As you said, everyone has a different view on how they would want to spend the money. Enjoying luxury should not be taboo or anything to feel guilty about, but management of that is certainly important. We all have different backgrounds which influence how we would want to spend the money. Some grew up without travelling, so might want to spend a large portion of their money doing that. If you didn’t come from money whatsoever, then you would certainly splurge on expensive cars or the like. The only problem is when that spending gets excessive. But these stories are definitely both inspiring and cautionary!
