I like how Wanda refers to Timmy as a "client" in the pilot, and how in the main series, their relationship develops into an actual parental and nurturing one. May've been unintentional, but it feels like character development to me.

She wasn't even evil so much as she was just your run-of-the mill shitty babysitter. A jerk, but she still technically took care of Timmy. She didn't actively try to hurt him. Just load him with chores and made him go to bed early... and eat anchovy pizza, which was gross, but at least he's eating something.

Rest In Peace, Mary Kay Bergman ❤️ Edit: I knew who she was from watching South Park and found out about her death after the appearance of her last character that she played, Rebecca Cotswolds (who never reappeared on the show due to Mary Kay’s death.) I had no idea she was on the pilot for Fairly Odd Parents, although she did voice act for many different projects.

1. This animation is, in my opinion, 1,000,000,000x better than flash animation. 2. Cosmo's original voice was so much nicer to listen to. 3. I think the magic 9 ball is much more creative than going to a pet store. 4. I absolutely miss the old Cosmo and Wanda. This is when they were still two halves of a whole idiot. 5. Cosmo was funnier when he sounded all suave and masculine. 6. This show should've ended if not at Channel Chasers, then after season 6 or 7 while it still had some dignity. 7. COSMO WAS SO MUCH BETTER WITH THE DEEPER VOICE!

Boy I remember how mind-blown I was when I found out Mom and Dad shared voice actors with Cosmo and Wanda. It's like it added a layer of nuance to the show. I don't know if that was intended, but it's cool. Not totally relevant, but I was also totally mind-blown when I realized Johnny Frost on iZombie is Daran Norris!

That pet store idea is too cliche. I like this one way better I actually really like the pacing here. I find modern cartoons to have way too fast pacing. I love Cosmos old voice and I really like the interactions between Cosmo and Wanda I got used to the animation after the first couple episodes so even if it wasn't refined, I wouldn't mind it like this. It obviously turned out nicer in the offical first season.

Boy, does this bring back memories! I was seven years old when this came out. Even after 20 years, the pilot still holds up: both comedy, and character-wise. If I had erased from my mind that I had ever heard of _The Fairly Odd Parents_ , and I saw this with a fresh pair of eyes, I would definitely say, "I want more of this!". The animation for this pilot is very stiff, and stretchy compared to what the show eventually became, but, overall, it was a great starting point establishing the characters, rules, and story in that limited amount of time.

I remember watching this pilot on television the first time 20 years ago as a kindergartner thinking, “yeah I wanna be just like Timmy someday.” I thought it was the greatest shows that got me through elementary school. It's so amazing how much the Fairly OddParents has changed since 1998! It started out as a hobby project you made that had potential, and then it evolved into an amazing cartoon of my childhood! However, slowly but surely, the show started to go downhill! Sadly, the show will never be the same as it was! At least Spongebob is recovering from it's dark era! But you make a good point! Developing the show can be very fun! Btw, when will you draw more Pokemon? Your first Pokemon drawing video has had over 25K likes for a long time now!

For the going to the pet store part, like you said, it wouldn't make any sense, like why now did he go and not before, that would be a quite stupid purpose, but what could of worked is that Timmy always had fish but Vicky flushes them, or even better, use the fish as a topping, either way though, and he ends up going to the pet store to get new fish and those fish ended up being Timmy's Fairy Odd parents. P.S I only watched until the part where you mentioned about the pet store when typing this, I didn't know Vicky would say that, I watched the pilot before but not this far, but that would of worked perfectly if Vicky flushes his first fish.

I think the one big change I would make would be to have never added Chloe. She just... doesn't work. I really don't think the idea that her needing to share fairies with Timmy due to a fairy shortage made sense after fairy overpopulation was made such a huge deal as a reason why fairies weren't allowed to have kids (barring Timmy wishing for Poof); her reason for needing fairies in the first place just seems equally as undeserved, to me. Overall, FOP was a big part of my childhood and I have soooooo many fond memories of this show.

If you had done the thing where Timmy buys fish at a pet store and those turn out to be the fairies, than 2 things: 1) it would look like Timmy had gotten fairies out of pure luck 2) how would you then develop the whole thing where fairies are assigned to kids in need? Cosmo sounds so different now. Cosmo in the pilot sounded a lot more like Mr. Turner. Overall Cosmo and Wanda have higher voices now than in the pilot.

Man, I loved this back in the day. Honestly I love old Cosmo's older voice, it just made every line naturally funnier, and he was genuinely very witty.

i haven't seen this pilot in years but i remember seeing it back in the late 90s this show has evolved a lot. unfortunately it kinda overstated its welcome. dont get me wrong the show it great but once that dog sparky came in the picture i lost interest after that. spongebob has the same issue i really dont know how its still going after 20 years...

The pilot of this is just like the first episode of Adventure Time. It's random, but has some sort of plot to it that can be hard to find at first. And, just like the first episode of Adventure Time, I absolutely love this. I saw the series a few years after it came out. Remember those small screens with the very tiny disks they used to have? The first thing my mom bought for me was the pilot and first two episodes of the show and I absolutely fell in love with it. At my dads house I turned on the TV and went to the Nick channel and saw the title of the show. I watched it until I couldn't watch it no more and it was the best time of my life. Years later I find Danny Phantom and Tuff Puppy, and after a while realized that they both were made by the famous Butch Hartman, creator of The Fairly OddParents. My childhood had finally been complete, with a little Invader Zim, Adventure Time, and Winx Club in it. Plus some little Nick shows here and there that I wish hadn't been canceled.

1. I didn't realize that Wanda's goldfish design was darker than Cosmo's. 2. Cosmo and Wanda seemed a lot happier back then. They were so cute and flirty, like when parents are being coy and the kids don't pick up on it. Then, when the running joke just became Wanda being a nag and Cosmo being an idiot, they seemed to be annoyed with each other more. "Why was this the honeymoon phase and why did it have to end?" "Because character development." lol.

This channel is refreshing !!! Something completly opposite that youtube has become these days, lot of vlogers drama, diss tracks , etc. I am so glad i found your channel recently and i cant stop watching ! When i was younger i also used to come up with my original characters, but for some reason i stopped drawing and now ,you are inspiring me to start drawing again. The pilot reminds me a lot of Cow & Chicken, both in the animation style of the backgrounds and how the parent's are never shown. I actually refer this version of Cosmo to the current nit-wit, and the dynamic of the fairies' characters was really fun. The current versions feel a lot... flatter? Anyway, loved it.

Yep, it's true. I think the actor that replaced him emulated his style as closely as he could at first, but gradually changed it up over the years. Hence why he sounded so similar at the beginning of the series. Edit: Apparently he died before he could record any of the dialogue :( Sorry for the misinformation. Even if it's just speculation, I'm sure his voice was the foundation of the character
