Hello, just going to correct information here as someone who is in this community and has done and spoken to a lot of people who have found and researched this stuff. The duck animatronic’s name is not Dr Dux it is officially called DrQuack and is only known to have been installed at the Simi Valley Pizza Time Theatre in 1980 according to local newspapers. He was an early cabaret act that was targeted towards kids, unlike how Dollie Dimples and Artie Antlers were targeted towards adults, Dr Quack played nursery rhymes. Another fact is according to someone who worked at PTT Corp, Dr Quack was based off Mike Hatcher the original programmer and entertainment director for the early days of PTT. According to coworkers, Mike Hatchers nickname was “DrDux” and there’s a diagnostics tape labeled DrDux Diagnostics which is a reference to Mike not Dr Quack since the diagnostics is for The King animatronic.

Hopefully we'll be able to recover what exactly happened to a lot of the lost animatronics in this video, for some reason Chuck E. Cheese's lost media is just so interesting

So glad to see someone talk about CEC. I’m a super fan, so I would like to clarify some things 1. Zapp is 100 percent a retrofit. Even the photos you showed show that he is a retrofit of the standard cyberamic bot 2 The person I’ve talking about may be lying, so take this with a grain of salt. I’ve spoken with someone who (supposedly) knows the guy who owns Zapp. It’s said he got it from a going out of business auction. This is a common thing for CeC animatronics to do 3. The awesome adventure machine was from my local CeC. Unfortunately it’s been confirmed that the bot was destroyed 4. This is also unconfirmed, but apparently the community were the ones to name the animatronics in the Hot Fudge Show 5. CEC has a history of destroying old stuff, so it’s most likely a lot of these animatronics were destroyed I’ve been in the CEC fandom for years at this point, so if anyone’s got any questions, I’d love to answer. Animatronics are my passion. I would also love to share more info about some other lost Showbiz and CEC media. I know of some more media you missed out on

I wouldn't consider Zapp a "retrofit". He was simply created for a different purpose. CEC had a lot of rotating characters that used the same mech, but we don't call them retrofits since they were still from CEC, so I feel like the same applies to Zapp.

i saw somewhere that its policy to dismantle and destory animatronics before discarding of them. so the wolfman zapp animatronic attached to the truck is probably the only one still in existence, assuming wolfman zapp's bar and grill had the same policy (edit: take this with a grain of salt, my source for this is pinterest, because i like collecting older pics of the animatronics from showbiz and cec)
@papachillothezappey40509 ай бұрын
CEC's trash all Animatronics policy didn't become a thing until around 2004-the mid 2000's. So there are a lot of CECPTT animatronics and RAE/CU 3 stage animatronics that might still exist and are unaccounted for.
@The-64th-Gamer9 ай бұрын
Destroying animatronics has always been a hit or miss policy up until only the most recent years. Most animatronics from the Pizza Time Theatre era were instead auctioned off with the rest of the arcade machines and kitchen equipment, which is why so many are still in circulation.

This has made my day and I didn’t know that CEC had a lot of lost media. Speaking of lost media, there was one rare 2004 ad that I haven’t seen on TV before. It features Chuck E., who takes something out of one kid’s ear and then, he reveals his hand to show five tokens. During the end, he goes “Chuck’s the name. Five free tokens’s my game.”. All I know is that I found the rough drafted version of the commercial on KZbin back in 2017. Hope to see the finalized version soon, which will be found online.

It's not really a mystery how random people get things like old animatronics. They are a burden, not a blessing, & before they are thrown in the dump people will ask around if any friends or family want them. Even if they are ordered to destroy the product, its often easier just to give to someone who will keep it in their garage. Taking them out of the garbage is also common.
@NumeroLetter8 ай бұрын
While that was the case in the '80s, that's not the case today, not with CEC animatronics. It's exceedingly rare to get your hands on CEC animatronics directly from the store. If they're obtained, they're usually in a horrifying state of disrepair that involves sinking a lot of time and resources into restoring them.

Hi LSuperSonicQ, this was an amazing video! As someone who grew up with Chuck E Cheese in the early 2000s, I love learning about the lost media. Honestly, I prefer the PTT era snarky Jersey accent Chuck over the other incarnations, even the one I grew up with [Avenger], as he reminds me of Oscar The Grouch. I adore advertising lost media, but there's a few certain kinds of lost commercials that I'm interested in. First is the 1970s Jack In The Box animated commercials, with the 70s incarnation of Jack Box as well as the other JITB characters being voiced by Paul Winchell, voice of Tigger. There's only three on KZbin, which I'm glad we at least have those, but I hope more will show up one day. Second is the Domino's Pizza Donny Domino ads, while we have a few in a compilation [Donny The Domino Commercial Compilation], we don't have all of them, as there's a poster with a giant Donny about to crush a Pizza Hut van. I'm 99.9% sure Will Vinton worked on the Donny Domino ads, as Donny shares design traits with his other characters, especially the California Raisins and the M&Ms. Vinton also did The Noid ads, so I'm very sure he was behind the Donny ads. I hope more Donny Domino and 70s Jack In The Box ads will resurface someday.

Hearing about "lost restaurants" makes me wonder if there are many instances of that, particularly regarding CEC or related places. I know of a place I went to as a kid that is essentially one of them, as the only related images I can find of it, is a a far away top down outside view photo from an old newspaper. It was actually a former Chuck E Cheese location that was turned into a different restaurant. I remember it had animatronics, which I believe were reskinned into different characters. Unfortunately I cannot remember what they actually looked like. It might have had custom showtapes, but were likely destroyed when the place closed. There aren't any photos or videos of the interior online that I can find, which is odd because I remember the place was really popular, I even went there as part of an honors field trip (but stayed away from the showroom, as it was late elementary/early middle school and I was terrified that if I went near it, people would think I was childish, a decision that I honestly deeply regret as it was the last time I ever went there. If I went in, and the animatronics were still there, I would have at least be able to say now what they looked like, which is a mystery that bothers me due to my memories being fairly clear *except* for that.) I still remember the general layout of the place. I remember there was an absolutely massive skytube that spanned across the entire show room that went above the entrance. There was a restaurant area and an arcade area, both were separate from the show room. I remember what side of the room the entrance of the arcade was on, I remember spending a lot of time playing ms pac-man in the arcade, I remember how the arcade machines were generally set up. It might have also been the first time I ever saw DDR. The only video I've seen was filmed way later after it had long been shut down and only shows the exterior. I've seen posts of people talking about the place in a nostalgic way, but I still haven't found anyone talking about the animatronics aside from the fact that they were there. Which at least is better than many years ago, where I was worried that my memories of the place were just made up of different things, but it was nice to at least have confirmation that it was infact very real.

I remember when I played mugen I found a stage that was just a real photo of a bunch of police pulled up at a Chuck e cheese at night.

I hear a lot of lost media stories start with someone who remembers something from their childhood. I distinctly remember a commercial with Chuck E. playing basketball with the PBS girl and boy mascots. I’ve seen similar commercials but none with them playing basketball

During the Awesome Adventure Machine segment: Why does this sound so familiar? I don't live anywhere near Texas. "Studio C contained many concepts from Awesome Adventure Machine" THAT EXPLAINS IT! Studio C was definitely the show that played at the Chuck-E-Cheese I was constantly going to as a kid. Also, I swear I remember seeing some sort of portrait animatronics at a Chuck-E-Cheese at some point, which would've had to have been in the late '90's to early 2000's.

Fantastic to see, all throughput the fnaf height I was confused why nobody why also adopting real old animatronics as a special interest for the most part. One small note, when you talked about the late Uncle from showbiz, you showed a picture of Duke, a dog who really played drums instead of Rolfe who was a wolf with a hand puppet named Earl who had his own side stage. I was too young to ever see Earl locally, but our mid 90s Chuck E Cheese still had the three stage set up with all the streamers and I could never figure out what all the extra space was for lol

One of my favorites videos from you! As a kid, I was really into Chuck E. Cheese and the lost media behind it. I was really into this forum called the Retro Pizza Zone that had a lot of interesting information on not only Chuck E. Cheese and Showbiz Pizza, but other family entertainment centers. I stopped getting into the fandom when I got older, but also FNAF was really big and you had a lot of their fans leak into the community in a not so positive way. I think it’s because a lot of them were way younger, but it also heavily played into the narrative the animatronics were scary. On top off all that, Chuck E. Cheese restaurants were going hard on phasing out their animatronics around the same time, so I think it was a low in the fandom personally. But if I have to give FNAF some credit, it did bring in some new fans into the world of animatronics which allowed those few to have an appreciation for them :)

Glad to see coverage on the vast amounts of lost media this company has to offer! Us over at Cheese-E-Pedia are trying our best to uncover things and it would be great to get the general lost media community's help.

Some of the animatronics were repurposed and sold to WONDERLAND PIER in Ocean City NJ in the mid 90's.

The owner of Smitty's Super Service Station was absolutely awful to me and my mother. It would have been such a great experience but he wouldn't even give us an estimated price because he relies on donations but anything I offered he said was too low and would talk to me like I was stupid. I specified that I was only a teenager and didn't know how these things worked or what I was in for, as they had no information on their website nor did they have a phone number, and he was so short with me. I still want to try and go, but my mom refuses to give them our business. He also refused me a tour and I was nothing but polite while he was rude and avoided my questions:(
