as I only found out about an Arbarth yesterday they are pretty awesome considering what they are I've driven plenty of performance vehicles and this one somehow got me hooked I absolutely love the exaust note on it and that's stock with the car but in my opinion that would be even more awesome on a mx-5 miata but opinions are like assholes everyone has one

Sounds good just wish they actually made some power! They're looks are deceiving and they are heavier than one would expect so it's a shame they didn't go a little bigger on displacement, as a 500 Abarth with ~330-350 to the wheels would make a great street toy.

My daily driver weighs 100lbs less than a stock 500 and currently makes 450/330 HP/TQ to the wheels, I think I would be fine. I have had other fwd builds that weighed 500lbs less than the Fiat and made upwards of 800 to the wheels. Anything can be tamed with the right parts and appropriate driving.

Also I don't really consider a Fiat to be "low weight". Compared to a sedan or SUV sure, but compared to other compacts it's simply average weight A Honda CRX at under a ton is low weight, a Fiat at ~2600lbs needs more a lot more than 230HP to be fast.

+Joe Doole You can't compare a 25 years old car like the CRX with a car that is currently produced in terms of weight. Also that tuned Abarth has the torque of a R8 V8 which makes it fast enough I think

First, there is no "fast enough". Fast enough for who, you? Maybe. But what I'm saying is that they haven't made enough power yet out of their platform to make ME ever buy one. They just can't hold a candle to the power potential of other small displacement wonders like those from Honda. I have an engine in my shop right now that was built in 1998, displaces only 1.8 liters and makes nearly double the power of the engine in the Fiat in question. That's not saying very much for the Fiat which has had nearly 20+ years of growth potential. Rule #1, if you want to build a "performance" model of a car, don't use the same engine as the standard Eco version of that car. Did the dodge Neon SRT4 just take a regular neon engine and slap it on there, did Honda take a regular Civic engine for their Type R? Does Mazda put their regular Mazda 3 engine in the Mazdaspeed? Does Ford put a regular Focus engine in their Focus ST and RS? The answer is No, because economy engines are one thing and performance engines are another. Fiat using the same little 1.4 in their "performance" model as they do in their regular models and just tuning it for a bit more boost is just sad, and that car could be so much livlier with a larger boosted 4 cyl.

+Joe Doole The Abarth engine is not the same as in the normal version. It is a performance orientated version with a maximum of about 350hp which is remarkable for a 1.4l engine. Anything over that power wouldn't make any sense considering the low weight and FWD. If 3.1kg/hp isn't enough for you, you're clearly wrong here.

The car is pretty much straight piped from the factory. Being litterally. Turbo,cat backbox. A cat or backbox delete will see any abarth sounding like this
