This show has the potential to become the bomb; it is original and informative but then , this is my candid observation; Nelo should practice not interrupting her guests when they are talking so viewers can listen and understand the contributions they are bringing on the subject matter. I noticed she kept interrupting the speakers and actually dominated the show herself. Especially towards the end, the lawyer was not even given ample chance at all to give her advise on the issue being discussed. As a moderator, you have to give your guests the opportunity to express themselves first before making your analysis. Her guests are all lovely women. I particularly loved the lawyer; her composure, dressing and demeanor was quite professional.

Love this Neze lady. She’s so eloquent and articulate. In some Anglican Churches, if you’re pregnant, you can’t wear a white dress, your veil will not cover your face (you may not wear a veil), and your father will not walk down the aisle. It was indeed a saddening experience. Gosh! This whole thing is so sad.

Wow! This was a discussion that needed to be had! I am a Catholic and up until last year, I used to believe it must be Catholic or I won't even date you😂 but after dating a very wicked and mean Catholic and also coming across some really silly Catholics, I changed that mentality ASAP! My happiness became more important than church or religion. As it stands now, I'm so indifferent about things concerning religion. I pray cos I want to talk to God, I go to church cos I genuinely want to and not because it is written in the rules of my church. Most importantly, I will marry who I want to, irrespective of the church. My Mum does not like my new mindset🤣 but I am now a preacher of, 'Do what works best for you'. Cos at the end of the day, this religion thing did not even originate from Africa and the real owners are not this extreme! Barrister Neze I'm so sorry you went through all of that 😥 Your story is really thought provoking and should be a real lesson to our parents 👌

Growing up, I'd always say, I don't care about what Church a man attends, cos, it's same God and all, but, I am so grateful to God, that I married a Catholic, like myself, cos, I don't think, I would have been able to change Churches for marriage, cos, I take being Catholic, very personally..

omg @Nelo this is so needed I am so tired of African churches and all the scars they put on women. Even here in the UK Nigerian churches are the worse. I lost everything I knew because I was excluded from my church because I was found in my boyfriends house who is now my husband of 14yrs we lost everything friends, confidence, self esteem I mean we where like lepers in church. Doing church wedding in Nigeria as well I had to switch to Anglican, never had u may kiss d bride as well it was awful and I had already been married in court for nearly a year. Nigerian churches need to stop I mean they always control their members instead teaching the Bible

Going through the comments I don't know why I am the only one who believes there is no balance in this discussion. For Neze You want to get pregnant b4 marriage and force the church to throw away their biblical standards of sexual purity because of you? The church believes in sexual purity that is why such measures are in place, so caution is not thrown out of the window completely. As for dropping your father's name, it is not a bad culture as you guys made it seem. It's ok if the lady doesn't want to drop her father's name, in that case she should discuss with her partner. I know some successful couples and the woman still bears her father's name + her husbands name, I even know pastors wives who still add their fathers name till date. So it depends on what you want. Great episode Keep up the good work Nelo

Very wonderful topic. My partner is Catholic and I am from a Pentecostal church. He met my mum in January and she kept saying of all the men in this world, I had the effrontery to bring a Catholic home… I don’t even attend her church anymore and I don’t even want a church wedding… but she claims the wedding must be in her church if it would happen or she wouldn’t attend. She also blamed me for not letting my light ‘shine’ on him through the years we have been together😅 and was already evangelizing and trying to convert him. Very crazy experience honestly. Still have my fingers crossed on what to do though, but at this point I decided to pend wedding conversations because I have not seen that conviction to get married in her church.

This conversation is so important and I'm happy we are discussing it. I got married in my husband's church (he's catholic) but we did mixed marriage. I only attended marriage class because I wanted to, didn't do baptism or take communion and we were still wedded in the church. I'm still not catholic but attend the catholic church sometimes because I like the order of mass and some priests are good teachers. My husband and I had this agreement before we got married and I'm very happy we stuck to it even with "side talks". Church attendance or denomination doesn't define anybody's spiritual growth in my option, it is Personal and only The Almighty Father knows who is really worshiping Him.

Wow! Really nice. This is saddening. I had a similar experience with Neze, although i wasn't pregnant. My husband and i had discussions about wedding and in innocence i said i would love to be wedded by my Pastor even if it wasn't in the church. He didn't seem to have any objections. In fact, he came into town one of his visit weekends and asked that we go check out some halls for reception which i gladly availed myself for. About a week after he had returned back to Lagos where he was based with his parents, his mum and i were having a conversation and she kept on mentioning though subtly that it seems like i am a stubborn person because i am insisting on wedding in my church. That was strange because, there was never any discussion of church between me and anyone that i insisted on anything. Anyway, my wedding was eventually done in my husband's family cburch and on that day, ther message was about humility and submission all pointing towards the bride. Nothing at all to the groom. A day after the wedding, my husband's mum made reference to the wedding sermon saying " I hope you heard what was preached yesterday". At that point, i just knew that a lot of conversations had propably gone down behind me within his family that were not so pleasant. That made me so sad plus some other things that happened aŕound that same time that ì was always judged with. Honestly, when i think of marriage these days, i wonder why everthing doesn't just end at the point of paying bride price. For me every other ceremony asides court marriage after bride price payment is unnecessary and just gives room to avoidable conflicts.

Some traditions are still in place hindering so many marriages.

Neze! Praying that you have another wedding to celebrate your 10 years married! Praying that God will restore to you the joy that was stolen from you in that season. May He make all things new, so it will feel like you’re a newlywed again! And May He keep you all, so your father can walk you down the aisle as you desire. “Better is the end of a thing, than the beginning of it... We look forward to seeing the photos one day! I told my husband no to getting married in his Anglican Church after I saw all their protocols, money to be paid, pregnancy test and dress restrictions. Churches are not meant to hold people hostage and it’s sad they get away with so many ungodly/ unbiblical things. “My people perish for lack of knowledge”.

Its ridiculous how the church( Catholic/Anglicans and other mainstream churches) stop two adults that are married in court and traditionally and happen to be pregnant from receiving communion and some other stuff, treating them as outcast but you have slayers who go to club, formicate, go to church next day and they receive communion and act all holier than thou. The whole white wedding dress thing alwayd cracks me up. A tradition that was started just coz the queen of England wore a white wedding gown. I think it was Queen Victoria. Then other women copied. Before that, women wore whatever colour they wanted. I'm not even going to wear a white wedding dress 😂😂😂. I've just always wanted a coloured dress. Either periwinkle, blush pink or sky blue or even a red wedding dress 😂😂😂. The white dresses have never appealed to me 🤷🏿♀️🤷🏿♀️🤷🏿♀️. Don't get me started on the tradition of diamond rings for engagements. 😂😂
