Press guy: "What's your favorite Blackmore moment? . . . Did Deep Purple ever approach you?" Yngwie: "Okay, this is gonna be a long answer." Press guy: "Good" (thankful he'll have something to write about that isn't in a million previous Yngwie interviews) Yngwie: Doesn't answer either question and goes into the same long-winded story he's told in countless interviews, including his left-handed compliments to the guitar players of the time when he was a kid. Nothing exemplifies the need for the expression "less is more" more than the man who apparently is incapable of comprehending it.

He didn't answer the question about DeepPurple because it wasn't Deep Purple who approached him but he who approached Deep Purple and Deep Purple refused his application, the answer was that they didn't want a guitarist who played 200 notes per second. It was at the time when Joe Satriani was playing with Deep Purple and had said he didn't want the job. I think he also burned himself when in 1990 he played on stage with Gillan in Sweden and he overdid it, Guillan must have thought he was unmanageable. Concerning "less is more" he never understood simply because he doesn't know the work of Poincaré it was the King of Sweden who had launched the competition

5:28 while I respect the desire for someone to have their own expression and not have a bunch of other hands and minds in it, I think most people, including fans of Yngwie’s music would say it came out better when he at least had other musicians playing and singing with him, although at times the co-writes may have benefitted his music too.
@nathaninostroza76554 ай бұрын
Why is this thing of acting like an orphan of his formula that did to You, and not letting Yngwie do as he pleases? I moved on with him, and respect the shit out off him, he made ppl realise here that his expressiveness comes first in the importance list when it comes to music, so much that he's going all in, telling us we only live once. I know it seems obvious the way i paraphrase him, but the point is, no one can acuse him of selling u one thing and delivering other. I think, it gotta be so difficult being him as a guitarist in his bodie, so i respect him for wanting to go the other way, when ppl wants him to be one way. He's not even begging for fans to come back, fans who don't care for his current albums. No matter how great it was once to hear him with brilliant ppl, Barry Sparks, the Johansen bros, Joe, Jeff, Boals, Vescera, u name it. He s happy being a niche artist and a phucking legend living his musical life. I wouldnt want it to be other way. If it isnt your cup of tea, then fine. It's ok to not accept his direction and way of doing things nowadays, but don't lie down here saying that u respect his desire of him being able to be who he is. Yngwie spoke the truth down here. It aint gonna be like we think it should. Period.
@nathaninostroza76554 ай бұрын
I also don't think he's not a team player when he wants to, that he havent realized the benefits of relying in ppl to pull off the musical work. It's just that, he doesnt want some singer telling him to leave space here, a producer butting heads with him about notes down there. If he's through putting up with that. Well he's what rockers gotta be, ppl who do shit like they feel. Ppl trying to mold him into status quo is the thing he's avoiding. If his musical past aint for him so desirable, thats HIM. We cherish that, more than the current LPs. But thats US.

I think his last album (Parabellum) is nearly a masterpiece. He is right saying he is in the best shape ever - just listen to the sweeps in God Particle. Regarding the production, I got used to it and can't complain. The only thing I would change in the last album is the singing - either hire someone or make an album fully instrumental. Then he has the keyboard player who can sing on tour.

Love Yngwie Malmsteen's voice glad he sings himself

Shame nobody asked how he never gets bored of playing the same runs since the Steeler days. He has to be one of the most repetitive guitar players of all time.

Could be said for most pro guitarists i.e. Clapton, Knopfler, on and on. His licks are mostly uniquely classically based and don't blend into the sea of pentatonic blues that most other players mimic. So they stand out more when he repeats.

Most people don't know really Yngwie's discography and there's a lot of songs where he does other stuff than shredd , and he has bluesy stuff groovy and beside the soli, he wrote amazing riffs. @@jfo3000

@@jfo3000 Knopfler certainly plays "less" and despite his ego, Yngwie couldn't play what Knopfler does.

Hitting all the same talking points as always. "On the Rox" by Steeler has probly one of the most killer Steen solos ever. He's got so many awesome solos but Soldier Without Faith, Broken Glass, and Now Is The Time are my current favorites. Check out Time Travel by Rob Marcello

He never understood that simpler music often resonates with the masses more. Yeah steeler was basically club metal but that's what was popular at that time.

@@ActivateBeastMode1 what dafuq do u know about what Yngwie s never understood? Something as simple as what you're pointing out? You still don't get it, he aint craving for more fame than the fame he already has. And more important, he aint desperate for new listeners, nor he s gonna turn complacent and keep it simple. Poor u.

He point blank said "call it whatever you want I've always rolled that way" after stating he would not accept the Graham Bonnet gig unless they got rid of Clive Burr for the Alice Cooper drummer that played double bass. He also remembered that Clive Burr was a sweet guy just not right for the gig. Yngwie could have opted not to go into all that detail to appear another way. He was honest instead. I respect that and I would simply call him an artist that knows what he wants and will not compromise his vision.

@@Explorer766 I just happen to know someone who met him a long time ago in a studio, this guy was carrying a guitar case & Yngwie walked right up to him & said "You play guitar?, the guy replied "Yes" obviously starstruck & Yngwie followed with "Well, I'm the greatest guitar player in the world...", with the deadliest of poker faces. Anyway, he is what he is I guess. I wouldn't have him in my top 20, but he's a great guitarist, even if he does come across as a bit of a nob.

What Yngwie fails to realize,is that he is a brilliant guitar player,but an incredibly bad mixer or producer.His ego is just too big to realize that.I mean,listen to his last 4 or 5 records,they're basically unlistenable.Everyone needs a little objective guidance sometimes.

as a Yngwie Fan what happened to all great songs that he has with singers? Ill see the light tonight, disciples from hell, don't let end , forever one , pyramid of cheops ,Leonardo , playing with fire, voodoo nights ,prophets of doom, crucify ,tarot , facing the animal, like an Angel, Dreaming tell me etc. what the Fuck ????????? I dont think he cant pay a decent singer , that is bullshit. he "sing" like a bull kicked in the balls !!! horrible !!!. 100 % disappointing as Fan.

Your ears can't handle the complexity of his music.
@Scott__C3 ай бұрын
@@danfors1333 Please. I've listened for years to Yes, Queensryche, Rush as well as classical and jazz. His music is no more complex than anything else I've listened to. Fact is, it was better music when he had a real band playing on it and most especially when he had Joe Lynn Turner contributing to the songs.
@danfors13333 ай бұрын
@@Scott__C You're just listening but not hearing. Anyone can listen to complex music, even dimwitted animals, but to truly hear the beauty of it and connect on multiple planes emotionally takes a higher awareness and understanding. His music is just too clever and incomprehensible for you. You just hear the surface at best. The deeper layers far too advanced for most musicians except the highest skilled composers so it's nothing to be ashamed of for not understanding. Queensrÿche and Rush are simple pop music for the masses in comparison. Adding vocals to Yngwie's music is as filthy as adding flame decals to a Ferrari.
