*Harad: The Southern Realms of Middle-earth* Harad, known as the Southern Realms of Middle-earth, is a vast and mysterious land that lies to the south of Gondor and Mordor. This region, steeped in history and rich with cultural diversity, plays a significant role in the broader context of Middle-earth, particularly during the War of the Ring. The lands of Harad are divided into two main areas: Near Harad, which lies closer to Gondor and the lands of the Free Peoples, and Far Harad, which stretches into the deep south, an area largely unexplored and filled with mystery. The geography of Harad is as diverse as it is expansive. The northern regions of Near Harad are characterized by arid deserts and harsh climates, where the sun beats down relentlessly on the land. The deserts give way to savannas and lush jungles as one moves further south into Far Harad. The rivers that flow through Harad are vital lifelines, supporting the inhabitants and their way of life in an otherwise unforgiving environment. The coasts of Harad are dotted with ancient port cities, where maritime trade has flourished for centuries, and the influence of foreign cultures is evident in the architecture and customs of the people. The inhabitants of Harad are known as the Haradrim, a proud and diverse people with a rich cultural heritage. The Haradrim are renowned for their skills in warfare, particularly their mastery of mounted combat and the use of the fearsome Mumakil, also known as Oliphaunts, which are massive, elephant-like creatures that tower over the battlefield. These beasts are a symbol of the power and might of Harad, and their use in battle strikes fear into the hearts of their enemies. The Haradrim are divided into various tribes and factions, each with its own customs, languages, and loyalties. While some tribes live a nomadic lifestyle, others have established large, fortified cities that serve as centers of trade and power. Harad's history is one of conflict and alliance, particularly in relation to the neighboring kingdoms of Gondor and Mordor. For much of its history, Harad has been a land of constant warfare, with tribal conflicts and power struggles shaping the region's political landscape. However, Harad has also been a key player in the larger conflicts of Middle-earth, often allying itself with the forces of darkness. During the Second Age, Harad fell under the influence of Sauron, who sought to extend his dominion over the lands to the south. The Haradrim, with their fierce warriors and powerful Mumakil, became valuable allies to Sauron in his war against the Free Peoples of Middle-earth. In the Third Age, Harad's involvement in the War of the Ring was significant. The Haradrim, driven by a combination of fear, ambition, and promises of power, marched north to aid Sauron in his quest to conquer Middle-earth. Their forces played a crucial role in the battles fought in Gondor, particularly during the Siege of Minas Tirith. The sight of the Mumakil charging across the Pelennor Fields is one of the most iconic moments in the history of Middle-earth, symbolizing the might and ferocity of Harad's warriors. Despite their strength, the Haradrim were ultimately defeated, and the forces of Sauron were scattered with the fall of Mordor. The tactical importance of Harad cannot be understated. Its proximity to Gondor made it a constant threat to the southern borders of the kingdom, and its alliance with Mordor posed a significant danger to the Free Peoples. The Haradrim's control of the southern seas also allowed them to disrupt trade and communication between Gondor and its allies. Furthermore, the presence of the Mumakil gave the Haradrim a distinct advantage in open-field battles, where their sheer size and power could overwhelm even the most disciplined of armies. The history of Harad is also marked by its interactions with other cultures and civilizations. The trade routes that pass through Harad connect it to distant lands, bringing with them new ideas, goods, and technologies. The influence of these foreign cultures can be seen in the art, architecture, and religion of the Haradrim, who have adopted and adapted many aspects of their neighbors' cultures. This cultural exchange has made Harad a land of great diversity, where different languages, religions, and customs coexist and thrive. Despite its long history of conflict, Harad is also a land of great beauty and wonder. The jungles of Far Harad are home to exotic wildlife and ancient ruins, remnants of civilizations long forgotten. The rivers that flow through the region provide life to the lush landscapes, where vibrant flora and fauna flourish. The coastal cities of Harad, with their bustling markets and grand palaces, are a testament to the wealth and power that the region has accumulated over the centuries. In the aftermath of the War of the Ring, the fate of Harad remains uncertain. With the fall of Sauron, the Haradrim are left to rebuild their shattered lands and forge a new path forward. The power struggles that have defined Harad's history are likely to continue, as different tribes and factions vie for control of the region. However, there is also the possibility of peace and reconciliation, as the Haradrim seek to establish new relationships with the Free Peoples of Middle-earth. The legacy of Harad, with its rich cultural heritage and formidable warriors, will continue to shape the history of Middle-earth for generations to come. In conclusion, Harad is a land of contrasts, where the harshness of the desert meets the lushness of the jungle, and where the pride and ferocity of its people are matched by their cultural richness and diversity. Its role in the history of Middle-earth, particularly during the War of the Ring, has left an indelible mark on the region and its inhabitants. As Middle-earth moves into a new age, the future of Harad remains an open question, but its past will always be remembered as a time of great power, beauty, and conflict.

The game is locked at 30 FPS, so strictly speaking I play at 30 FPS. I use a technique called optical flow frame generation to bring the final product up to 60 FPS in post production.
