Hey guys, I'm been waiting for this video to drop. I mentioned in a previous video that my gf is from Taiwan and I'll be travelling there for the 1st time during Chinese New Year in 2024. This is her home town, and where I'll be spending most my time. Loved the video and can't wait to visit. How did you find your experience in Kaohsiung?
@TalesFromOurPocket Жыл бұрын
We *loved* Kaohsiung. It was our favorite larger city in Taiwan and we could have spent more time there. We have more videos coming on this city! I think you'll really like it.

You spent a whole afternoon for Lotus Pond around, just like I did before. What a great experience. But keep an eye on the spicy hot sunshine of southern Taiwan, be careful not getting sunburn.

it's really nice to see "older" people doing vlogs -- nothing against the young people who do them, but it's nice to see people who are there for the sights and history and experience and not just the cool Instagram photo. You guys are still WAY younger than I am, but I really appreciate your viewpoint. I am 62 and am going to Taiwan in November -- can't wait!!!

Each temple has different gods, Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and even ghosts of the underworld. So there are many different architectural styles and special background stories.

Sweet potato ball(地瓜球)also known as QQ ball(QQ球) "Q" in Taiwanese is a way to describe the food is chewy,but is not exactly saying something is "chewy"chewy , Q is softer than chewy (just like noodles are Q but not chewy) Anyway, how to make sweet potato balls? 1. Mash sweet potatoes 2. Add sugar and tapioca powder to make a dough 3. Divide the dough and roll the dough into small balls 4. Deep-fry! And it is a dessert

@@TalesFromOurPocketit’s made of 3 ingredients: sweet potato, tapioca starch, and sugar Tapioca starch is what makes it chewy, same as the tapioca you eat when drinking the bubble tea. The dough is like a small cube, you deep fry it, when the outside/shell is formed, you push it, so the air is squeezed inside, the ball starts to inflate! Repeating this several times, you’ll get the sweet potato balls with crunchy outside, chewy inside, and empty in the middle :) If you’re still in Taiwán i suggest you to try more times!

The Kaohsiung Dragon and Tiger Pagodas will undergo extensive renovations for a period of one year. During this time, the site will be closed to visitors. If you plan to travel before October 2024, please consider excluding this destination from your itinerary.
