Saiki's voice.. it's got a full, at times breathy sound(almost wanna say 'smoky'). in one sweep she can go from bright clarity up high to a deep husky quality down low. she's got great control.. doesn't overdo it on the vibrato. the way she holds and closes out that final line at 4:35.. i LOVE that sound. in more recent live performances she's been adding some grit to her vocals which sounds amazing.. and again, not overusing it at all. my 2 cents. also interesting to hear, is the sound of her voice on the first release, Maid In Japan. it's still her, but somehow completely different. kzbin.info/www/bejne/l4DMqZ1ujapre9k acoustic performance.. if you want to hear a showcase of her vocals, this is it

Misa's bass playing is superb in this song. The interplay between her, Akane and Kanami is wonderful in my view. Not leaving out Saiki and Miku on vocals which all add up to a live performance that I don't think many bands would be able to match.

I think SAgillzQs kind of nailed what is so special about Saiki's voice. I know that I see a huge amount of growth from say "Thrill" to how she sings here and now. She obviously worked real hard over the years to become a better singer, especially better fit for Band-Maid songs. And she has become an outstanding performer on stage. She holds more than her own amongst her talented mates. I also think the band has been able to write to her strengths much more in the last couple of years or so. One thing is for sure, no one else I know sounds like her and her voice is immediately identifiable. I know that Miku's voice really compliments Saiki's and creates a really cool singing sound when they sing together and going back and forth. But anyone with a good ear knows that Saiki is the better over all singer. If you want to really hear what she can do, check out the live acoustic versions of "Puzzle" and "Anemone" She destroys! and Kanami has a pleasing voice as well. kzbin.info/www/bejne/l4DMqZ1ujapre9k

Rock and Roll is alive and well in the hands of 5 beautiful Japanese ladies. Saiki vocal training started when she was 15, meaning that she has excellent vocal control and range. So she can be in low range and then to a high range; with the ability to control her volume without straining her voice. All of them of course have had a professional music training and it shows in their performances. How many bands have you saw or listened to where you can't hear half the band due poor or weak playing. With band=Maid you heard all of them very much in tune with one another. Enjoy the LA concert, I can't make it, unfortunately.

I went to a B-M concert a couple of weeks ago and I can assure you that Saiki's voice is even better live. I can't really figure out what exactly it is but 100% agree with you that her voice is kinda unique and I love it. But to prove the band also sounds nice without Saiki, give ''Band Maid - Rock in me '' a shot. WARNING: You may gonna suffer a heart attack by Miku's cuteness. :D

I've been waiting. Check out the videos from this year from London, Paris and Hamburg. They're audience pieces but I think they really show more of the "true" Band-Maid. They really do some different stuff on stage and they really appear to be having major fun. There's on of Kanami in Hamburg going OFF on a solo. She's hopping around like a crazy woman. Very entertaining.

Saiki doesn't sound like a chipmunk like so many J-rock J-metal singers and she doesn't have the over the top church lady vibrato of a certain other popularly worshipped J-metal singer. I wont mention names because people get all butt hurt. She has a wonderfully melodious voice. One of a kind

@David-yt6kp

Sai-chan doesn't have the typical female Japanese voice. Instead of the higher range, she's in the baritone range. Add to that, her voice is well trained and she sings with emotion. She makes you feel what she's singing. You can thank Miku for knowing great talent when she saw it. Thanks for doing my suggestion. (Correction: Contralto NOT Baritone)
@rickwagner-
@rickwagner- 5 жыл бұрын
@David Probably better described as "contralto". That's the lowest vocal range of the female voice types. I've suggested BAND-MAID songs in the past, but none of the "Vocal Coach Reacts" channels has had a reaction to a BAND-MAID song that I've seen so far.
@David-yt6kp
@David-yt6kp 5 жыл бұрын
@@rickwagner- I don't know if she's quite down in the contralto range. It would be nice to hear what a vocal coach thinks. I wouldn't mind being wrong on this one. If you ever get one to do it, I'd love a heads up.
@rickwagner-
@rickwagner- 5 жыл бұрын
@David Baritone would be much lower though. It's below tenor, which is below alto or contralto. At any rate, I'll start suggesting BAND-MAID again. What song do you think is best? She's very forward in the mix in this one, so it seems like it might be a decent choice. You really hear the timbre of her voice.

Yes, they can be found online. Just looked on eBay and it is evident the resellers have been busy buying up tickets, inflating prices for the average fan. Her vocals have Mu. It's a Japanese thing. You can look it up if you like, but it translates to Tension Over Time. You can find an explanation in a video by the Kodo Drummers who play the big Taiko Drums. There's a Steely Dan thing, similar though not exactly related, called the Mu Major Chord. There's a good explanation in this video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rISndWuonLqchMU

Hopefully you have your LA tickets? Since they are sold out.... Something to note on the vocals. Most of their songs are 90-95% Saiki with the rest being Miku (and occasionally Kanami) undertones and harmony's. You hear Saiki loud and clear but Miku adds something, I dunno, like a smoothing?... something like that. Not saying Saiki sounds rough, but it is a more "complete" sound. Especially in this song, it makes the vocal fuller even though you can't really hear Miku as much as you normally might....

Miku's voice is slightly higher, but is almost a "softer" version of Saiki's voice. Because it's so similar to Saiki's it's great for providing natural harmony and background that would sometimes have to be added in post-production by a studio tech. I didn't know Miku was the one singing on "Rock in Me" until I saw the video.
