Nope, gets nowhere near John Cale's rendition. This version is far to pop, whereas Cale's version really captures the horror and desperation being on turkey: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fXuZo4aojrh0mMk

Maybe he did at other shows and didn’t because this was being recorded but love the enthusiasm. He did let Quine and others “rip” later though.

1973 is year of this nyc live concert. broken up into two albums lou reed live and rock n roll animal . one of the greatest rock concerts of all time....... NOT because of reed, but his band : hunter and wagner on lead guitars, prakash jon on bass, ray colcord on keyboars and glan on drums

@@MrMaxtaurus Lou Reed is way better than Zappa, are you kidding? I know it's subjective but I don't find Zappa funny and while he can play guitar very well he's not a game changing guitarist in the rock context.

"don't tell me about tomorrow, its just another time" so profound thinking of time as increments than being aware every minute is closer to your death . get rid of the sense of time and feel timelessness ! get rid of the time on your cell and smartphones , throw out all your clocks, at least in your off-work time.

The rock and roll animal band. Wagner/Hunter, Prakash John, Pennti Glan, Ray Colcord and Lou. Still baffles me today. Why wasn't it remastered by Lou?? It might have brought "Live" up to the sound standard of rock and roll animal. Brilliant playing on "Live" but I miss the clarity and the power of the rock and roll animal album.
@tomasvanecek8626 Жыл бұрын
I have no idea what youre talking about.. I have these two on original vinyls and they sound exactly the same... Dont listen to CDs and other digital crap, get the real stuff and youll be fine ;) Btw, remasters just kill it, for sake of sounding "better"... they never do. Listen to this this music the way it was meant to - how it was mixed, mastered, produced... .

From the legendary concert in NYC, 1973 . Reed didn't play anything, just "sang" yell/talk his sicko lyrics . His band made it one of the greatest rock concerts ever . Dick Wagner and Steve Hunter amazing on guitars, Prakash John great on bass, drummer and keyboardist great too. The concert was released on 2 different albums "Rock n Roll Animal" one half , and "Lou Reed Live" the other half of the concert . actually there's another 45 minutes that weren't released until recently . Alice Cooper hired Wagner, Hunter & Prakash John after hearing the concert. I can't blame them , Reed was a niche act . Alice Cooper was a big time commercial act that paid his musicians really well .

Yawn. Lou's 'sicko lyrics' are what made his songs so compelling. No one would disagree about the band, which is fabulous, but for the most part Lou's songs gave them the framework for their performances - the exception being Steve Hunter's jaw-dropping 'intro' to Sweet Jane.
