I aged out in 2002, back around the Cavies heyday. This book brings back so many memories. I love the "old school" writing and their command is on point. I love everything about this book. Nice work.

Tbh this was the first time I heard the Cavaliers this year, and first thing I thought was "hm, this book is different. really tasty and CLEAN". THEN I heard they were first place. Then I read the comments. I highly disagree that this is a high school book. I think its really well written and stands out from the others in terms of musicality, confidence and exposure. Feels great full of obviously very capable players lol. I think they deserve 1st, for having the balls to play this type of writing in a heavily saturated (in many ways) summer of DCI. Each corps does different things, and I still love Boston. But Cavies book is vibing this year and feels old school at the same time.

This book is basically an early 2000's greatest hits for them. This is how the writing was during that era...push it out and then clean clean clean. I love it.

As a friend of mine who marched at both Pulse and Cavs said... "Cavs books are the hardest books I've ever played. Pulse sounds really hard, but is really simple. Cavs sounds really simple, but is really hard."

@@GingerKing243 Feels like there are harder books this year. Boston in particular. However, the beauty of what these guys are doing this year is that whatever they're putting out it's just so clean. They're really mastering the book.

@@trentbildstein5610i feel like other books are harder rhythmically (more notes) but i feel like cavs is up there for musicality in this book, san antonio judge described it as a “charcuterie board” with different technicality

@wingedpenguin1364 definitely agree. But i actually loved that it was simpler lol haha. It stood out, in an all out way. Sometimes, simpler means more - ik that's cliche, but I found their book as "full of intention." And when they want to, they are clearly capable of playing advanced writing. What book is best for the Corp, and can they shine in their moments. Clearly cavies did that

When you really put it into perspective, would it be the worst idea to use here and there? Techs play on the drum all the time for a multitude of reasons. Wanna match the center? Have the center play on your drum with you in subs every once in a while. Could be a viable tool in rehearsal if not over used

@@brianmalexander for sure man, but I've got a flow acct haha. I've heard folks who've seen it live agree. I think the cavies front is fantastic but even with them, this is just not worth first to me. Just can't see it.

@@brianmalexanderif they can’t get a clean attack for 8s in the lot, they surely can’t play clean on the move. I don’t understand the scoring. It may never make sense again without a judge on field.

@@mondaysinthecosmos you know, it IS weird. cavs are clean, but they aren't as clean as BAC. Nor is their book as hard. I like cavs' book, and i think they're playing it well, and i think it's a better world when the cavaliers are competitive, in general. but between BAC and them, it really isn't that close. add in the fact that cavs went on so much earlier, and the reasoning for their placement only gets less clear. i mean, who knows, but i think there ought to be a front ensemble judge and a battery judge that is allowed on the field. ok, done ranting!
