(23 Aug 2021) LOST UNDERWEAR, FORGOTTEN LINES, AUDIENCE INTERRUPTIONS: 'ANYTHING GOES' STARS DETAIL ON-STAGE DISASTERS
The stars of "Anything Goes," currently enjoying a smash hit revival in London, say that they have had their share of on-stage disasters.
Two-time Tony award-winning Broadway star Sutton Foster, who is making her West End debut in the classic Cole Porter musical, has suffered numerous stage mishaps throughout her career, including a very embarrasing one while performing in "Thoroughly Modern Millie."
"I hit my final pose and my little bloomers... they went swish, swish, swish and they were around my ankles," laughed Foster in a recent interview at the Barbican Theatre in London. "So I stepped out of them, put them under my armpit and continued with the scene."
"But what I think's really great is, like, I've cracked, I've forgotten lines, I've lost my underwear... I've been sick - all of these horrible things, all these things that you're terrified of doing and I'm still here," she added.
Her co-star, Robert Lindsay, who plays Moonface Martin in the musical, had his own problems when starring in William Shakespeare's "Richard III."
"I did 'Richard III' at the Savoy with the RSC and I was speaking - 'Now is the winter of our discontent' and I heard someone saying the lines and I thought, 'That's very odd.' And I kept on, 'Made glorious summer,' 'made glorious summer.' And I thought, 'What's going on?' And I look down and there's a guy sitting on the front row with his feet on the stage with a can of lager in his hand," said the 71-year-old Tony, Olivier and BAFTA award-winner.
"He carried on repeating it and getting louder. So I leaned out - Richard III... Said, 'Excuse me, if you know the words better than me, why don't you get up and say them?' And he looked at me straight in the eye and said, 'I'm not as good an actor as you, Mr. Lindsay.' And all the cast are in the wings going, 'Is Richard III talking to a member of the audience?' It was just really weird," he laughed.
"That's crazy to me!" said Foster.
"Anything Goes" runs through Sunday 17 October 2021 at London's Barbican Theatre.

If someone has this clip in better quality, I would appreciate if you share the link, it seems that this channel only stores the videos in 360p
