Who the hell decided it would be a good idea to give these to SEARS?? At the time period of GX, we still had toys r us. Or Geoffrey’s. It would’ve made more sense to put it in a Walgreens than sears.

Probably an exclusive deal on Sears' part. Just weird because as a kid I didn't really think of it as a toy store, so I'm not surprised a lot of people missed it entirely.

@@TeamAPS sears was also already international and had stores in U.S, Canada and other countries. Toys r us had (and I believe still have) an exclusive deal with Lego and Star Wars. Sears had an exclusive agreement with Konami. And to this day imo is the best place to get cards if there is one in your area as many of them near me have closed.

Sears was big back when yugioh first started to air lots of familys would go to it. They were closer to a walmart or Target today. Its sad that it had a serious downfall and fell from grace I remember always stopping in when me and my family will do our weekend mall trip I bought many video games from them before I found gamestop.

I have two of the Thunder Giant cards sitting around somewhere, sadly it seems like they’re the most common/least desirable of these Mattel cards from what I can find. They’re still super pretty though, so I can certainly still appreciate them.

The first two runs aren't too difficult to find. The third run is when they stopped including cards after having already printed and packed a few. I have the Cyber End Dragon, and, while super cool, he's not difficult to find at a reasonable price.

And the reason they stopped including the cards was to probs stop people from damaging the product to steal the card and avoid getting the figure. Stealing cardboard is much easier than stealing a whole-ass action figure after all. Probs the same reason why the more recent action figures and the cheaper duel disk from a couple of years ago don’t include actual cards and just have little cardboard ones that have monster or character art on one side and the Yugioh logo on the other
