Lidia is a DEMON in Tekken 8!

People complain about her lows but i think the worst part about her is the lack of launch oppurtunities... she has like 3 launchers plus 2 CH that allows for full combo, theres also some stuff that can CH in her stances but most people know not to press if they get hit and if they block they will jab you out of everything... while characters like jin can electric, uppercut from dash, flying uppercut from zenshin, a while standing launcher, hopkick plus a bunch of counter hit launchers... and so far i think my biggest problem with lidia is getting people in the air so i can do damage

There are plenty of characters that follow the set up + launch + full combo = damage formula. Now go back, and when you play her think “less is more”. FF 3 is your friend. As well as D 1+2. Her oki game is INSANE when compared to other characters.

I played a lot of Lidia in T7, the moment she came out I dropped my main for her because I liked her so much, moving over to T8 she lost a lot of tools that made her incredibly strong on her launch in T7, and those tools were nerfed in T7 pretty quickly all things considered. In T8 Lidia does lack on-hit launchers and decent lows, but she does have very good plus frames, constant forced 50/50s that lead to some huge potential damage and the value she gets out of CH ff2 is insane to say the least, off of CH ff2 she gets slightly above average damage and her stocks, which carry over to the next round and make her heat actually terrifying the more stocks she gets. While she does have glaring weaknesses, she doesn't have glaring weaknesses and a lack of tools that are good in multiple situations like a certain someone who has more or less no good plus frames and a -1 on block jab. Tools like Demon Paw, Hatchet Kick, Chainsaw, etc. and the absence of something like that is usually what makes bad characters in T8 bad. I mean look at what they did to Victor, the moment they slapped those buttons with the nerf hammer his winrate/playrate plummeted. Asuka and Raven were who I played before Lidia and both of them suffer from a lack of a something you just throw out there that's relatively safe or entirely safe and leads to crazy damage on hit or CH, Raven has a massive toolbelt, but each tool is so specialized and punishable that you just need to know when and how to use each of them where strong characters tend to have a few buttons that together answer most situations you find yourself in. Lidia doesn't have the sheer amount of versatility as Jin or Drag, but she's not entirely lacking the ability to pressure with things like ff2, b1, 122/124, qc3 and 32. While it'd be nice to have them Lidia doesn't need crazy lows if her whole gameplan is making you guess between safe on block highs that have other utility (wr1 chips for example) and mids that are also safe, but lead to a much bigger payout. I guess my opinion on her is that she's probably average and maybe at best she's slightly above average, but even then I wanna see what happens going forward and if people figure some crazy stuff out or not.

Disconnect rate can be deceiving I think. At like 30:00 you look worried about that guy with 6% but that just means that in the last 50 games, he dropped 3. Which I don't think is that bad and they might not even be intentional. Even the dude before that with 16 isn't really that bad when you look at it as 8/50 in my opinion. Still understandable to avoid them, but I only really expect a d/c out of someone when it's over 20% But I also like matching with higher d/c rates because making someone rage quit feels better than ranking up, so I might have a different perspective on this than most people.

14:25 I don't think it's just her lows that make people think she's weak. A lot of her strong moves can be option selected and she is easily steppable in the neutral. It doesn't help that her D2 is -4 when Jin and Drag have the same move that's like +4 or something. When we see a balance update for her I'm sure the main buffs she'd be getting is better frames on her low pokes. I'd say she's a comfortable mid tier but again hard to say until all the tech has been found and optimized.

Two wall combos I like to use against the wall are: Political storm (F 1+2, 3, 1+2) Or for a little extra wall carry you can do: QCF QCF 2 2, back forward hold 1+2. A blue spark that does a nice little chunk for a combo ender Please keep in mind, I'm Assailant and not the best at the game so there may be better options out there that I don't know

If i want a high slump near wall i opt for f4 3 sometimes. At the wall I like to use b2:3 d1+2 if my heaven and earth is lvl 2 or 3.

I like to poke using df4 and hit confirming the 2 follow up, which guarantees ff3 mid screen or d1+2 at the wall :) QCF4 is also not a bad shout if you don't overuse it, and fishing for a df2 counterhit shows decent success for me as well. B1 is also useful at close range, make sure to use it to keep them on their toes.

As a Lidia main from Tekken 7 I gotta say they removed everything in Tekken 8 that made her Lidia lol. Majority of her counter hits and strings completely removed…… The stance switches are cool but against a decent player they’ll block and jab through it. In my honest opinion as of now after playing hours on Lidia I rate her C to almost B tier. This is very subjective so don’t get mad 😂 btw Lidia is the most played hours on Tekken 7 so you’ll get the jest of things I’m a Lidia main 😃

Nah bro she’s super solid. Against people who were jabbing, power crushing, ducking, rage arting through my pressure, I was still able to win pretty consistently. Her biggest weakness is that you have to play Tekken (footies, ch, observing your opponent, managing your resources and taking every advantage you can get). 98% of the cast can just bs their way to victory without any earned skill.

4:12 Can't stress enough how bad the prowess based matchmaking has screwed me. So I have my main Paul at Raijin but I also have Hworang and Kuma at Fujin, Reina is flame ruler and I got Lidia to Mighty Ruler. all this results in me having 200k prowess despite my highest rank reached being Raijin. Whenever I queue ranked matches there is a 70%+ chance that I'm matched up against people with around 240k prowess. That might not seem like a huge difference but at those higher ranks every step higher you go its like climbing a mountain in terms of the skill increase. Long story short it's not rare for me to fight Tekken Gods and lose because they step/duck and punish every micro mistake I make when I really should be fighting little timmy with his fujin victor most of the time.

Hey lotus her low parry is super good. You get a guaranteed ff1+2 for 62 damage. Also, I typically use b3,4, qcf1+2 for wall travel and then do political storm as a wall ender in combos

Yeah i don't think Lidia is weak. Granted i'm a mega noob to Tekken and i just got to play her really today. I guess some might think she's weak because they haven't found her good punish buttons. as a poopoo purple rank steve player Lydia just feels like steve but more approachable, Steve feels like a 1000cc motorcycle and Lydia feels like 500cc still super sketchy when your new but more manegable to handle. Lydia can play her tekken vs Steve force to play your oppents game, H&E feels like a slightly better LH, don't really like that she's forced into her stances no matter what but I think when people figure out her stuff her stance preassure is gonna be scarier than his. Her mid range is way more aggresive and can keep you in that range really easily and you can get in close real fast with fc 2 and ff2 and then disengage back to the mid range pretty easily

I haven't had much trouble against Lidia so far, but I ran into one on a 26 win streak that absolutely BODIED me yesterday. One thing they were doing differently from other Lidias I've run into was a whole different level of super rapid chains of stance transitions. She can be a monster in the right hands. I think we'll be seeing a lot of examples of that happening from T7 Lidia mains soon.

Those who complain about her play style aren't using her tools, this guy is really good at stance mixups but isn't utilizing her parries, you can use them in the middle of certain combos to catch random jabs, and she relies a lot on getting the other person to strike first

Lidia is actually very weak right now. Her abilities may be the most counterable in the entire roster. I don't think, in any game, I've seen a character be more useless, legitimately the answer to everything is sidestep. She's cute and has nice clothes but that's all. Her kit is boring and her moves do less damage than a Lili jab. (All Lidia fans pls copy pasta this everywhere Tekken discussions happen so our baby can avoid nerfs)
