Mike built this badass Pontiac GTO in his garage after his father bought it brand new and passed it down to him. This car just looks so classy and yet it has all the modern upgrades you need to make this thing a great driver, so sit back and enjoy the ride...

I've owned my 1970 GTO Convertible, since I was 18, now...umm, a bit older (58). This is exactly how I'd do my GOAT Outstanding build...and the BUTLER motor, oh yeah - lusted after their work for many years, the PONTIAC gurus. Great work, Great video Shawn as always. If I ever get my '70 Ragtop done like this, I hope to see you to show it off. Thanks for what you do !

I used to have a triple green 1969 that the prior owner put on 1968 doors since he was a smoker and wanted the vent windows. LOVE how this owner didn't just refuse to go LS, he kept the numbers-matching block--not hard to take these out to a 455 foundation. It's funny how low these things sat stock (i had 1980's Firebird Formula Rally II rims on mine) since so many of us saw these things on Series 70 rubber back when they were just old used cars.

My dad had a 69 GT0, and I loved that car as a kid in the mid 70s....unfortunately he was rear-ended by a drunk driver, and the car was totaled ,my heart was broken, I will never forget it and thought it was the coolest mean looking car ever. When my dad gased it, sometimes it shoved me back in the seat and felt like I was losing my breath during acceleration. My dad had it race modified.

Thanks for sharing this video on your KZbin Show I appreciate you and your team and one of these amazing builders and their builds. One more thing I seriously forgot to mention that GTO I TRIED MY BEST TO PURCHASE FROM MY NEIGHBOR WAS ALL NUMBER MATCHING. I have owned and still own many fine cars in the past 52 years of driving, but my favorite design of all time is the 1968 GTO (slight differences from the 1969, but essentially the same car). About ten years ago, I broke down and bought a nice driver quality car, had it shipped to a GTO specialist in Michigan who converted it to hidden headlights for me and then sent it to Los Angeles. About 5 years ago, an employee of a former tenant of mine took the car apart for a restoration project because I had seen a couple of rust bubbles under the paint. After the car was apart, he took off and left me with car parts strewn across my property. It sat that way for about three years before my new tenant, a body shop, moved in and in lieu of rent, I told him he had to put my car back together and paint it. I got it back about a month ago after two long years, and I just love to look at it. That sloping, curvaceous hood with the hood mounted tachometer, the functional hood scoops (I added a ram air package), and the Endura bumpers with the hidden headlights is just one sexy beast. I kept the car fairly stock except for adding disc brakes all around which necessitated going to 17" wheels from the original 14" rallye wheels I just love it. It's loud but I have a 500hp '72 Pantera that is so loud you can barely think. I even kept it in its original Verdoro Green which I thought was the best color Pontiac ever made. Mike's car is gorgeous, and I hope he gets years of enjoyment out of it.

I have a 1969 GTO convertible with the fixed headlights. Unlike the "common" opinion of most GTO fans, I actually think that the 1969 model year looks best WITHOUT the hideaway headlights. I think the fixed headlights make the car look more aggressive. Maybe it's because I also have a 1969 Chevelle SS 396 and the fixed headlights on the GTO kinda makes the front end look similar to the 69 Chevelle SS. Plus with the fixed headlights you don't have to deal with leaky vacuum lines and floppy, sagging headlight covers!

Well, all you do is replace the vacuum actuators with electric ones. They have kits for the 1st gen camaros.

My family have always been huge Pontiac people my brother has a 71 LeMans my dad has a 72 LeMans I've had 2 Trans Am's a 79 and 77 and a 78 Firebird that ran 10's and I've always wanted to do a pro touring 73 Trans Am Firebird but sadly have not hit the lottery yet😪😁. And I absolutely love the fact he kept this car Pontiac instead of going with an LS swap! Also had an 81 Trans Am with the turbo but forgot about that one because that motor was garbage.
