When Kansas was in the recording session for this album, it was the night before their last day to close it out and I don't know if Kerry had this melody come to him or the lyric, the dude was VERY prolific as a writer of both lyric and melody. But it came to him so he wrote the lyrics down that night along with the basic melody for this. He came in almost bashful about it saying he had an idea for one more song. This is the last day of the session. They worked this out that same day. The musicianship of this is amazing, vocals outstanding, guitar, drums and keyboard work all works of art. You listen to any element of this song, any piece of it and it's excellent. They recorded it that evening and that was a wrap. This song made them, and it happened in the last day of the session for this album, from Kerry's thoughts the night before.

When Dust In The Wind came out it fit into multiple categories and was played on multiple stations and played and played and played some more. DITW is a very good song and I know that people love it. Wow you guys got to this song so much faster than I expected, and at the beginning of the video when you mentioned how you were waiting for a classic rock banger to hit you I thought "just wait until the end of this song" haha. Great video, I'm glad you guys seem to love this song as much as I do. This was the main song I wanted you guys to get to for classic rock week but I've seen some other people mention "Chicago - 25 Or 6 To 4" and "Deep Purple - Burn" so I just wanted to say those songs would be great for classic rock week as well. And of course I'm going to leave my main suggestion for when you guys do metal again. "Cult Of Luna - Nightwalkers" is probably going to be instant playlist material for you guys.

As a Supernatural fan I really get emotional hearing this song. The show is on the last season and normally is played as the opener for the season finale. Which means, the next time I'm going to hear it in the show is going to be the final episode. Yeah, it's great song, although I think the changes in tempo occur a bit too frequently but that's criticism on a very high level. It's a near-perfect song. And Steve Walsh's clean and clear vocals are just incredible. You hear him sing Carry On My Wayward son without any instrument and the song immediately comes alive in your head. It's catchy, it's funky, it grooves, it's emotional, it give you everything you'd want in a classic rock song.
