A show, shown on the BBC a few years ago, featuring Louden Wainwright III. There are some really great songs here: e.g. "Being A Dad" at 19.12, "When You Leave" at 26.26, "The Eukele Song" at 41.18, "Louden The First" at 45.52.

He’s playing in Albuquerque March 25. 2 1/2. Hour drive away. Worth it. He’s brutally honest He’s human with all the failings we all have yet never allow to come to the surface and expose with humility

Loudon is the most whacked out, disturbed, talented singer-Songwriter that no one knows. I feel sorry for the entire world, frankly, that he remains so obscure and not everyone gets to hear his music. I’m a bit sad that his personal relationships have been so f…ed up…but it’s made for great music. Simply my favorite of all time!

Had the pleasure of seeing Loudon here in Brisbane years ago when he supported his friend Richard Thompson... I had about ten of his albums at the time and since then I've acquired a few more... He's such a natural talent - I also loved him as the mayor of a strange town in the fabulous film BIG FISH...

Every song he has ever done is good, but if you haven't heard it, go track down the rolling, reverberating cover of "Schooldays,' - the first song on his first album - on "The McGarrigle Hour" (CD 1998). Kata and Anna start it off, followed by Rufus and Martha, and then Loudon and Chaim - all of them singing together! It'll raise the hairs on the back of your neck - and make you smile.

"Martha's Dad "- sure thing.. it's sad isn't it that his two talented children from his marriage to the late great Kate McGarrigle are now far more famous than he is.. The man has been giving it is all on stages all over the planet and he still has that drive and natural humour mixed with sadness in an array of glorious songs that most of the songwriters who are held in esteem can't touch... He even had the bravery to release something as powerful as HITTING YOU.

I think it would be sad if he didn't take pleasure in the success of his kids... I mean, isn't that sort of the point of offspring? That you hope they outdo you?
@EnosEverything
@EnosEverything 3 жыл бұрын
@@jonkiparsky7369 I'm sure he does take great pleasure in their success Jon , I'm simply pointing out that a man of such resounding talent who gave the world these marvellously talented children is mostly remembered by the average music fan as the guy who gave us DEAD SKUNK and for most of his working life has gigged all around the world playing to small crowds in small venues and has had to hump his guitars around with him... I'm sad for him that he is not held in the same esteem as Rufus and Martha.

@@suesjoy Holy fucking shit... What is wrong with people today...Don't they care ???.. Are they ignorant to the nth degree ???... You Sue call the man LONDON... the guy Grumpy who started this site calls him LOUDEN... The man is named LOUDON... He even has a song about the average wanker who can't spell his name properly T.S.M.N.W.A....Let's see if you smart people can work out what those letters stand for... But you would at least expect the grumpy old bozo who starts this page to get it right .. or the girl making a comment about he and his offspring.. Fuck, I get so demoralised by people just not caring or not taking the time to check and proof read what they have typed.. It's the any old shit will do world eh !!!.. Well not in my home and if some prick sends me a message saying CHILL DUDE , I swear I will stick a LOUDON WAINWRIGHT III L.P. up their arse...
