I believe the entire area has underground rivers. Look up Kokoweef in the Mojave Desert. Death Valley is one of my favorite places. I am rewatching Death Valley Days right now. I love the 20 Mule Team. I dream of being a Mule Skinner back in the day! I know, I am weird! It just captivates me. Good job on this story, as usual.

It called the Kokoweef Peak Treasure. Do some research and you will find, there is a underground river for that area. So the legend must be true. Search youtube for more videos on this subject.
