It is true that the first car to get a Lotus twin cam was an Anglia, as a development mule. Lotus actually purchased a left hand drive Anglia estate from the Belgian embassy!

Chevettes with Ford Kent engines were used by a few people as Hotrods on UK small ovals before everyone discovered fitting a Kent lump in a rwd Toyota Starlet was the hot route to take.

Ahhh...The good old Dagenham Dustbin...💜 My mate had one of these + because he wasn't old enough really to drive it (although he did..back in the 70s) he had to leave it parked up in the youth club car park...We used to go + sit in it as it made us feel grown up...lol..They took the keys from him so he couldn't drive it. What they didn't realise was that it could literally be started with anything..!!...pair of scissors, nail file, even a tooth pick on one occasion...😂 Those were the days....😎

Sounds like the twincam needs a dyno set up, carbs well out of balance, hence the "knocking" noise 🚗👌

My second car as an Engineering student working part time was a 105E Anglia (The first was a Spitfire but rust killed it). Found it disappointingly underpowered when I was made aware of a used Twin Cam Lotus motor. Didn't take much to adapt it. From memory a throttle cable was constructed from a speedo cable. Certainly the car I remember best from pre 1970.

Twin cam Anglia sounds awesome. To be fair the lotus block and the 711M 1600 block are identical other than the 1600 is 7/8" taller.

That twink engineered angel box is lovely!! Glad the owner resisted the temptation to put a Louts Green accent colour down the side. Nothing better than the sound track of a pair of DCOE's to get the pulse riased.... :)

Modded Anglia in the late 1960’s, We used front legs from Ford classic capri which provided disc brakes and negative camber. Looked the part, but even with adjustable rear suspension etc I really didn’t like Anglia, always felt like they were flimsy and wouldn’t take much of a shunt. 100mph in an Anglia is really frightening.

They are awesome 😀👍🏽👍🏻 had friends back in the day with these old classic car's, the Anglia my mate put escort front struts out of a van with disk brakes into it and front sway bar's plus a worked 1500 motor, side draft carb , extractor's , and widened rim's, later mag's on it was a cool car plus back then there was heaps of spare parts from old car's around so was cheap to do things with them back then 👍🏽👍🏻🤙🏼

Loving the Anglia 105E Lotus conversion, it looks so right and if you didn’t know better it could have been an option back in the day. I’ve seen a Consul Capri Lotus at some shows and with this and a Cortina it’d be a perfect set!

Why does the lotus anglia sound like its rough as a bears arse with a massive miss fire.. most probably hasn't but doesn't sound nice at all until screaming it.. bodywork is amazing for a old girl.. loving the old skool vauxhall chev. Great looking rally car. But overall great content Marcus 👌

You could drop a 1500 right in, put a 1600 in it later, but it needed a bit more work, ran like a treat

That’s the great thing about crossflows and pre-crossflows. If one fits they all fit so it’s easy to chuck a bigger one in if/when you want to. 👍

Cracking pair of Anglila's......pre crossflow is known as a side valve motor......hence exhaust and inlet are on the same side..👍
