When I was 15 my brother got me backstage passes to a Pantera show. Dime and Vinnie come back after the show toting a case of beer. They were so fucking cool to everybody. Vinnie looks at me and says "you're old enough, right?" with a big smile and tosses me a Budweiser. I felt like the coolest kid on the entire planet for that one brief moment. Rest in Peace Vinnie. I've once met him and he was such a great guy. This was back in 2009, when I was 17 years old, at the Music Fair in Frankfurt (germany). I was a kid with long hair, wearing some metal shirt and I had a pair of drumsticks in my hand. It was easy to say, that I was probably a fan of him or his bands. And he just stood up from his booth and came to me and said "Hi, I am Vinnie! Can I take a picture with you?". That was so great. We had a little talk, took some pictures and he signed my stick (which I still have, also with another autograph from simon phillips from toto).

I think it's more about the bullshit that Phil was spreading in the press about Dime. It seems like Vinnie may believe (and he was probably right, if he did believe it) that it helped goad the killer into revenge against Dime. And I think a lot of people don't realise that Vinnie was an intended target as well. The gunman was trying to kill both of them, but crew members grabbed Vinnie and pulled him backstage after the shooting erupted and he was trying to run to his brother. They then saw the gunman go behind the drumset, looking for him. I've never really heard anyone acknowledge that.
@jeremymiller38006 жыл бұрын
Jacob Johnson The killer thought they were stealing his music. He was menally ill. Look it up.
@jacobjohnson86866 жыл бұрын
Jeremy Miller Yes, I know. But Vinnie's behavior has seemed to imply that he believes Phil was a contributing factor to Dime's death. He would know more about the investigation into the killer's motives than any of us, and since it seems he may think it rational that some of Phil's defamatory statements played a role, we're not much in a position to question it. We don't know what he knows. But then again, we don't know for sure that he blames Phil in any way for it - we can only guess, as his bitterness towards him seems a bit too excessive for it to have been born exclusively of whatever went on between them 20 years ago.
@jacobjohnson86866 жыл бұрын
I'm not saying forgiveness wouldn't probably have been a better option, just that people aren't in much of a position to decide he's irrational when there are bound to be parts of the story we don't know.

Nigel Fortune it is man but he doesn't need to be a douche and blame dimes death on Phil. I feel like dimebag would have wanted them to come together and fix things after the tragedy and all vinnie is doing is making Phil feel like shit for what happened and that's not right.

Superman23 that was what people loved about Vinnie and Dime. They Really were Humble and Cool guys. They treated people like they were their equals. They remembered where they came from and what it took to get there. I’ve never heard even one story where either of them treated a fan or up and coming musicians like they were ‘above’ them. The music world lost 2 of the best guys ever when we lost the Abbott brothers.💕

Maidenlord 666 I'm referring to pre Cowboys from Hell. The 4 or 5 albums like Power Metal that were never re released after Cowboy's from Hell. Their last release was on record and Tape. Tracks like Right on the edge, Power Metal, Taking my life etc. The era called Glamtera now but really sound more like Priest, Maiden, and Accept than Poison or Ratt.
@slothprime13278 жыл бұрын
The band completely discarded those albums. They and the fans consider cowboys from hell the true debut.
@gungriffen8 жыл бұрын
The Prime Sloth Have they though or has the record label? Phil says the stuff on Power Metal was amazing. Rex, Dime, and Vennie were in contact with Terry (The original singer) about doing a tour for the original albums when Dime was killed. Phil even said he would love a rerelease of Power Metal (Phil's first Pantara Album) When anything negative comes up about the original albums the band talks about the look they had not the sound of the albums. Cowboys was just their first major label release.

Phil wanted Dime to be "beaten severely". He only changed his mind when Dime was murdered. Phil had bad intentions right to the end, if Dime was still alive they'd still be fighting (nothing against Phil, he's awesome)
@cbl65207 жыл бұрын
And Phil openly admitted he F'd up when saying that and tried to make amends with Vinne, but Vinne simply won't let it go. Frankly this is more of Vinnes problem than Phils, sure what Phil said was wrong, but he owned up to it, Vinnes stubborn refusal to let this go, frankly, is childish. He needs to move on and let this go.
@11DNA117 жыл бұрын
Unforgiveness is like drinking poison and hoping the other person dies. Vinnie needs to bury the hatchet. There's really no reason to tarnish the legacy of Dime and Pantera, by Vinnie and Phil fighting over shit. And it's not even Phil fighting, through all this BS, he still loves Vinnie. Pantera was more than just a band. It was a Brotherhood of 4 guys making shit happen.

“Unforgiveness is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die.” Vinnie likely would lived longer if he hadn’t harbored so much hatred in his heart for Phil. And it’s sad that he never forgive him, not for Phil’s sake but for himself.
@jetcheneau58112 жыл бұрын
If anything of that sort killed Vinnie it was the years with his brother he lost. And it isn't as if Dime died in his sleep or of some OD, he was murdered 3 feet away from him. Lot of survivor's guilt, lot of trauma. If I were Vin I'd have done the same. Anyone can theorize what they want, but only Vin has the perspective on it he does. Many people lost friends and family that night, but Vin had to watch.
@beatlecristian2 жыл бұрын
@@jetcheneau5811 Vinnie wasn’t the only person to have a sibling murdered so that’s not a good excuse to blame it on Phil who had nothing to do with Dimebag’s murder.

The dude who got punched in the face. Made $524.11 in 2016 money. Looking forward to those last Damageplan tracks. Very underrated band. Also, do Robb Flynn next! He's probably got some good Dime stories to tell. And if you do, ask him when he's gonna release that tape of when Machine Head, Pantera, Marilyn Manson & Black Sabbath jammed on stage during Ozzfest '97 in Cleveland. And survived the ensuing riots afterwords.
