Hawaiiguy Kailua I think you are confusing the fact that he cared to save people over an island. Nothing about him suggests narcissism. He sure is stubborn but tbh almost every character was stubborn even John Locke. They just held different beliefs and ideologies and both of them stood by their ideas untill very end except Locke died and Jack eventually changed and if you actually have watched the tv series and did watch S6 & understood it even 1% you would realise that, Jack is probably the only character on the show who had some sort of charater development and actually CHANGED. And it was him who eventually ended up saving the whole island, literally sacrificing himself. And these descisions were consciously made. Hurley staying on the island as a protector was just incidental while Sawyer, Kate just left the island. I don't really know why exactly is Jack expected to care about the island when literally no other charater except Locke cared about it either. People have no problem with Sawyer being self-centred but Jack needs to care about the island for some reason?? Someone who literally risked his life for saving xyz charaters multiple times is a narcissist. People just hate him because he isn't sarcastic or funny enough and doesn't use nicknames. Atleast he felt guilty for Juliet's death even when he wasn't really responsible instead of saying she was a "sacrifice the island demanded." Atleast he never created unnecessary drama and wasted time just to snatch a kiss from Kate even when he knew someone would have died of asthma. I hope you realise atleast his choices was always his own. John locke is a tragic charater who probably got the idea right but was always manipulated. First by his father, then by MIB. The whole "you need to bring everyone back and die yourself" was never his own, but it was something that Richard told him, and it was MiB that told Richard to say it to Locke. In retrospect Jack unknowingly made the most right decisions because they all lead to progression of their lives as they were supposed to be because "what happened, happened" and was supposed to be that way because past events had already happened.

Jack is their savior. Remember the cave collapse where he was buried alive. And the first thing he asked about was charlie. Remember the first episode when he tried to save everybody else before he took care of himself. Jack is a hero at heart and will always be my favorite character. What it their to not love about him. The ultimate leader. He found his way in season five, finally realizing he did not need Kate anymore. He accepted his destiny to save everyone while fighting inner demons from from his dad. What a winding road to navigate romantic and dealing with the Island's mysteries. Greatest protagonist in TV film history. Got to give props to all the cast. 25 one hour show in one year. Amazing feat.

I'm 19 years old and watching Lost for the first time in my life. I've never liked tv series that much therefore i couldn't watch most of them start to finish. But Lost is different, it's been 3 months since i started but i still watch it which is new to me. I have always thought Fix You was the perfect song for Jack (and Jate) and you did it justice with this vid!! You chose so many perfect scenes and voiceovers for the theme, really so many defining moments for Jack--with Christian, Sarah, and the survivors. I think Kate should be included a little more since she was so integral to Jack's journey, but I am also a little biased. :-) Great clip choice and edits, you really captured so much of what makes Jack such an incredible character. Oh, LOST… you were SO GOOD the first 3 seasons… you just fell apart afterwards, to this day I don’t even know what happened… nor do I care. Greed at it worse. Should have been a planned 4-5seasons. Instead, they tried milking it for 6+ seasons, tarnishing the incredible work they did early on.

It seems you have no idea how network television works. Lost was a hit and from the network’s perspective, “why would you end a hit show that people watched?” The truth is, ABC wanted to renew Lost for at least a total of 10 seasons, the producers had to negotiate and fight to bring it down to six seasons. As I recall, it was the first time in television history that a show negotiated its own end. The standard practice was to keep renewing until the audience stopped watching (even today there are shows like NCIS with 20+ seasons).

Years after the show I still hate Jack Shepard of all the insufferable narcissists ever created for television.. That nobody ever called him out for being one was the most baffling thing about the show. Personally I would have tied him up and drug him into the jungle to be eaten by the smoke monster by day three.
