It varies by state. Like I live in Texas and we cannot be anonymous if you win. Basically their goal in announcing it is to prove that real people are winning the money and it isn't some rigged systems. However Texas is awesome because we don't have a state income tax so you only need to pay the federal gov tax when you win.
