_________________________________________________________
The Angel face you see is the Haserot, named “The Angel of Death Victorious". The stoic angel is seated on the marble gravestone of canning entrepreneur Francis Haserot and his family. Holding an extinguished torch upside-down, it represents a symbol of life extinguished. Wings are outstretched and the gaze is straight ahead.
IN THE END, DEATH ALWAYS WINS. LEST THE FACES NOT BE FORGOTTEN...
This channel is focused on casually walking and viewing a handful of the thousands of forgotten names and faces at various cemeteries near and afar. Seeing their faces up close. And when able, telling the stories behind their names.
Most graves are unknown and lost to history.
Some are famous.
And some infamous....
....and some with tragic endings.

Someone needs to report it to the City.

@@veronicathode1466 The city likely already knows about, but most cities don't take care of abandoned cemeteries. Most are on private land, and those on city property but not within a residential or business area are ignored, along with the unused property around them.

It looks to me like some of the stones have been replaced, maybe in the last 50 years. It looks like someone was taking care of the cemetery at one time, but it doesn't take many years of neglect for it to get to be very overgrown. It is too big a job for one person or family. Maybe the family can donate the land and some extra to the City to expand the cemetery, and in return the City can upkeep the entire thing.

This cemetery was documented on Findagrave in 2010, it's the Wray-Imeson Cemetery in Spring Grove, McHenry County, Illinois, USA. It's really sad that families don't know enough of their own family history to know where their people are buried, or take care of their graves.

Where i live there is an abandoned children's cemetery. They move the majority of it but left some of the bodies because they died of typhoid or some old timey disease. The forest grew thick around the picket fenced graves so hardly any light gets in, it's really spooky in there!

Hello Ron, I am back checking out your videos . The babies/adults, cemeteries should not be forgotten! The historical societies should make sure that these old/,new cemeteries should not be forgotten! A lot of businesses/ companies want to build on top of them after they move the head stones! Then you wander why a lot of hones/houses, businesses, grounds shaking churches haunted as well etc. etc, They are disturbing the dead! There is no respect for the dead!

I am also a history buff, Ron, and I enjoyed this so much! It's sad that the trees have reclaimed the cemetery, but great that you found it and took us with you. Kudos to the fabulous lady who found all of the information and pictures of Jonathan Imerson and his family. Learning about his twin daughters Elizabeth and Mary was very interesting, and that the twin lakes are named for them! Did you say that you used to fish there when you were a kid? Wow! Thank you again for sharing your discovery, and for all of the hard work you do.

First, thank you Ron for another exciting adventure. Please check yourself for ticks after tromping around in the woods ( my son is a National Park Ranger and I nag him as well). Secondly, I once found an old abandoned cemetery in a wooded area of Aberdeen Proving Ground, Aberdeen Md when out hiking with my Dad fifty years ago and I always wondered what happened when land gets bought and families move away and there is no one left to care for the departed. It seems like there should be some agency that cares for those who have no one left. Anyway, there is an obit for the one person whose stone you found on Find a grave, John Caesar Craine (1853- 1902) if anyone is interested. Thanks again Ron.

It's unbelievable to me that towns let cemeteries go like this. This lost cemetery is equal to the one at Gompers Park in Labagh Woods. It's just so sad. How does nobody care about this? It should be a top priority. I always thought Chicago had one of the few left this way but now I'm beginning to think that it was just one of many. That's heartbreaking. Your amazing the things you find!

Very interesting adventure here. It’s a shame the cemetery can’t be cleaned up and respected. Thank you and Deb for researching and bringing the family, the names, the photos back to life. As sad as it is, my own family has a cemetery on the back corner of an old farm. Originally was the family farm. My great grandparents and a great great grandfather are there, as well as about 40 graves. I haven’t been there since the 1960’s. I spoke to a cousin recently, the farm belongs to someone else outside of our family. We both said it’d be nice to go there to visit cemetery. Although a bit hard as we’re older. It’s 3 hours away. Maybe I can sometime. We’d have to get permission to onto the land. Good video Ron 🙋‍♂️🐈🐈

My husband and I accidentally found a body once. Partially buried on the side of the road... he'd been missing and dead for a year to the day we found him. We found out of course later, the details of his life, and while he was not a nice man, they did arrest and convict two men for his murder. It was a very creepy event that we've never forgotten.

Thanks for sharing Ron. That chipmunk chirping in the background is sounding a warning because you're in their territory. I guess they're not used to having a person walking so close to them. What a sin that the cemetery looks like that. At least it wasn't a wasted trip. Those stones were interesting. It would be nice to have the cemetery cleaned up or like you said clear paths to make it easier. The story was really interesting. My day is complete. Take care Ron.
