LOL, the person who caused this video sent me a thank you letter and then the next day sent me a letter telling me I was abusive and this video makes fun of her. Guess her Meds wore off. And People wonder why not many do this. Barn Witches and Psychos, seem to be drawn to horses. Too bad for the horse.

i dont understand why people struggle to watch themselves critically. i make a habit of doing it. especially if i am suddenly struggling with something my horse normally does well with. I video myself and usually pretty quickly identify a minor habit ive picked up or a mistake i made that confused the horse. and then i have a good place to start next time. things nearly always improve as soon as i identify and correct my mistake.

THIS WAS GREAT!!! That was the most accurate interpretation of a lot of the female "trainers" I have seen locally. "Look, I'm lunging!"(but seems completely frigid and terrified of the horse, as if there was a grizzly at the end of the rope)... I wish you were allowed to take horses away from stupid people.

Quiet hands = quiet horse,,,,,,,Soft=Responsive,,,,,,Speak only when you have something to say, horses are not into "small talk" , I talk with my horses all the time, but it is always a conversation that is pertinent to what we are doing, most of the time I am the one who is listening

you could see after Mr T was nagged loudly he was tense with the quiet one a little then relaxed, the nagging definatly made him more stressed and nervous, he looked like wtf you want me to do dude, Mr T and Buddy totally respect you and even buddy looked a little stressed at the loud nagging, two very amazing horses i only hope that when i finally get a horse ile be able to teach them the way rick has taught his

Still my all-time favorite Rick video! First -- a great lesson about how horses read body language (I've seen so many people make EXACTLY the same mistake Rick describes here - also Mr. T is the perfect horse for this lesson as he is extremely sensitive to Rick's body language. And Mr. T is a very handsome mover!). Second, seeing both Buddy and Lacey (I miss Lacey now that Rick is in Texas! I know she had another owner but it was always great to see her in pasture with the boys) doing their antics kills me. Buddy is just DYING to be on camera so he keeps photobombing the shot (I swear he knows) and harassing poor good boy Mr. T by sniffing him and/or walking into his space. Lacey is a hilarious little trickster, very, very clever, and she was about to take out that camera when Rick saw her just in time. Those two crack me up every time. Thanks Rick for posting great videos w/excellent lessons and some very funny horse moments!

I ain't that bad at talking to my horse but seeing you move him that quietly has shown me that I'm still being too loud. My boy is pretty calm around me(and will actually follow me away from the herd and "chase" me when I go out) so I don't think I'm that naggy. But I could definitely be quieter. Thanks for the great video I always love learning new things to pay attention to and work on(and my gelding probably loves it too cause then I dont act quite as stupid).

Stupid horse people teach more people than I do and since there are so many people need to know what to look for and know when they hear and see idiots. Just because someone want to hear only good things and stick their head in the sand and ignore all the bad , does not help fix the ignorance in the horse world. If you don't like it, don't hit play.Your choice not to come, my choice to do my videos my way.

He also walks up to Rick a few times for love after Rick demonstrates the nagging and poor body language. I almost died when Lacey started strutting with her head low towards the camera! That camera was doomed but Rick noticed her in time! Lacey is such a pretty girl.

I don't get how people will send you a video to watch and ask for advice and get mad when you give it. Man the way I am i'd rather you tell me my flaws and what I can do better rather then just sugar coating everything. That's why I watch you. I'm a "no bull shit" kind of person to. I'd rather get honest advice then praise for something I've done wrong.
@amandak31985 жыл бұрын
I'm the same way...but most people already have in their mind that they are great and will be acknowledged for doing such a good job. And that's what SO MANY people (women) in the horse world want. If they learned to listen to their horse, they wouldn't need people to tell them they're doing a good job, the horses(s) would. I've told lesson clients before that most the stuff I'm teaching them, they could get for free just by watching the horse out the window of their home. But somehow that is generally offensive, too lol

Stop teaching her that you don't know what you are doing. You think there is an easy fast answer, there is not and that is why you fail. Read my site and watch all my videos, when you fix yourself, your horse problems go away. When you get better, your horse gets better RE: Sasja Mulder If i so much try to move my mare to the side by lightly putting pressure on her side, she kicks and tries to bite. could anyone here give me advice on how exactly i should correct her at that time?
@notadumbblond36 жыл бұрын
There's a video Rick did with a mare who was disrespectful when tied. Look for that one. You need to teach her you mean business first, to respect when you ask her to move. I can guess that you're fearful and have reinforced that if she bites at and kicks at you, she wins the release of pressure.

Mr T is so elegant even when he is being nagged. It is all coming back to me (the "feeling"): Some people just don't "have it" and never will. Like some people don't have a green thumb and kill plants despite "doing everything right" and having the best intentions. Some people just aren't animal people, they are too nervous, too scared, fearful and can't trust etc. One can see "it" and if they have "it" feel it when Rick is with his horses (and others) whether interacting with them or not. It's a glorious feeling to have "it" and what makes having a pet all worth it for the human and the animal.

Ohhh wow I liked the part where you called it "nagging lunging" That looked really professional and great. I mean Mr. T was going side to side and pausing and going forward and backwards. WOW that looks like what I do when I lunge. I didn't like when you was quiet though. LOL ok i'm joking geez. BUT I BET there are some that are like "ohhh wow that looks great" then when Rick says "this is what crap looks like" haha they are probably shocked and get mad because that's how they lunge. No lie. I see people all the time lunging in that nagging manner and then ask me "how do you think I did"? man I HATE when they ask. I usually just lie so I don't make any enemies there. You don't want a barn witch enemy. lol I just stay out of it and pray the horse finds a better owner one day lmao haha

Haha, I feel ya completely! The owner of the barn I learned from actually brought us all together one day because she was sick of seeing people nag their horses.. she actually had one of us act as a horse, and another would still be a person. Her thought process was that if a human cant tell what you want, the horse sure can't. Being one of the better riders at that barn, I REALLY drove that message home with some of the naggier people. I was a "problem horse" to them lol.

Lmao when I heard what u explained this video to b about I was ready to comment Thats Me! stupid person, but thank God I know I don’t look that bad! Bahahahaha. Still trying to figure it out. My little girl was taught with a lunge whip, and all she has to do is to see it and she takes off running as fast as she can in a circle. Not my deal she’s 20 and I’ve only had her for 1.5 years. My first horse btw and I thought wow I guess that’s what we’re supposed to do. Thanks for the video, you reassured me of my thinking process. After a few times of her running in a circle so fast I had a suspicion that can’t b right somethings up with how she was trained with that whip. Now I’m trying to learn to communicate with her and not definitely do not use that stupid whip anymore and I’m sure I do look awful funny cause I can tell she’s looking at me like what the hell do u really want? Lol.
