Lots Of Changes Coming To Disney's EPCOT | D23 Talk, Ellen's Energy Adventure & New Minnie Vans

In today's vlog we head to Walt Disney World's EPCOT, where we discuss some big changes coming to the park that were announced at D23, a Disney Expo. We're excited for all of the changes, such as Guardians of the Galaxy replacing Ellen's Energy Adventure, a new Mission Space restaurant, new Circle Vision 360 film coming to the China pavilion, and the Ratatouille ride coming to the France pavilion. First we take a ride on Ellen's Energy Adventure, then we talk about the changes that are coming to the area behind Spaceship Earth. Then we watch the Circle Vision 360 Reflections of China film in the China Pavilion. Lastly we check out the France pavilion to try to see where the new Ratatouille ride will go. Along the way, we found that some of the Food and Wine pavilions were starting to pop up, which is exciting! As we were leaving to head back to the car we stopped off at Disney's Yacht Club to try to see the new Minnie Vans! They were out and we used one to get back to the car. It was an awesome time at EPCOT and we can't wait to see how everything looks when its all complete! It's definitely an exciting time for Disney fans! Well done Tim and Jen your update videos for Disneyworld have been terrific, love watching all your videos. First time I went to Disneyworld was 1979 and only Magic Kingdom to see, went back in 1980's to see EPCOT and then a little later to see MGM Studios, loved them all, had a really magical time at them all. Have been back on many occasions but doubt we will be back again, love Florida just don't have the finances to match these days, so your videos keep my Disney fix, thanks so much. Mike

I feel like Disney is getting so big that one day they will build their own airport so planes can fly guest right to the theme park.

That was part of Walt Disney's original EPCOT plan. The Magic Kingdom would be at the north end of the property, the airport at the south end, with a monorail line going through the futuristic city in the middle.

There was a runway at WDW when it first opened. So yeah they did try that at one time...

Disney World already has its direct shuttle buses from the airport to your hotel. If you book a vacation through Disney, everything is planned for you starting with Disney getting your luggage at the airport and later returning you and the luggage to the airport. No rental car required or encouraged by Disney! On property, Disney will shuttle you to any of the Disney resorts, theme parks, restaurants, shopping, golf, sports, etc. Disney cable tv in resorts constantly present the Disney attractions. Disney wristbands for you and your family allow entry and charges made simple. Disney wants to keep you on Disney property every minute of your vacation. And by the end of your vacation, that big white gloved Mickey hand will have reached in to your wallet and credit card more than you ever expected.

Though the Disney's Magical Express buses from the airport are actually run by Mears, they certainly do their best to make you think you're in the hands of the Mouse the moment you arrive at the airport bus stop. You scan your MagicBand as if you're getting on a ride at the park.

Just a little tidbit that may mean nothing to anyone but me... lol. That van that's parked by the Minnie Van at 21:07 is a Canteen Services van. They service vending machines. How do I know this? Well, it's because I've seen them EVERYWHERE around town where I live (in PA) in the last two weeks, and I was thinking about how I kept seeing them. And, hilariously, one shows up again, in one of your vlogs! Their vans are very recognizable... they have green apples screened on the back windows. Ok, that's the last unimportant fact I'll mention for today. I'll see myself out now...

I know I'm probably one of the only people kinda upset that Universe Of Energy is closing but I LOVE that ride, It's so nice to just take a break and be entertained at the same time! I'm just hoping they make the Guardians of the galaxy a roller coaster and not just some boring frozen type ride, cause THAT would be cool!

I was just there at Disney World Epcot, with my parents on Wednesday of this week. We saw that like mission space ride is under construction, and we didn't know about the Ellen ride going away. But yeah I'm glad we went this week. When things were still running and not all shut down with construction. Disney is awesome.

It's good to see Epcot being given a decent makeover and upgrade - we've not been for ten years now but thought it was out of date and behind the times even back then - how they've managed to eek out a decent patronage for this long is a mystery to me but good to see the changes on the horizon - it's a great park and deserves the investment.

Hey, Tim! When you enter the Reflections of China building, if you stand in the very center of the circular room you'll be able to hear your echo. That room is acoustically perfect. Your voice will echo perfectly back to you. Sounds cool, though not sure that it would pick up on video.

I'm a Phd Candidate in Biological Oceanography with a MSc and BSc and consider Bill Nye to be a scientist. He only has a BSc in Mechanical Engineering, but every engineer is a physicist as well utilizing thermodynamics and kinematics. Let alone a director of the Planetary Society with patents to his name including the development of equipment on the Mars Rover. ;)

We were at EPCOT a few days ago, walked over to the Yacht and Beach, and got in one of the Minnie Vans the first day they were running. I read online they would take you anywhere on Disney property for $20. The driver said it is mainly for transportation from hotel to hotel and that for the time being, the ride is free. We weaseled our way into a free ride to our car parked at the transportation center - right to our car!

Man...I'm not sure I realized just how much is going on construction wise all at once until you highlighted it all. It really seems like Disney has too much on their plate right now. The sky liner seems like such a fantasy idea, and I didn't think they'd be able to work out the logistics of it but I suppose that is the magic of Disney. We shall see. Hey Tim if you look at the concept art that was released, those buildings down the 'spine' of EPCOT aren't just getting refurbished, they're being removed altogether to open up that space and be filled with greenery and less confusing pathways

I think the Minnie vans are a great idea for those times when you need to get around DP to somewhere that does not necessarily have other transportation. I also love the idea of going to dinner reservations where you would be a little more dressed up not haveing to worry about getting on and off a bus. Or even if you wtake the bus to disney springs and then realized you bought way too much! lol We usually drive in from Louisiana, so I don't see us using it much--but it could be great for those who fly in and don't want to rent a vehicle.

I really think Disney drops the ball in regards to accommodating wheelchair users, which is incredibly disheartening. I really, really hope they improve that in the years to come. Everyone should be able to enjoy it equally.

We tried to do it in 2012 during our family trip. We watched most of the pre-show before heading to the ride vehicles and then the screen went blank and the ride vehicles stopped. It seemed that the stoppage was going to last for a while and fortunately we had not yet boarded the vehicles so we left. We never did go back to finish it. Hopefully I'll get back to Epcot after the new attraction opens to experience it.

We just finished a trip while D23 was going on, so as the announcements came in, we would see what all would be closing. Its crazy to think of all of the construction thats going to be going on all at once. Thankfully so we can see all of it, we plan to go again for the 50th anniversary, or if we can afford, get annual passes since we only live a 7 hour drive away.

I've never been to WDW, but I grew up in DL. I know the story of Westcot and feel like California Adventure was a test to see how a cultural park like Epcot would do at the DLR. Seems to me that California Adventure is in the process of being re-branded at the DLR because Epcot hasn't shown too much attendance outside of major festivals or focus on the E-ticket rides. Anyway, I'm glad I stumbled across your channel, Tim! I've learned more about WDW than any documentary has ever shown.

I don't want the memory stones at Epcot to go away. My brother in law has his picture on one with my sister when they were little. He passed away in 2015 while in the Navy, and when I go to Epcot I visit the picture and it makes me feel like he's there with me.

Rumors suggest that Wonders of Life is safe and that the restaurant is going towards the back of the space between Mission: Space and Test Track with some airlock kind of connection between the restaurant and mission space.

I'm always sad to see the old rides go, there's just something special about going on a ride that's been there every time you've gone, but agree there needs to be updates. I'm just worried that epcot will not feel the same. I like the world showcase, laidback vibes, and everything that is future world.
