They will change the name of a straight road once it has gone so far that is miles and miles long and/or when lot numbers become incredibly high. There is a reason why there are 1st street north and 1st street south is that it is easier for people to find out where they need to go when they don't have a map. I am a delivery driver and when you have a street that is miles long in a city then it is extremely hard to know where exactly 40234 1st street is compared to 2623 1st street south.

It gets even worse when you realise that they're numbered based on the order they were built. So if 3 is torn down and a new building is built in its place, all the other numbers above it go down by one, and the new building gets the highest number.

Ok, the thing about a street that dead ends and then picks up a few blocks down, there was a street like that near where I grew up. It had several sections where the road just wasn't built for a few blocks. And the mad lads named it *Hiatus Rd!*

There is an intersection in a town I used to drive thru a lot that had 6 different streets converge into 2 streets. I don’t remember the names but let’s say it’s 1st street thru 6th street. The two main streets were 2nd & 5th but depending on which way you turned from 2nd or 5th you could for about half a block be on 1st, 3rd, or 6th street as they all merged into the two main streets then unmerged back into their own street. So you could be on 2nd street, then on 1st street, then 5th street, and then a short jump between 6th street back to 2nd street. It was ridiculous. Especially because there was only 1 stop light, 2 stop signs, and a yield between the 6 of them xD

Fully unrelated but crazy idea Podcast discussions but in Machinima format, using the RvB characters How? Perhaps as cadets prior to being grabbed form the army by Freelancer. Example, Geoff is Griff, Burnie is Church, and Gus is Simons, all wearing Mk V armor in Halo reach, Sage (green) primary and their respective RvB color as secondary Gaving wearing an ODST helmet in reference to that cameo he had in Reconstruction

I used to live on a street called Langana ave here in Auckland. It's split in half by a forest and a lake. If you want to go from 26 Langana ave to 27 Langana ave you have to go back the way you came and take a 20 minute detour across browns bay just to get there!

What they left out is odd and even streets are one way streets going in opposite directions, but Lake Austin Blvd is a two way street.

It's simple. They are both correct. Gus is correct in how the streets connect, Burnie is correct in how stupid it sounds.

Gus should have started with "1st Street doesn't turn into Lake Austin Boulevard. Lake Austin Boulevard turns into 1st Street" Instead of going with "6th Street becomes Lake Austin Boulevard"

@@wrshprksmyfceoof I looked up a map and I can't find where 1st street is. I see where 6th street becomes Lake Austin but in the other direction, Lake Austin becomes 5th. Did first become Cesar Chavez street since this podcast? Also I totally understand Gavin here. 7th street has one block off somewhere and then starts in a whole other location somewhere else!

@@AMageOldAsDirt Yeah. I understand Gavin’s frustration there too. There are a couple of streets in my city where they stop completely because of a neighborhood block, but continue on the other side with a different compass word on the street name.
