Each and every time the team was in difficult position Kohli has flopped in last 4-5 years. Indian cricket has a culture of retaining senior players way past their expiration date based on fan following. But some questions remain for me: 1- The mood all over the media when India started the day at 128 for 5 was all too gloomy. Even Sunil Gavaskar - who I thought was eternally an optimist admitted that "though I'm an optimist, in this case I don’t see them coming back from behind". The same was the mood with the Indian commentators Harsha Bhogle & Ravi Shastri. As ardent followers of Indian cricket, we have seen many instances of Indian tail wagging & making a match out of hopeless situations. Here was Rishab Pant - a freak who can turn the match on its head, and Nitish Kumar Reddy - who has captured the imagination of Australian spectators, at the crease. So the big question is WHY should an entire group even stop believing! As Indians, can we not stop taking one day at a time and put up a fight every single day? 2-There was no condemnation of that unwanted hook by Ravichandran Ashwin. Ashwin is a classy player, and we saw him get behind the line of the ball and defend beautifully in the first innings and the second. He is usually not hurried by pace. Now, when Nitish was playing well at the other end, why should such a senior pro choose to play a hook shot to a ball that was down the leg side, well over his head and one that could have been left alone easily. Hooking and pulling has never been his forte. Was he trying to prove that he can play all shots that Jadeja and Washington Sundar can play? The previous instance of Ashwin playing a silly shot was vs. New Zealand in the 3rd Test - where he played a reverse sweep with only 25 more runs required to win. While Ashwin is indeed more than a decent batsman, his mode of dismissals in the second innings in his last two Tests make me wonder if he is batting to prove a point! Only Ashwin should answer this.

If BCCI has spine, it should allow Rohit to return to India immediately so he can spend all the time he needs with his family until the next limited overs match where he can open. He is neither a Test batsman and not the least a captain. As a captain he brings no intent, has no understanding of the nuances of the game, and embarrasses the nation often with his chaiwala English as he did at the prestigious Aussie Parliament. Nothing but negative vibes and a total inability to inspire as a leader. Further, his game is not suited for red ball cricket, and that is why he got so few chances at Test level but somehow he became Test captain which was a huge mistake. All the pundits knew he was NEVER going to make it as a batter, let alone captain, at the Test level. He let the game slip away when the dangerous Head was new to the crease and Bumrah was bowling sensationally. He foolishly replaced Bumrah with a completely useless Rana and allowed Head to get settled in and take the game away in a whirlwind fashion. As the commentators said, that was a terrible mistake as the onus should have been to get Head out ASAP as he is the biggest threat with the bat in the Aus team. Bumrah had just bowled 4 overs and looked very menacing, and he had got Head early in Perth which was why we won there. Bumrah is tactically nuanced and an inspirational leader. He should captain the Test side. Rohit should be sent packing out of Aus and Bumrah should be made captain. #6 spot should be given to the guy who is averaging 65 in test yet just carrying drinks at the moment. That is ridiculous. Also they should send Shami to Aus ASAP as Rana has proved to be ineffective and gifted runs freely. For the Brisbane test, I would love to see the following Indian XI: KL YJ GIll Kohli Pant Sarfraz NKR Ash/Jaddu (prefer Jaddu since he is a far better bat) Shami Bumrah Siraj

Siraj needs to pay attention to his game instead of showing unnecessary attitude and uncivilized behaviour. That catch of travis head when he was around 70 wasn't that tough as it looked. He had to run back but distance he needed to cover wasn't much and he had got enough time he could have easily got to the ball in time, but he misjudged it. And even if it would have been a difficult catch to take, at professional level these are the chances that need to be taken. In 2023 wc final travis head took rohit's catch and the momentum of the game shifted completely. In the next over as well, rishabh pant also dropped a very easy chance it was a regulation catch, but he missed it. From there on travis head added 70 more runs and took the lead very far. If those chances got converted, lead would hqve been around 40-50 runs and batsmen wouldn't have felt the pressure of trailing 150 runs.

Am I the only one who feels that Virat was way more accountable as a batsman, especially when he was an all-format captain with full support of BCCI? He wasn't getting 100s, but whenever he came to bat, he gave a fight despite scoring 40s, 50s. Since the odi world cup (barring that 76 in WC final and 76 in SA), he is not looking much interested. I don't know if this is a coincidence, but Kohli is not performing as well under Rohit's captaincy, akin to how he did under other "temporary" captains.

Rohit must open. KL at 1-down. Virat at 3-down and not 2-down. Virat Kohli needs to flex and he dows better in advwrse conditions than when up front. Zero strategy, zero plans against Travis Head who always plays well against India and bats in the same aggressive fashion, bowled Bumrah very scarcely, bowled Harshit heavily when it wasn’t his day, didn’t ball Reddy even after he took Labuschagne’s wicket, introduced Siraj just before taking new ball for one over and suddenly changed it to Reddy after Siraj actually took Carey’s wicket, abysmal field placement with Heads catch going through 1st slip , had SIRAJ at long on for Ashwin when Head was clearly targeting him playing lofted shots, didn’t attack Carrey when he was new to the crease, gave him easy singles. I mean if I as a fan can recognise these faults and the captain doesn’t , GOD help us in the rest of the tests ! Clearly, Rohit seems to be mentally absent in Australia! Even in his batting , he seemed disinterested , the body language is of a person who has given up ! In Hindi, the words I actually want to use to describe him and his captaincy : susth kaptaan hamara, jagao isko koi yaar !
