Investigators hunt for the truth behind one of Greece’s greatest myths - the giant one-eyed Cyclops.
The ancient Greeks believed in a terrifying monster, the Cyclops. This huge giant was a man-eater, with a single eye and incredible strength. Investigators are uncovering what may have inspired belief in this extraordinary beast. Palaeontologists dig up the bones of large prehistoric animals - did some of these skeletons look like the remains of enormous humans to our ancestors? Why did the Greeks believe that the Cyclopes built citadels and forged powerful weapons for the gods? How large did the Greeks think this giant actually was and why was the dreaded Cyclops always a loser?
For thousands of years, civilisations believed in mythical beasts - Dragons, Cyclops, Giants, Vampires and Sea Monsters. They still fascinate us today, but where did the stories of these fabled creatures come from? When she done the calculations about how big one would have to be to move the stone, she said 66 foot tall, the size of a seven story building. The next image in my head was all the mountains, hills, different scenery from all over the world that look like people, frozen in time, covered in grass, or wooded with green canopies. 😮

Cyclops were some of the first giants created from the primeval of antiquity. They now help guard the gates of hell with their brother a giant with 50 eyes, and a hundred arms. They helped Zeus over throw the old gods thus taking over the leadership of the world.
