Lost Planet was an interesting experiment but Lost Planet 2's lack of success sealed the fate of the series for good. Nice video, pretty much articulates how I felt about the game and its place in the nascent "next-gen".

Cheers! Yeah LP2 definitely wrecked the series' potential. LP3 was essentially the Dead Space 3 'last ditch effort' to keep the franchise alive.

I absolutely adore LP2, it was so unique and nothing else has come out quite like it.

Dino Crisis is the fallen hero of Capcom for sure, but I can always go in for some DMC :) Cheers bud!

I remember this being a graphics benchmark- it was literally one of the first titles to support DX10 I think and at that time it was quite impressive to people…

Man, I remember this game. I played it quite a lot back in the day, and I played even more of Lost Planet 2. I even unlocked the Wesker skin in Lost Planet 2. Still have my save file and everything on my 360. Fun times.

Man the mid 2000's in gaming was a trip. Just - yeah, I don't know - this ambitious, exciting next gen hype mired by some of the most baffling gameplay and direction decisions ever. Especially from Capcom - Resident Evil 5 really stands out as just a bizarre mix of "what the fuck", "WHAT THE FUCK?" and "meh". As for Lost Planet, it's strange seeing how over the top and arcade-y this series started out. My only experience is the third one, which is a far more open, narrative driven, slower paced game. Which I really enjoyed, and think is criminally underrated, but boy, is it a completely different beat compared to this. Also, just wanted to say that your editing, delivery and pacing in the last few videos have been a real step up on an already fantastic production. I love all the tiny visual gags, the moments where you line certain background moments up to the music, and the little pauses you add before your 'sick burns'.

Cheers K! I'm really looking forward to jumping into LP3 sometime down the road, it's easily the title I've experienced the least of out of the trilogy. I spent some time in LP2 and it just felt a bit lifeless and dull after the OG, but this was like 10 years ago haha Thank you! I must admit editing this one took a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnng time, so I'm glad it shows :)

"The various available mech suits... slam dunk (aliens) with little to no resistance." That's why the Mobile Infantry in RAHeinlein's Starship Troopers use them. Much higher survival rates in the book. Good review!

I've never played this game but I do remember having it on one of my 'to play' lists, many years ago, but it got lost and was never re-added... and now I don't know if I should be happy or sad about that. Because I love a bad game, sometimes, especially if it's a shooter. However... the cutscenes look nail-grindingly bad I have to say and I'm not sure I could stand them. XD This was a great review though, I love your little 'bit' with the friggin blackberry! I mean, what?? What?? I'm sorry, WHAT?! ........anyway while she freaks out over there: excellent job as per usual Ghostie

Thanks so much Henitto! I figured if anyone would comment on the blackberry joke it would be you haha I have no idea why :) I think it’s worth playing (especially if you buy it on sale), it’s not baaaaaaad bad but damn does it get tiresome after a while haha!

the first thing that strikes me is that it's so colorful for a game of this era. big star wars vibes too in the color palette. its a shame it didnt work out.

Somehow I was under the impression the first Lost Planet didn't get a PC release, I'm not sure what made me think that. Maybe I got mixed up with Dead Rising?
@BadGhosts3 жыл бұрын
Lost Planet was ported to PC a year or so after the OG X360 release, so possibly Dead Rising, yeah - I don't think the PC version was a thing for DR until the 2016 re-release came around.

Lost Planet was one of the best games from the bad years of Japanese game development. I loved it on 360 but most of friends skipped it for Gears, just like you mentioned in your video, lol. I hope the PC version gets more people into the series.

Thanks for watching! I'm hoping the PC versions of 2 and 3 also run ok, going to look into those at some point.

Capcom should do what Nintendo is doing and revisit some of their other neglected franchises. Imagine: Dino Crisis, Onimusha, Lost Planet, and Bionic Commando done in the RE engine. Tired of them milking RE and Monster Hunter.

Always liked this one.. but 2 was the best. At least for me. the open coop mech missions were great, they need another game like it, i was playing it on steam until they killed windows live.
