Yeah, they got the cast of Three Houses for the game and the game plays like it too. I haven't played it myself, but my friend thinks the game is kinda meh.

For being an indy game, its very good. Its got flaws, sure....But the story is decent, the voice acting is great, and the gameplay is about as close to a fire emblem alternative as your going to find right now. I finished it twice already. The devs are great and very active talking to people and taking suggestions. They plan on improving and updating the game as well, along with future patches and DLC, and even have a vote page to see what people want added or altered in the game. I personally recommend it to all fans of Fire Emblem. Basically, its like Fire Emblem with Dragon Age Inquisition graphics.

Interesting does it actually have some difficulty curve and settings too? As the bits demoed here seem rather too easy - hit them for 90%+ of their health take perhaps 2% on the return - it seems like the opponents have very little threat to them, and that would rule it out for me, as I want these type of games to actually pose a real tactical challenge.

I don’t often see Western stuff use comedy for tonal balance (likely due to the difficulty of doing so without issue), but that Leviana recruitment is incredible. It is both the logical conclusion to the “ponder the orb” meme, a good introduction to what she’s like, and a good world-building moment, and I am very impressed. I might have to check this one out.

Oh wow this was unexpected. I got lost Eidolons when it was released last week. Only about 8 or 9 chapters in but have been mostly enjoying it. My main problem the pacing in the dialogue, as the pauses in between characters just feels longer than other games and it slightly annoys me.

Saw ads for this a few times. Generally skipped over them cause the graphics made it look like a poorly made phone game cash grab from a glance. I'm really glad I watched this video now, it really helped clear away that image and I'll definitely check the game out

If it's demo-able I'll certainly give it a shot. Im interested to see if it can be a fft Fe hybrid without just becoming an fft game like so many others I've been recommended (I just can't get behind the tactics style just not me) Obviously this feed back shouldnt be taken too seriously as I haven't even laid my hands on it yet but one thing Id like to input is a lack of input audio feedback(I'll try to elaborate but this is very hard for me to explain via text). You know how in like Fe each time you move your cursor in the menus, click an input, or enter combat youll get a nice and clear *blip*, *Kling*, *clash/woosh*. It's a very minute detail but it does soooo much in keeping the engagement of whatever it is I'm doing imo. Not saying they gotta blow my ears out but entering and exiting combat had no audio cues and the clicks (im sorry if this sounds harsh it's the best comparison Ive got) sounded like something I'd here from my grandma puzzle of poker comp games. Adding some subtle wind *wooshes* of the combat stuff and making the *tcks* have ever so slightly more umf would go a long way. (Very sorry this took so long to explain I hope I was somewhat clear on what I was talking about) If I give it a try ill add more feedback here as well as reviews. Regardless of my take though more people trying the Fe formula means more eyes on the genre meaning more chances of something good, so their work is greatly appreciated.

I'm on chapter 13, I guess. Loving the game. Have been testing it since the first demo, rolled all the betas and took part on the suggestion tool, they're very good implementing things we asked on the betas. It's very solid compared to most indie tactical RPGs we have. It does also support many languages, got surprised seeing the game running in portuguese on the last beta, haha.

Something about the camera motion in this game's cut-scenes really reminds me of Kingdom Under Fire. Which is generally a good thing, but just a really weird feeling at the same time.

Tbh Dark Deity really impressed me when I played it, so I trust your judgement Ghast! At first I was a bit put off by the realism and the lack of “animeness” for a lack of a better word. But by the end of the video I definitely didn’t mind as much anymore. There seems to be a ton to do outside of battle, which - as one of the only pro-monastery 3H fans - I think is really important and fun!

Where Engage looks like a Genshin Impact with Fire Emblem and some Stand/Persona gimmick, this game looks like The Elder Scrolls mixed in with Fire Emblem gameplays mechanics. Either Way I'm down for this. I'll have to either get a steam account or wait for a PS5/Switch release.

Font-size-to-screen-ratio is a very serious issue, I can barely read some things on my 20-some inch monitor at 1080p fullscreen, which also tells me the game is borderline unplayable on the Steam Deck. The game should first and foremost be legible, otherwise the subtitles and UI serve no purpose, 4x the subtitles and 2~3x the UI would go a long ways to making the game playable.

for what its worth: in the graphics settings you can adjust the subtitles to several sizes bigger.

@@Faerghast That's good news for the subtitles at least. But they really do need to improve the font size of the UI, even if it means they need to upsize the UI to accommodate it. The level up screens suffer a large-yet-empty-feeling due to the disparity of large UI to tiny font. Meanwhile most other pieces of the UI are unnecessarily small which in turn seems to limit the font size. The developer really needs to play around with the UI and find the sweet spot between 'empty' and 'cluttered', rather than aiming for

While the mechanics and gameplay look interesting... the story and the aesthetics look dull. There is a further problem where looking at the gameplay, the map really doesn't feel as readable as, say, an FE game. Everyone looks like a shade of brown, grey or metal. From what I saw, none of that seemed to pop in the way that FE characters do.

Watching this makes me *SO* glad we're getting Engage. I absolutely can't stand "gritty" and "realistic" games that try to have a "serious" story. The art is so boring, there was a point where all the character faces on the map looked the same. And it even has that awful ironic western "humor", I couldn't stop cringing at that whole orb pondering sequence. I know some people are worried that Engage will be "too anime", but that's a big plus in my book and I'd prefer it to something like this.

The graphics look fine and the gameplay looks great but the color pallet looks very bland. Also what's with the complete lack of facial animations? They barely move they're lips when they speak and they do not emote at all. If your willing to put the time and money into combat animations you need to do the same with the facial animations especially if the story is an important aspect of your game.

These characters couldn’t look anymore generic though. They all look like side characters in a low budget game. If they should have taken any inspiration from fire emblem it should have been the character designs and cool art direction. As an indie game studio they should have focused on sprites. Instead of these ugly 3d models with bad performance.
