TGI Friday's has the funniest origin story of just about any business. Back in the mid-1960's a young man named Alan Stillman was having a terrible time meeting women. He went to singles' bars, a new concept at the time, but still had no luck. So then he decided to borrow money from relatives and open his own singles' bar. It was a huge hit and soon expanded into a big chain.
