toxicity in groups having to finish raids as fast as possible thus helping new/returning players?

Reduce all raids attack damage by 20% and buff their hp by 20% and add lifesteal to the game. Not a big amount, something to compensate for the lack of suport in the raid and also add 8-10% dmg increase to players on lobbies without suport in them.

I was talking with a friend the other day, he plays wow, showed that his character depending of what his group needs he can change the build. his class can be tank, dps or support, just change build according to what is needed. So was like wtf, he could do any role, THIS SIMPLE, no extra hone, no new character. For what I think is, lost ark needs this, why you should hone a new character if you can just change to the support role ($$$$).

Give 50% damage to supp and utility / synergy to them. Deleting is not a option. There are a lot of people who like the playstyle, just not enough for the amount of dpsers. Ps: start up of the game always felt disgustingly bad. Ps2 : ue5 would be an awesome upgrade, not just fps, graphically and who knows, maybe it helps the start up too, since I don't know if it's the anti cheat or the game itself, but the game needs a graphical update for sure.

In my opinion, the reason why people dont invest their time into support classes is because solo content as a support sucks. Now you might be asking what solo Content? Well tower is one example, supports dont deal enough dmg on solo content, same goes for chaos dungeons. I have been on the fence on if I should push my supports to higher ilvl but then I get reminded that I dont really need to push higher then the entry ilvl to the raid I wanna do because I see no benefit of wasting mats just to get accepted as quickly as I would if I didnt hone above entry ilvl. Tbh the only way smilegate can fix this issue is by removing the cap on potions you can bring into the raid, otherwise you will still be having issues with support shortage unless they give crazy dps buffs to "solo" content on supports. Like Im talking slayer cracked dps.

Unreal Engine 4 can be easily ported to UE5, but from UE3 to UE5 it is much more work, i think at some point they will do it anyways, but it will take long time, and i can only see it happening for a big update like a Season 3.

For the support issue I think that 1 support for both partys is good too or a toggle in a lobby that say no support and it will give free extra battle items like 10 extra free pots and party buff that give defense and damage e ery 14 seconds

A set that can turn a dps into a support. Give dps a 3rd class engraving where they can support if needed. Most MMO's I've played there was always a shortage of tank or healer. Even when pushing greater rifts in D3 there were the support builds and the dps ones. I enjoy the role, but would also like to switch my main to be 3/4 of a support in a pinch. From what I've noticed tho, geared groups don't have that much of an issue finding a support. It's the on ilvl, low effort alts that tend to wait forever. Once you find out there are players over 1580 in Akkan NM doing under 2 million dps it's understandable. You can't tell if a player is good, bad or great.

Class change tickets: I don't agree with class change tickets, but at the very least I think they could have the tagging system like BDO does. I also would love to see roster-bound Honour shards because they're all completely and utterly wasted on alts that get reduced to Lopang duty. My alt Artist that I left at 1475 has 500k shards that I would LOVE to be able to transfer over to my Souleater. MMOs as a genre are all about funnelling and they can't ignore this fact. One game I can think of that does the alt system decently is DFO. Support issue: I would be all for them removing supports, but they would also have to introduce a separate system that replaces the heals that we lose. The system would have to be introduced very early, whether it be through other gear or skills. It would have to be exclusive so players wouldn't have to make a choice between doing less damage and being able to survive. Some ideas off the top of my head are "When this skill hits, the person with the lowest HP recovers X HP", "Shield the person with the lowest HP for Y", or have a separate panic button with infinite uses + a relatively high cooldown (say 30 seconds) to make up for the free heals supports would normally give. They could also be integrated with class identities, or be introduced through runes. It would be a very fine line as well because Gunlancers would be top tier when supports are supposed to no longer exist. Graphics: For UE3 vs UE5, for me, as long as shifting to UE5 makes the game not take 2000 years to load I'd be all for it. If someone DC's to desktop, everyone is forced to exit because the game takes forever to load up regardless of how powerful your PC is. A fourth issue I feel is about runes, I don't know why C+J has to exist. Some classes rely on proccing C+J to even do their rotation properly, and we can't even control when it procs without screwing up our rotation a lot of the time. If I know I have C+J up then I'd want to avoid using the Judgement skill during a stagger check. Drizzle Aeromancer almost completely relies on C+J to get in her second rotation within Sunshower. UmarLaz is also a problem because you have no control over when you can use it, and there's the double whammy of not knowing when these RNG proc effects are off cooldown. Players (and people in general) love consistency, if it's completely random then classes that use these RNG procs will have to hold damage until they're certain they have it off cooldown.

The biggest mistake the lost ark devs decided to do was add supports to this game. The game was meant to not follow the traditional tank/sup/dps meta of mmos and be a full dps game with self reliant dps, but somewhere during development they fked it and added supports and now the whole game is reliant on them. This game would of been perfect if it launched with just full dps parties and each dps were self reliant. They shot themselves in the foot the second they added supports.

They should implement the system in bdo. You can coppy the gear on another character from one of your chosing with no limits to how many and gets upgraded when you upgrade the one on your main/favourite. This way you use all your resources to advance one character and the rest along with it. Or at the very least, if you have a reaper to be able to transfer the ilvl to all the assassins, if you have a destroyer to be able to transfer the ilvl to all the wariors, etc. They will make easy money if they port ue3 to 5 because the glow and textures will look unreal. no pun intended

if new supp comes out its all the same. swift/spec build and just spam shield and DR. need new support that uses crit, expertise, endurance stats. your crit heals party, your stagger % heals party, when u get hit by boss during (x skills), it heals party.

Remove potions limits to reduce the reliance on supports. Nobody wants to get held hostage in a lobby cause of a lack and dependency of supports.

Hmmm......Quite inspiring, remind me of the Theory of War, "Attack is the best form of defense!". But instead of removing supporter, I will prefer making healer can also be an attacker. Because healer is definitely needed in a team (save your money in making potion yourself). But for healer game experience which can only always watch their attacker teammates competling each other to get MVP, why not making healer an attacker as well? For my experience, like playing Dragon Nest, the healer character like cleric can also deal a very considerable damage compete with those attacker in game. In this case, they could stay long in the raid and settle down the boss themself in longer time even when all attackers were dead. If you think it will be unfair, as they can even heal themselves during PVP, but this is when and how the attacker players show their techniques and control to dominate the competition. It is hard and challenging, but not impossible. Or maybe an idea of revival skills at least? When all attackers were dead, the healer can revive 1 of them every 360 seconds to stay until they clear the stage.

Can't agree more with the "delete the support classes from the game" but there are many ways to do it, maybe some of them will make your game too similar to others but let's face it, forcing a specific class (3/28) for EVERY SINGLE content in the game is just too much. People cope saying that they like playing support but you and I well fucking know that sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and play it because otherwise groups won't PLAY the game. Luckily I think there are a good amount of defensive synergies on DPS classes that are quickly ignored, just need to drop a few more and give some sort of healing even if it's weak to like 1/3 of the dpses and there you go. Yearning on the allegedly weakest dps or the one who couldn't care less and GG, more enjoyable game instantly

I have 2 opinions on supports. 1: either make support buffs raid wide so you only need to wait for 1 support regardless of the raid and every party gets shields, heals, and dmg buff. I know for bard and artist this could be bad cuz their shields have very small range compared to paladin but its better than waiting 30 minutes for 2 supps. 2: rework them so they dont give damage buffs to the team but instead they do the damage themselves while still providing heal and shield. Like a blue gunlancer but with better shield uptime and a heal in their kit. I would honestly play a full support roster if they did damage instead of buffing the team. But in my opinion the direction goldriver is taking with just giving them more mvp or making the class "more fun" is pointless its basically polishing a turd at this point

Hm, I agree, just making supports "more interesting" or something like that is not a good long term solution. They should do that anyway, but long term, there needs to be another system. Just deleting supports would work, but I think I have a slightly modified and better version that could include people who enjoy playing supports. I think if you have supports, the game is great. So we need a solution only for the situation where you don't have support. What we do in the west if we outgear content and can't find support is: have one dps use yearning and use pots. You could build on that idea. Why not have a gear set (set bonus, card set, skills/tripods etc) anyone can change into, so any class/player can be support if you can't find a player. Shouldn't be that hard, have a periodic shield, some heals, speed/dmg buffs... This way you don't have to change a lot and parties who don't find sups have options.

Add new engravings that let other classes become a type of support build. is a Win for developers because people would need more resources to build an alternate build for each class/character. and .... opens up theory crafting trying to make a balance/hybrid type of builds that do synergy with other classes, etc....

Sounds good in theory, might backfire though. No matter how much you tweak on builds the playerbase will always find an "optimal" build. Given your Idea it would come down to a dps and a "Support" build on every class and like 95% of dps players are not willing to spent for the latter.

I don't want to join a guild in lost ark or any other game. I want to solo all the weekly raids even if it's impossible. I think it's annoying that I need 7 other randoms to unlock a gate.

It could be cool if supports could accumulate contributed damage and had a move that released the accumulated damage. Giving supports a reward for doing their role that they can actually appreciate could improve the appeal of support gameplay. Accumulated shields/healing somehow translating to bonus damage somewhere could be fun. According to unreal engine forums, upgrading a game from Unreal Engine 4 into UE5 is actually kinda simple. BUT upgrading a unreal engine3 project to 4 OR 5 is kinda hard to the point that Epic games themselves don't think its easy to do and recommend against it as opposed to rebuilding your game up from the ground. Seeing the Mobile game on UE5 is kinda interesting because maybe it helped them learn how they could rebuild a lot of Lost Ark pc content and mechanics in UE5.

deleting supports wouldnt fix anything. if anything it will cause more harm since lobbies will still gatekeep dps, maybe even harsher than its been done up until now. a large amount of the supporters are actual mains that enjoy supporting specifically without having the stress of needing to keep high uptime of dps or stressing about positioning too much.

Yea, support shortage is huge and you can see increasingly becoming an issue in the west. They just aren’t fun and there’s only 3 options. Is deleting them extreme, yes, but is it the best current, quick solution, probably also yes.

I think that the raiding formula that Lost Ark currently has is a bit archaic. Remove supports I agree. What Maplestory did and many other games is turn the support classes into DPS classes while having a few UNIQUE (not necessary or crucial for prog/reclear) supportive interactions such as Shielding, Target DR (Rhapsody), Cleanse (Pallys, SF, Artists) or Resurrects (other games). Remove yearning set, redistribute that power into other sets or party synergies and also remove the potion restrictions in raids. Not only would that be friendlier for mokokos, I also feel like it's a bit of an artificial difficulty that makes it even MORE necessary to have supports. Most raid progress will not be overcome by removing potion restrictions since major mechs will one shot you but also it would alleviate having a support for their 'necessary' healing/shielding capabilities. To balance removing potion restrictions, you could also increase the cooldown between usages too. (Currently 10 seconds for every potion usage > increase it to like 15 or 20 idk) This way I think the current supports will find new ways to have fun, also have skill expression through their unique interactions as listed above, while also being relevant in a raid. I don't think they should be absolutely top tier DPS otherwise but they should still absolutely have relevance. I think if they were to balance it like this supports would not feel bad at a major rework since they are still 'wanted' (like a Gunlancer) and they can still have fun too DPSing. I mean the concept of Bard is pretty sick for a DPS, just not its current iteration. A music orientated DPS class? I'm sure people can get creative with that. People have already WISHED for a DPS paladin to be real. The concept of a holy knight is already pretty sick. As for Artist, I mean they already have a pretty fun DPS build with them summoning ink animals, so they could just double down on that. I'm just coping over here, change is not coming soon to this degree but its still fun to think about the potential Lost Ark has. I just know one thing, supports are currently mandatory in any relevant raid, so yes, remove them and redistribute the power.

Support role has always been lacking in every mmorpg, people wants to see their character grow and if you're a supp main you dont even realize how much you've grown with each upgrade, see it this way, weapon quality upgrade on support is totally useless if you get a 100 qual on your support you can go cry because you didn't get it on a dps, also let's say you get +25 wep and big elixirs upgrades, if you're not in a static with a dps screaming how much damage they did thanks to you, you will not really realize how much you're contributing now. Changing supports into a dps role or removing them completely will just make actual supports main quit the game and go play something else, some people are just seeing the problem as a dps main that sit in a lobby and they're not thinking about the 20% or more of players that will basically quit and play something else. There are supports main that only play support because they like the role, and there could be more supports if they were to introduce a way for a support to actually feel how much they're doing, more support classes or hybrid (damage+supporting) classes that doesn't invalidate the role of the support and are an actual sidegrade to getting a supp, and even give supports a big buff in solo content so they dont have to make high ilvl dps alts just to do contents like tower/bridge, I dont think doing just one of the things listed (like seeing numbers of dmg% increase, mitagated etc..) will fix the problem, they need to do everything they can think of.

After seeing this video in youtube title: Lost Ark Has a Support Shortage (AGAIN) - EASY FIX Quick summery and my take on it: If you got at least 1 sup in your roster 1 sup out of max 6char gold earned that week will get in the 3 end game raid 2x gold reward. So incentivize to least have 1 sup(+5 dps or +5sup still same total 6char) use for any player. solution should also add not only dmg but also how much protection sup did on the team. And shouldnt need to always be incentivized that "sup" must luckily in timing add buff to give that dps number to other teams because it could become a discriminatory thing if sup are still new or just have lower gem with not much cooldown to timing to give every team that buff and dps windows this is one factor of sup build and what gem CD lvl they might be using. Also because every class is different and have different uptime/playstyle and boss movements etc also is factor it doesnt always sync with sup buff time. So this could just be forgiving even if sup is noob or expert as long as u able get sup in team its good anyway. We dont want to be discouraging to sup to be blamed if its uptime isnt sync and so on. Even if there are decent sup out there dps and buff doesnt always sync together in raids. But the dps will sometime sync with sup buff is also abit of luck and timing so its win win as long as you got sup in the raid. And what accumulated of getting sup as MVP is not how much you missed those dps windows or gotten less defense on party because of long cooldown uptime on sup skills. Its about how much you contributed to give teams buff that succeeded to be able and lucky to sync them and we dont need to show any window of dps indicator here that can maybe shame sup if he or she missed or did not exactly timing it because all of these could be other factors of why they missed the buff and not sync with other players skill because of timing/CD and boss movements and unlucky atk that didnt hit even with buff etc. In end solution 1 seems pretty ok to incentivize with 1sup getting bonus gold. And if there is this feeling of "add some dmg meter for sup only to make it enjoyable to play" there could be options to only make sup able to see it and no one else. If they still wanna be anonymous(AKA dont need to hear other opinion if you where good or bad sup -narrative) of how much they contributed to the party but at least they are only ones that can see those numbers and if they want to self improve on that then its good for them and hope they enjoy it.

Yeah, deleting supporter is 100% the way. Speaking as someone who enjoys high-level Bard. - No support shortage - Less gatekeeping (since there's 2 more dps slots and no more picky supports) - Super quick party setups - Enables matchmaking (if you like that), - No dps shortage in lower-level raids or guardians. This would make the game so much more enjoyable and solve some of Lost Ark's core issues. As for the issue of some people liking support, something they could do is make supports infinitely less required. Remove Yearning, less impactful buffs, very few shields/DR (perhaps they can keep Rhapsodies and Awakening shields for example), and only a few ease-of-use dps skills. Like a Gunlancer with more focus on helping your team, not required by any means but nice to have.

My simple solution is let the support class have a good and very viable DPS spec that is not memed on and that players can have so they can at will change btw support and dps to help the party finder. this other game called Neverwinter dungeon and dragons online had this feature for healers and buffers they also had as much competitive and fun spec on the DPS side but also had the support side available. Id would help in some way . we litteraly had sometimes in some groups too many healers so some people would swap to dps ! might not be a permanant solution but its clearly something that's helpful ! and in my eye better then removing the idea of supports as it curently is

What if they changed it so the game worked on a mastery system? You would choose a mastery tier such as fighter/assassin/mage and you start off with one of the subclasses. Later on when you essentially gain a mastery of that class, you should be able to switch to another subclass within that mastery. I think that would help give variety in letting people switch and could help with the support issue of many people turning throwaway classes that they don't like anymore into support if they are in that sub category for example, turning an alt summoner they don't like but honed from the event into a bard.

Remake the supports to dpsclasses, thats 3 remakes instead of rebalancing 25. And rebuild yearning to be used as a support armorset useable on any character, add the supportbuffs via armorset instead of via class skills. That way anyone can play their precious ungabungas and stop crying. Cute to see all the crying from ppl having to wait "a couple of minutes" when a new player never have any chance at all of getting into the game. The supportshortage aint killing the game, the lack of new ppl playing is killing the game.

If there's no support in the party give some sort of buff, or maybe add like a tripod or rune that you can use which helps with survavibility in case there's no support. Or just nerf the yearning set, maybe buff the other sets with speed rather than it being on support. The moment support dies you're slow af

I feel like dps classes should have another engraving option / tripods that are more supportive. Don’t make it as strong as the supports but at least viable where if no supports are available we can swap engravings and tripods to a support build

supports most certainly shouldn't be deleted, however i think making them less mandatory would go a long way

Allow supports to enter 6 gold earning events per week. Thereby, support population has effectively increased overnight and there is the incentive for more to enter the pool.

I think increasing the resources and deleting the limit of 3 raids on supports could make it way better. Like, if I could reclear the last raid (currently Akkan for West) multiple times on my main support, it would be great! I would be able to help guildies/friends and get some extra gold/mats. It's a win-win situation. Also, the support classes need more variety. They only have 1 support engraving, so there is only 1 playstyle per support. Most of my tripods are "1 (max)" and threre is only 1 option for the relic set effects. Why DPS have two engravings and over five options for relic set and sups dont??
