Mad props to Matthew for putting his nerves out front, and using that anxiety as a message of encouragement to other novice DMs. Just more evidence that he is a person of quality.

Being a DM is rougher than a burlap shirt at first go. To step out on the world stage and do it online, that has to be nerve racking. So yes, more power to him, and this is for a good cause.

Oh I had this recently. I've never done a campaign by webcam and I've never in my life DM'd for a group of complete strangers. I started a Ravenloft campaign a couple months ago using web meetings with a group I threw together on D&D Beyond. It's getting better but I'm still a nervous wreck before each session. I'm not sure about streaming on top of it. I think I'd have to be drinking heavily lol.

The research didn't bother me ...being the boss an adapting to every player reactions..,let alone trying voices .. absolutely cringe everytime I had to. FYI I am a better player than DM

From the start with Matthew feeling nervous and second guessing himself, to the end where he's so descriptively and excitedly describing the scenes? You love to see it, the beauty of D&D, always a join to see him play as a player or DM!

I forget which video she says it in, maybe in one of the other Lost Oddysey videos or one of the promo videos for Relics and Rarities, but Deborah had been playing that postal worker character for years. When she's asked to play in a game and doesn't have time to make a new character, that's her go-to. And what a fun character she is!

D&D has been keeping me sane this year. Thanks for growing my understanding of what is possible via this game, so much easier to learn when seeing people that are good at something and truly love it.

Sweet merciful crap! What an all star cast. I love these celebrity shows. Been a fan of Matt's since Serial Mom and Hackers, Kate is a legend and was born to do this, Deborah is an inspiration and absolutely glows with pure joy when she's on either side of the dm screen, what's not to love about Jasmine? She has so much range and natural talent for performance and story telling. A crazy talented and beautiful cast with someone I've wanted to see in the dm chair since discovering Matt is a fan of the game.

This was a really awesome stream, I loved it. Matthew is such a great and enthusiastic DM and I love his way of giving the players flexibility throughout the one-shot in regards to their actions and backstories. Everyone in this did amazingly, it was really fun to listen to.

Phenomenal job, Matt! To everyone, this was SO much fun and a breath of fresh air. One of my favourite D&D lives! Always love seeing Deborah and Kate, and seeing Ember Moon / Athena (Kareena) was SUCH a joy! I would love more of this campaign with these players. Just happy to see Matt DM!

Super-subjective timestamps: (spoilers: most of this is praising the way the one-shot is structured because I've been creating those lately and I'm still having trouble squeezing the whole story into one session) 2:50 Love the costumes, especially Kate's makeup. And... Is it me or do the runes on Ember's forehead spell RUN backwards? 12:40 I love this method of intensive background building at the beginning of a one-shot. Matt Lillard prepared it perfectly, leaving out spots in his prolog that are pretty easy to fill even if you're struck with nerves or not that good at improv. I'm gonna try this in my next one-shot. 18:55 Deborah's doing a new voice! And it's a great voice! 24:52 Expert moth sounds. 26:43 What a great idea to delegate a minor NPC to a trusted player! It causes no world-building issues because it's just a one-shot and it's even more fun for the players. 28:03 Also a great DM idea - planting a letter from your mother that can be read at any point during the game, taking shape just then to provide a reminder of home, extra inspiration, or perhaps some secret details about their fathers. I hope it comes into play! 35:07 This is a great idea, too - using a snippet of combat to introduce characters and give them a taste of action that won't take up an hour of gameplay. 41:22 Yaaas Jasmine. And kudos for that audio enhancement. 44:20 A shared dice-rolling animatic is THE way to go. I hope that more online games start using it. 1:38:06 "...But from the neck up: pure nobility." Kate is cracking me up! 2:08:02 I love that Matt's letting them come up with DMing ideas (such as monster lore) even during combat. 3:15:20 I think Matt makes all the right choices here in trying to resolve this conflict and invite the players to conclude the session with him.

If you enjoyed Jasmine "ThatBronzeGirl" Bhullar, please check out her as a DM for Silver and Steel on D&D Beyond, or her as a player in The Sunfall Cycle on Jesse Cox's channel. If you want to know more about her, check out her interview on ONE on ONE with B. Dave Walters. That's on the Queue Times channel. B. Dave also spoke to Matthew Lillard and Ember Moon. If he has a season two, all of the rest of this cast would be must see interviews for me.

I've been a big fan of Matthew's ever since i was a little kid and I saw SLC Punk. Was my favorite movie for a looong time. I would love to meet him in person some day. I've never played D&D since nobody I know plays (that has told me anyway) but it would be cool to play with him to say the least. Such a nice, humble, down to earth guy. Dude has great energy.
