@gothiccowboy Жыл бұрын
I have the recording of the whole show at the Academy Of Music, NYC Dec.21,1973 of which the RockNRoll Animal and Lou Live albums were cut from. If you search hard enough you should be able to find it.
@stephenbleach4668 Жыл бұрын
@@gothiccowboy The whole concert is on youtube. Remastered too, and you can tell the difference. I'm wondering why RCA (who still holds the rights if memory serves) has not thought of releasing the complete deal? I'm sure it would sell.

@stephenbleach4668 Жыл бұрын
@@ronaldsmith1484 I heard this one after I posted about it a while back. I'm not sure about the sound differences or if I feel they are better or not, having heard the full concert online once. Either way, it would be up to RCA ( as far as I know) to release this complete show. I'm sure there would be many fans who would purchase this. I know many don't use CDs anymore, but I do, and I know other music fans do; as streaming often has a horrible compression problem. Also, people are into vinyl again so who knows?

@Stephen Bleach the original rock and roll animal is the best version.... it flows better..... original version has Dick Wagner on guitar and another good guitarist I forgot..... that's what makes this album so special..... when Lou Reed toured around the world on this tour he had different bands backing him up thank the gods of Rock that they recorded this show

@@phillipanderson7398 Wow, that’s not cool. Even if he was joking that’s not ok. Lou was a great musician but he treated a lot of people terribly. Do you know which video it’s on? As with White Light / White Heat, this is my favorite era for this song-strong hardcore punk antecedents throughout, even though it always gets (mistakenly) labeled as ‘glam’. Sister Ray is such an over-indulgent track at its core, both lyrically and structurally reflecting essential elements of using speed. Something about the relentlessly manic energy of the guitars and the four-wheel-driving rhythm of the toms marking the drum fills here brings the 1969 classic VU track roaring into a new era.

LR made a huge mistake by letting that iconic band go after the RR animal tour….they brought his songs to another level!….he thought he could do better but he outsmarted himself, as he was never able to recapture that energy, chemistry and success!

Yeah, they weren't the same with Alice Cooper. Hunter and Wagner did Black Widow guitar duels that were great. I wish there was film of Rock and Roll Animal. About 10 years ago I had emails with Prakesh John , he was very nice and a bass hero of mine.

@bobgray1226 Жыл бұрын
how do you know that? I've never once saw Lou raise alcohol to his lips
@gordonlyon2351 Жыл бұрын
@@bobgray1226 Lou's drinking increased steadily from early 73 onwards. At this show in Glasgow in September 1973 he was so drunk he had to be helped on and off stage. See his first wife Bettye Kronstad's book "Perfect Day" for a first hand account of these times! He slowly transferred his allegiance from booze to amphetamines and by November/December 1973 he was like a toothpick. His speed habit went on till 1978 or so then he moved back to the booze. His 2nd wife Sylvia weaned him off the booze in the early 80s.
