I agree. The 1L B is def your baby. The M cup would probably be a really good sound if you ever have some lead pop commercial stuff to do.

Thanks for sharing this, Kris. Excellent demonstration; you chose helpful examples and you sound great! Suggest that viewers listen with high-quality earbuds or speakers in order to hear the overtones/core sound/articulations more accurately. Differences can be lost on mobile device speakers as they are also somewhat subtle depending on register.

Hey there, nice vid. I ended up settling for the 1M2 Lotus in Nickel because it played a lot closer to my Bach 1.5B megatone mouthpiece. You should give the Gold plated Nickel Lotus a try, it is oddly comfortable. I would even put it in the same category as my Monette B4S.

Yeah man, the 1LB is great for you. It seem like you sound more sure, and on top of your targets with the 1LB. The others are fantastic as well. The 2XL is not for lead work in your case, but has a great sound in the mid and low register.

We like the idea of using mouthpieces as "the right tool for the job" and is why we don't change rim contour from model to model. You want all creamy rich chocolate for the ballad track or are in a tiny club setting = 2XL. You need to add some zip on a horn section track or are doing a bunch of Kenton rep in the big band = 1M. Everything else = 1LB. Rapa is a mouthpiece switcher not because he needs more high register access, it's about how easy it is to cover the range he needs (but more importantly) the color of the sound.

Im personally a lead jazz trumpet ao the 2m is my main piece. The 2l for me is a good orchestral or ballad one

What is the length of these mouth pieces .. my Lotus 7M2 I just got is 3 1/4 inches but all my other brands are 3 1/2 inches .. 1/4 inches shorter shaft ..

Our mouthpieces are shorter than most because our throats and backbore dimensions are the proper length. It's similar to Monette Prana in that respect.

I liked your sound throughout the video. Although the 1LB is your baby, I thought more depth came from your use of the 2XL and the 1M. It may seem silly, but for your own test, conduct a blind test and see if you have a better feeling for either mouthpiece or an order of preference. Also, review this video and check your facial expressions. Which one looks like you are working hard, and which one looks like you're simply gliding? Keep up the excellent work you are doing.
