Keep Blondie.. Yes !! 👍I only have The Waterboys on Cd. Tony Joe White is a treasure, for sure ! I love my Lee & Nancy US OG copy, and Sparks is a keeper. OMD is a keeper, most definitely ! This was fun, Dale

Thanks and glad we see eye to eye on these. Nancy & Lee is a great album and a definite keeper in my collection

Yeah.. I enjoy Nancy's 60's output as well. Lee is usually on a lot of those, don't you think Dale ? I like your video's.. Keep up the good work ! Cheers

Hi Dale, Richard and I were saying the other day that we enjoy your purge videos 😃 VDGG, I have one of theirs and a solo Hammil, and I agree, not my cup of tea either. Yes Sparks is a later in the evening keeper. The Who was a surprise, but overall you didn’t really seem in a purging mood 😂 Mike

Hi Mike - As I get deeper into the heart of the collection the purge decisions are getting a but tougher...

Hi Dale. For years I've been collecting phrases garnered from VC videos that would make good or funny T-shirts. From this video, 'Fair play to The Who' is a strong contender.

Fair play to you for collecting VC phrases James

It would be better if I could be bothered to make the T-shirts.

Considering The Waterboys is in my top 5 favorite albums you better keep it

I certainly will sir!

Hi dale. I’m just recovering from your assessment of my generation .. I had to check if it was April 1st … 😃

Sorry to put you through that Rob...

I have a few like Blonde, that I keep too, but I can't remember the last time I listen to them. Cool video!

I agree some records are keepers even if you rarely play them...

Hi Dale Good choice not to keep My Generation..i love The Who but it's easily the weakest album from their 60s output and definitely not essential. Fishermans' Blues is terrific, very folky and acoustic listen..i used to busk the title track endlessly years ago in Solihull Town Centre. Lee Hazelwood is an interesting artist, i rarely see his albums apart from Lee and Nancy. Glad you decided to keep Kimono my House, almost my favourite of theirs after Indiscreet. Dazzle Ships is a terrific left field listen..my favourite along with Architecture and Morality. I'm still considering culling more records from my own collection..we'll see. Cheers Rob.

Hi Rob, good to know you have Fisherman's Blues in your armoury. I really enjoyed Dazzle Ships and maybe I'll rescue Architecture and Morality from the sell pile...

Hi Dale - there is always some tension with these videos while we wait to find out if you are keeping the record or not. I don't think I have any 7 o'clock in the morning albums! I am relieved that you are keeping Dazzle Ships 🙂

Hi, two Mukhtar Idii songs on that Somali compilation, Bayoo and Check Up Your Head, are great. Got them on my playlist. Check out his Dur-Dur Band if you didn't already. Greetings

I have heard a few Dur-Dur Band tracks on comps but not a full album. I know he was everywhere a year or two ago, must add to the list

Hi Dale, I'm a fan of the Adam Blessing albums too - need to give them a spin soon. Tony Joe White is an artist who, when I've heard him, I've liked, but I don't own anything by him. I get what you're saying about My Generation is still a keeper. Kimono is really the only Sparks album I enjoy - worth keeping for This Town - one of the greatest singles ever. And then - as you're wont to do - you go and break my heart! Getting rid of Pawn Hearts - how could you? Peter Hamill is one of the best vocalists out there. Cheers... Pete

I may regret My Generation. It's one that is for sale but I'm not desperate for it to sell. If it's still sitting there in a year it may get a reprieve...Sorry to break your heart again Pete. You can probably guess the outcome now when I show a really 'proggy-prog' album...

I’m a big fan of The Waterboys and Fisherman’s Blues is my second favorite. I have one Tony Joe White album but have meant to get more, I just haven’t. I was surprised about My Generation as I have always thought their debut was better than The Beatles and Stones first releases.
@gatefold336 ай бұрын
I'd recommend any of Tony Joe White's first six but think 'Homemade Ice Cream' is probably my favourite. My Generation may well be better than the debuts by the Stones and Beatles. I'd probably purge both of those too if it wasn't for the fact they are part of box sets...

You’ll be making someone happy down the road with that VDGG purge. I probably have more broad tastes in prog than you so that’s all right. I never run across any Tony Joe White in the wild try as I might. Sparks are an act that you know you should like but really don’t deep in your heart. If you got rid you’d probably be banished from the VC 😂😂. Cheers Dale.

I think you are spot on with that assessment of Sparks Jack. But let's keep it to ourselves...

Just interesting to hear your sifting process so much with myself I'm hearing and changing my mind about previously established keepers and cullings changing way around them (think that makes sense).
@gatefold335 ай бұрын
Especially now I've got rid of a lot of the dead wood, I am being a bit more cautious...

@@gatefold33 that's life and totally understandable. Was just commenting on. Richard Warwick video in a similar vein. Some albums come along so regularly anyway or they are easy to buy again. I'm building up alot to sell/clear out. Nice having a break from fairs and getting into the music again.

Hi Dale, I'm a little surprised about My Generation. Not their best album admittedly but still pretty good. VDGG you either love them or you hate them. I love them. Pleased you decided to keep Sparks.
@gatefold335 ай бұрын
Thanks Mike - I must admit I won't be disappointed if the My Generation album sits on the sell pile for a while - it may get a reprieve if it's still there next year...
