little Maleficent War for the Planet of the Apes wasn’t CGI dirt. If anything, it is regarded as one of the best CGI characters in cinema. So was Avatar, say what you want about the generic plot, but the effects were breathtaking. But hey, you probably think I’m just a Michael Bay fanboy because of that and all you I’m saying is “blah blah blah” in your head.

The reason why these movies have aged so well is because they used a variety of movie-making techniques including: Forced perspective (old-school) Body doubles Set miniatures Actual touchable sets that were built from the ground up and that the actors could interact with or imagine themselves in And.. cutting-edge CGI after an intensive design process. Notice CGI is *one* of the tools in their toolbox, not the go-to. I fear The Hobbit series of films won't age as well.
