Thank you from a Lotus enthusiast in dear old Blighty. Been a Lotus fan since the 70’s - even had some shares in them once. Good luck and thank you again not just for rescuing a beautiful car but also taking the time to share it.

Wow, I'm loving this. My uncle had an Esprit S2 with the JPS black and gold livery. As a young child I though it was the most beautiful sports car that I had ever seen (it was also the only sports car I had ever seen). Till today Lotus is still number one with. Glad to see you resurrect this S4.

Amazing video Tim. I came upon your channel looking for Lotus Esprit taillight conversion videos. Saw it was a multi part video series and had to tune in. As a car guy and serious Lotus guy from the beginning of my youth (thanks to my dad, who's a life long mechanic, who in his mid 80s is still fixing antique cars) I asked my dad to take me to the local Lotus dealer (Rothrock's in Allentown) to see an Esprit. I still remember going there in 1989 (I was 13) and was in awe of the red Esprit at the dealership. Lotus has always been a dream car to me that is totally obtainable (let's be honest, the other exotics are not) and I always wanted an Esprit X180 series. Today, as I type this, I'm striving for an Evora 400 but I always always come back to an Esprit. It would be so cool to find one that is in good shape. Time will tell which way I go. And I subscribed for more Lotus content. Great job on the channel. 👍👍

Love this video. I have a black S4. The comment about getting in touch with the car when the body comes off--although I've ever had the body off my car, I totaly got it. The chassis design is pure Lotus and a thing of beauty. You can see Lotus DNA in the chassis. Very nice video!! Thanks for this one!

I applaud you, Tim. Keeping these out of the scrap yard will ultimately fall to those of us that have a passion for the Lotus brand, and the Esprit specifically. I know it will be incredible when you complete it. I should've looked you up when I was up in Columbus a couple weeks ago with my V8. Would've loved to have seen the bones of this one in person. Best of Luck, sir!

I nearly bought an S4S years back and was tempted with a Sport 350 before they shot up in price, but I know nearly every nut and bolt on my car now, and I can't let it go. A Lotus salesman here stopped me buying an Exige off him and part'exing the old S4. He was spot on :)

Christopher Jackett the Esprit is truly a special car and one for which there is no direct replacement. I Have spent some time in Countachs, they are close, but much more expensive to run AND to buy. The Esprit is a hidden gem and one we are lucky enough to have got “in on” before the run up in prices . Cheers!

I have a 1988 1/2 (had some S4 body parts from 89) that was converted to a full S4 with the intercooler. The engine was completely rebuiil and converted to electronic injection. It last dyno'd at over 400hp. With limited parts availability and the Citroen transaxle issues not being able to hold much power, I'd like to do an engine swap to a Honda K24 with a sequential racing transmission that can handle 1000+ HP. Any chance you'd like another Lotus project? :)
@TimsEnthusiastGarage3 жыл бұрын
Interestingly I spoke with a pal about a K24 swap but I think I’m too much of a purist for such a swap. This project is proving a bit overwhelming at the moment so I am probably set for a while on the project front. Thanks for watching!

As an owner of an S3 who has considered pulling the body off (for a variety of reasons), what do you think the time investment would be to get to the point of separation (I have a two post available)?
@TimsEnthusiastGarage3 жыл бұрын
I guess it depends on what needs done. It is a a pretty invasive procedure and a lot of the older connections can be issues. So. I guess long story short it is a bit of opening a can of worms.

So the 93-04 already has an enraged footwell. You are pretty much agains the wheel well so going wider would mean serious modification and reduction of wheel well capacity
