Please get the Emira to US position holders / customers. The delays and price increases are really undermining trust and confidence in the brand.

@@DDd-hr6mz give them time. They may be owned by Geely, but it seems like Geely is allowing them to operate independently of them (apparently so long as they switch to 100% EVs, either that or that was always Lotus’s plan; idk), which would suggest that the car is being built on a unique manufacturing plant. That unique plant is the plant in Hethel, which I assume isn’t good enough to keep up with such high volume orders as the ones the Emira has got

@@B4R0N.they still need to go racing in some capacity. Racing, especially Formula racing, is in Lotus’s blood. Even if they can’t enter F1 (which btw is being brought down in cost, and Lotus has the financial backing of Geely, so it might not be as expensive as you think), they should at least enter Formula E

Need to fix following issues immediately, mostly through software update and calibration; 1. Loss of control during launching...a lot of oversteer. Yes the ESC is off but it shouldn't be completely switched off and allowed to intervene to keep the car in a straight line. 2. Poor range....only 50% to 70% of claimed WLTP range is achieved. Averaging just over 2 miles per 1 kwh. 3. No USB A or C ports in the rear passenger area. 4. Enable full stop with one pedal driving in the highest setting.

Haven't seen any new Emira promotion video for ages... Is there any specific reason for it? Is selling Emira no priority? Or is Geely only interested in selling "made in China" vehicles?

What other choice do they have? It’s survive or die. Besides, there can be fun EVs. The og Tesla Roadster is one such example, as is the Porsche Taycan. Plus, it is possible to make an electric Lotus. The Evija is just that; compared to the rest of its competitors (Rimac Nevera, Pininfarina Battista, Porsche Mission X when that reaches production), it’s abt 2,000 lbs lighter. That to me is the very definition of “simplify, then add lightness.” Also, Lotus has always had aspirations of expanding. Did you ever think for a second that when they said that, it would involve them keeping their spartan interiors with no creature comforts? They had to take that step upmarket. Idk what the hell you wanted the Emira to be, but I’m pretty sure Lotus made it really damn clear that it’ll be replacing the Evora, not the Elise or Exige. Perhaps the Elise and Exige should come back, but the Emira was never meant to be that type of car, so idk what’s got u so disappointed that it isn’t
@Sideways_Singh

@@mrsoisauce9017 im not dissapointed I just wish the emira was a hybrid between the elise and evora. Also none of these garbage electric cars are fun and neither are they sports cars, there transportation devices posing as fun cars. Plus it aint survive or die there lying about how bad the case is to profit off it, electric cars are fine just leave sports cars out of it. If every sports car went electric it would make 0 difference to the planet, they make up like 1% of cars on road and make up less then 0.5% of pollution. So there just tryna make us depressed for no reason they could easily leave sports cars out of it, I want regular passenger cars to be electric because that would help the planet slightly.
@mrsoisauce9017
@mrsoisauce9017 Жыл бұрын
@@Sideways_SinghVs can be fun. Look at the og Tesla Roadster. That thing was actually co-designed by Lotus, and a lot of ppl agree that it’s really fun to drive. Plus, Evija is proof that sports cars and hypercars can also be EVs (it’s also a Lotus, as the Evija is abt 1,000 kg lighter than its competitors). I’d say wait for these cars to be given to ppl to review before we hop to premature conclusions. Besides, the Porsche Taycan exists, and it’s still a quintessential Porsche, as well as the Maserati GT Folgore, which is a quintessential Maserati, so I’d say a car being electric does not remove the brand identity of the car Edit: also, sports cars are a very small segment, but they also pollute a lot worse than most passenger cars, so in all reality, are they really that much better? For comparison, there are FAR less cruise ships in the world than cars on the road, yet removing all the cruise ships from the world will reduce CO2 emissions a lot more than making all cars go electric. I know it’s an extreme example, but the point still stands. If ICEs are to stick around, e-Fuels need to be implemented, and even then, it’s only a matter of time before BEVs become the superior choice in all vehicles, sports car or not. Plus, Lotus’s ethos is also about *simplifying* the car (the mantra goes *” simplify,* then add lightness), and BEVs are perhaps the simplest form of propulsion you can get. ICEs are far more complicated by comparison. The weight problem can be solved with advances in battery technology (including new battery compounds and architectures, allowing for a lighter battery and more efficient placement of the battery in the car for better weight distribution) Edit 2: I speak as a person currently studying engineering in high school, having done engineering and robotics, power tech and honors engineering and robotics, and have signed up for independent study engineering and robotics and power tech 2 in senior year. I also plan to study electrical and mechanical engineering in college. Not to say I don’t understand why u guys are upset. I personally am going to miss the sound of a naturally aspirated Lamborghini V12 when it’s gone, and I’m going to miss other ICEs as well. I completely understand. But I’m also environmentalist, and while I believe ICEs shouldn’t be banned outright, I believe that a switch to BEVs is still a good thing and the right thing to do, even in sports cars and even if it makes cars a bit less exciting (though they’ll still be exciting, just less so)

@@mrsoisauce9017 u have no clue what ur talking about, an electric car will never be fun to me as long as theres no manual trans which toyota has created so thats halfway there, nt he sound of a combustion engine which toyota is also working on. Plus ur whole cruise ship thing doesnt work in this scenario, sports cars make up less then 1% of cars on road and there taking out only on weekends and summer, they aint that much worst on gas they pollute the same amount as a normal car, they plloute less then majority of these heavy car on road nowadays, sports cars weigh less and have lightweight effiecient engines, they make up less then 1% of pollution in the world go check the facts.

Hi, a "driver" here! I'm having fun with my Tesla Model 3 Performance, but I'm getting an Emira. Not for the engine (that's a downgrade), but for the handling. And I trust that future EV sports cars by Lotus will manage to deliver the same all-round fun. As for the SUV: I get it - Geely is trying to position Lotus as a sporty upmarket alternative to Volvo/Polestar, and the market for track toys is relatively small, so the brand is expanding its bouquet.

@@mrsoisauce9017 I have the opportunity to drive the taycan almost daily. Great cars but they weigh almost 5k lbs, and are not enjoyable at the limits. Electric cars have a long way to go. Lotus can easily meet emissions still using toyota powerplants. Keep the electrics in the daily cars like SUV's, keep it out of sports cars where experience matters.

@@madarauchiha1218 I don’t think you’ve driven the Tesla Roadster yet, which in all fairness, neither have I, but many enthusiasts agree that it’s actually a really fun car, even as an EV. It was actually co-developed by Lotus, and you could describe it as the all-electric, more refined version of the Lotus Elise. It’s proof that EVs can be sports cars, but only of done right. Lotus already did it once with the Tesla Roadster. I trust them to do it again with their new fleet of EVs. They, Porsche and Maserati are 3 of the only manufacturers I trust in the EV revolution. U are right abt one thing tho: EVs still need time in the oven before they’re as good as their ICE counterparts. I do think that ICEs should be kept in cars for 10-20 years longer before EVs fully take over, but I’m not going to fight against the EV revolution either, especially when it has the potential to meet or even exceed ICEs. It ain’t there yet, but it’ll get there, and there is no one I trust more to advance the technology than Lotus. They just need to ditch the LiDAR sensor in the Eletre; it’s a good feature, but not on a Lotus

Honestly, tell me this. What people who considers themselves "drivers" as in: loves to drive fast, go around corners quickly, gets shivers hearing an engine roar, go to track days and so on, wants to buy an electric SUV? None, so stop saying "for the drivers" while it's clearly for ordinary people who like to travel in comfort. Thank you and have a great day.
@mrsoisauce9017

Clearly then you’ve never seen the reviews for the Lotus Emira. That thing, according to many, is a better sports car than a Porsche Cayman. I’d expect the Eletre to have that same driver feedback, and to be sporty and fun as well. It takes a good step in the right direction as well, since it has a 2 speed transmission, something usually only reserved for the fun EVs like the Porsche Taycan, yet this Lotus has it Edit: my point with the Emira is: it’s more than just a send off of an era. And it’s a similar story with the Evija: it’s more than just a flagship hypercar or a vision of the future. Both the Emira and the Evija are mission statements. A statement that even in the electric era, Lotus will always strive to make lightweight (as lightweight as possible, given the constraints of EVs), fun-to-drive sports cars that are uncompromising in their pursuit of speed, performance and driver engagement. I honestly hope they bring the Elise and Exige back to prove it (even if they’re EVs), as well as the Lotus Esprit (to compete with the Maserati GT and Porsche 911 as the lighter, more hardcore version of those cars). Oh, and whatever the Emira’s successor is, it needs to continue to compete with the 718, and again, it needs to be more hardcore (the current Emira and previous Evora already were, but still)
