A father and daughter, and the lifelong shared love of the hunt. But the determination to take an elk drives the hunters to drive dangerously deep into the Oregon wilderness.
Fight to Survive tells the inspiring true stories of outdoorsmen who have faced down death in the wilderness and lived to tell their story. Adventurer, author and survivor Craig DeMartino kicks off the series with his own story.

Her proudest moment was killing a buck. I was walking through the woods in Alaska and came upon a large moose with her baby. I told my German shepherd not to bark, he din't. I just said hi moose as she was eye balling me and I just kept walking. Never would I have ended her life, for what reason? the markets have plenty of food.

A common theme - people flying rescue helicopters can hardly ever spot people in need of rescue. Could they not have a camera recording so they can scrutinise the film after they get back and maybe see something they couldn’t see with the naked eye?

Comment section is being weirdly harsh. Yeah she made a stupid mistake like most folks in these videos, but she knew to stay put for the first night, foraged her own food, made a shelter, and dragged herself places with a messed up leg! Certainly a much more badass person than many on these programmes. Also, loads of comments slagging off her hunting. Which I get. But most hunters follow strict laws over what animals they can kill, and eat them too! Much better than the current mass meat industry where animals suffer and are pumped with chemicals and are overcrowded.

I wouldn't be able to bring myself to shoot a buck I just would not pull the trigger. Lesson to learn is that you listen to your parents and do what they say not what they don't want you to do ... If that had happened to me I would of bled to death as I have a blood clot at the back of my knee and if provoked it could un lodge itself and if it gets pierced I bled to death, or any deep cut as I am taking a blood thinner that there is no antidote to. She was lucky she got found to talk about it today.

Life is precious. Violence is for self defence, hunting non threatening sentient animals with man made weapons is somewhat sadistic. Unnaturally breeding animals keeping them in cruelty just to kill to eat takes gluttony to new heights, shepherd - organic free range food is best. Overpopulation has created extreme cruelty, Europe feeds remains of animals to livestock. Life on land & at sea have suffered far too much because of arrogant human beings, planet earth would be much better off without humans, but would die without trees & essential balanced ecological circumstances. Eat righteously - cause as little suffering as possible, humans do not have to kill to live.

Life is suffering. We can respect nature and still keep our human nature. I, for one, believe that shooting a deer is a much more peaceful way to go than say... being mauled and eaten alive by a bear.
