I love how this film is essentially American Trainspotting. Like if the central idea of people and their addictions were in an American catalyst. The people turn into unapologetically greedy, addicted, actual scum of the Earth people, with a depressing yet sympathetic ending. They just keep on feeding this problem until it consumes them and spits them out in the end. As opposed to the sympathetic, struggling, flawed characters trying to distance themselves from their addictions and better their lives but keep relapsing, though with a shimmer of hope in the end. It's interesting how both films could have the same surface level idea but with gallows humor and European setting or American Cynicism in itself, it changes your opinion on what it means to be addicted.
