Hey my name is Carl, or Dozer the farmer.
Thanks for watching or coming to my content just message me on KZbin and I’ll try my best to answer. I am here to show you the day to day running of a Kiwi (New Zealand) farm.
We milk 260 cows at peak and run 2 beef blocks that support the farm with silage and letting the young calves graze up at the run offs both owned by dad. Grandad runs one and Dad live on the other.
I started KZbin on the 4th of April with the idea to show everyone what life and day to day running of a farm in NZ is like with the hope that people get a better understanding of where milk comes from and one of the families that love doing it.

i'm the same with my girls i have 16 pet cows 😂makes it a pain to get them inshed especially since i gotta push my backing gate around in between rows.

Hey mate. Yea I had stopped due to a few things happening in the background. I have missed making the videos and replying to comments. So I made the decision that if it becomes to much for me with work, social life and KZbin. Tessa has agreed to take over editing the videos. Which is a great help. So I’ll be editing for now. Till I’ve had enough then Tessa will take over. So you could see a change of style when it becomes a bit much for me. But she’s capable.

When you are breeding them, do you breed like to like or do you cross between breeds? They seem to be all colours. Great videos Thanks

Hey mate. Yep when we breed we are going for the kiwi crosses. Which are jersey fresian crosses. With our soil type we do prefer the smaller jersey side. But we have seen the crosses produce more milks solids overall compared with other breeds. For our system. The herd back in the early 2000s were a pedigree Ayrshire herd. But years of breeding is slowly breeding them out. When dad came here as a worker in 2001 the production for 220 cows was 40,000ms, in 2023 it was 120,000ms for 260 cows. Massive improvements in breeds, grasses and meal.
